Small museum, but does a good job of portraying the political history of El Salvador and the pain, suffering, and sacrifice of the people to gain their freedom.

You must visit this museum to experience what salvadoreans had to endure, blood, tears, and unimaginable suffering since 1932 until the end of the Civil War. The museum is free to get in.

One of the best museums I’ve ever visited, small but extremely informative and raw. If you’re in San Salvador and don’t come here, you’re doing yourself a disservice. The people working here are super nice and very informative and knowledgable. 10/10

One of the most important museums in all of El Salvador! An absolute-must visit museum that gives crucial insight on the Salvadoran Civil War and the people who were affected by it! I cannot stress how vital this museum is for the conservation and memory of the Civil War!

Very important collection of photos, text, and art expounding deeply El Salvadors history. Great design, very clear, well exhibited research, interviews, and new art forms.

A small but well presented history of El Salvador with English translations for most exhibits. A new section for covid without translations but the images spoke for themselves.

This small inexpensive museum is run by a not for profit foundation called MUPI dedicated to the investigation, rescue, preservation and dissemination of the historical and cultural heritage of El Salvador. As well as changing exhibitions, this museum has permanent exhibitions focusing on how El Salvador was changed by the events of 1932 and 1981 and on the life of Oscar Romero, who was canonized by Pope Francis in 2018 as El Salvador's first saint, who was assassinated on a chapel altar in 1980 and was proclaimed a martyr.

Wonderful place to learn about the civil war in El Salvador. Cost of entrance is $1 for nationals and $2 foreigners.
