Museo de Bellas Artes

The museum is located at the Plaza del Príncipe de Asturias. Admission is free and it's open until 20:00. There is also complementary WiFi - no password needed but you must sign in with your phone number. Surprisingly there are Braille signs for the art (but a blind person cannot touch the art). I thought the third floor was best. Many of the works had QR codes for more information about them. On the second floor much of the art is not labeled. The first floor has temporary exhibits.

I really enjoyed wandering through this museum. There are halls with paintings that cover entire walls — the rooms feel bright and spacious, and there are hardly any visitors, so you can take your time and actually look. The building itself feels like part of the experience. The facade is decorated with 10 busts of famous tinerfeños (people from Tenerife) — including Teobaldo Power and Ángel Guimerá. Most of the collection features local painters and sculptors, which makes it a great place to get a sense of Tenerife’s artistic history. A Flemish triptych from 1546 — Tríptico de Nava y Grimón (The Nativity of Christ), considered the museum’s most famous piece.

This is a lovely small museum with a mix of classic and modern art, mainly paintings. Some of them give you a nice historic context of the islands, plus some very nice impressions of all the islands in a current exhibition on the ground floor. And ... it's free to enter 😊

A small museum. When we visited it had 2 photography exhibitions. Also features sculpture, figurative and landscape paintings by local artists. It's also free.

Free entry, staff helpful and nice. Not a very big collection but some very interesting pieces. Most artworks are historical (interesting art from the Canary Islands) although they have a small room with local contemporary works and then another one for temporary exhibitions, which was closed between exhibitions when I came. Recommendable museum!

Nice gallery. Very few visitors. For free. Top floor classical art. Middle contemporary + little bit of museum. Bottom floor photos and small artists. The top floor is by far the best. You can't expect to find Monet or Velasquez there ofc but it was decent connection.

Visited this free museum as tourist information recommended this on visit to Tenerife in January 2025. The museum has some very fine art and you can sit on bench and look at it. They do make you put any drinks into locker so you don't try to ruin the painters I'm guessing. After looking around and taking pics me and my friend decided to look downstairs on the ground floor which was some very questionable photographs not paintings but actual photos of a nude person which should come with a warming as was not expecting to see that. Literally left traumatised not sure why they was a whole room of these and why they didn't come with a warning. Not sure if that was a exhibition of nude pics and gets changed regularly or this person had made a big donation to museum or something but be aware if taking kids to that ground floor room.

Paintings, sculptures - modern and traditional over 3 floors. Entirely free of charge - friendly and helpful staff. A great experience.

Though this museum is small (I lived in Tenerife for six months before I realized it even existed), it really is quite wonderful. There is a gallery for temporary exhibitions on the first floor, and the permanent collection is housed on the second floor. The collection is almost exclusively works from the backrooms of the Prado, and it includes both sculpture and painting. There's a small alabaster replica of Canova's Cupid and Psyche, if you're interested. The second floor also has a music hall in which they host concerts, though I never attended any. The museum is so small that you may walk the length of it in about an hour or so, but the art is so nice that it's definitely worth a visit.
