"A sister institution to the Larco Museum in Lima, MAP is one of the best museums in Cuzco . The museum usesobjects of Peru’s many pre-Columbian civilizations toexplain their differing cultures. Exhibits—representing cultures from as early as 1250 B.C.E.up until 1532 C.E., when Spanish conquistadors arrived—includeartifacts produced in ceramic, wood, stone, silver, and gold. Some pieces are utilitarian, others purely ceremonial or decorative, but all help you picture what life might have been like in the time of the artisans who created them."

"I recommended the Pre-Columbian Art Museum in Cusco as a good spot to see archaeological artifacts and pre-Columbian artworks (about 500 items), and noted that many pieces are on loan from Museo Larco so it's a suitable alternative if you missed Larco in Lima." - Matthew Kepnes
Beautiful museum that tells the story of pre-columbian art a really useful audio guide well done.
A great compliment to the Larco in Lima.

Overall an educational visit, with a sufficiently in-depth overview of pre-colombian cultures and how their art fit into it. Translations are available in French and English, and they’re good.

Definitely rec visiting this with the Larco Museum in Lima (doesn't matter which one first). Another way of appreciating Peruvian art/history and still lots of amazing collections. Rec audio guide!
Also, if you can, visit the museum slightly later in the afternoon so maybe you can capture the moon over the court yard. Beautiful house of history, too!

The museum is open until 22:00, there are not many people, so you do not need to buy in advance. It is located high up from the central square, so you need to take this into account. The museum exhibits tell about the history and artifacts of pre-Inca civilization. Time for the museum is 1 hour.

Very well organized and maintained. We did not have to wait to buy tickets and stayed until 9:30pm. The night view from the inner patio is great. Nice one to check out when it’s raining or as a late night plan. Very affordable and worth every sol. They accept cards too!
