"Admire Art by Oaxacan Painters The fact that Oaxaca is a hub of art and creativity is evident almost everywhere you look. Besides the abundance of beautiful architecture and colorful folk art and handicrafts, several important contemporary artists hail from Oaxaca, including three internationally renowned painters: Rufino Tamayo, Rodolfo Morales and Francisco Toledo. The Oaxacan painters museum is a space that celebrates the art and creativity of these, and other less well-known but also extremely talented artists from this southern Mexican state. The two-story restored colonial mansion that houses the Oaxacan painters museum has elegant arches surrounding a central courtyard, and rooms with pristine white walls that form the backdrop to paintings and other artwork. There's no permanent collection here, but temporary exhibits run throughout the year, and the space is also used for workshops and courses."
What a beautiful museum! We truly enjoyed our visit. If you're a resident of Mexico, admission is free. Keep in mind that there are a lot of steps throughout the museum.

Lots of museums to choose from in Oaxaca but this small, contemporary art museum is definitely worth the visit. I’m sure exhibits change but we were impressed with current showing. Easy to stroll through & nice to get off the hustle and bustle of the streets. Small fee/donation but very worthwhile.

This is a small modern art museum. The exhibits are interesting. Admission is donation. During dry season bathrooms are not available due to limited water in the city.

Beautiful building, spacious clean and well organized art exhibitions. Art is wonderfully local and depicts local themes... Loved it. I believe exhibitions are changed every few months... So that means it is never dull or boring. Entry was Free. Visited Sunday afternoon. You can give a donation if you want.

Great Lokal Art & friendly staff at the entry.
- 1 because the toilets are out of order (comparing the comments it seems like they are quite a while out of order)
- 1 because the official website prices don’t match the entry fee (50 pesos is the current entry fee, not 20!). Please update the website (the website is from the Mexican government so people rely on that information), also we got no receipt.

Wow—such fascinating art! Much of the work is really playful, yet direct and insightful. The building is quite exceptional, too. Here are some of the beautiful art that really resonated with me.

The museum was much better then expected. Well selected collection of paintings, sculptures and installation, easy to navigate through. The descriptions are only in Spanish but Google translate worked like a charm. It is donation based and was not crowded on Friday when I went there. It’s not big so you don’t need more than 1h.

Yelp
We visited the Museo de los Pintores Oaxaqueños when we were in Oaxaca for vacation a week ago. It's a small museum, but worth visiting! The name is a give away; this museum focuses on Oaxacan painters. There were some interesting pieces and two interesting exhibits when we visited (one on Rufino Tamayo and one on Victor Hugo Perez)! It's free to visit, so definitely stop in even if you only have a few minutes!

Learned the hard way MUPO is only open on weekdays but it is free right now. Beautiful building with interesting art. Would recommend visiting if in the area.

Yelp
I am not one of those persons who know about art in this case painting. I had heard a lot about this museum and I had seen a lot of pictures of my friends in this place. One day I was around here with my brother and I decided to get in to know this wonderful place. Fist, the place where is located the museum is a beautiful colonial house. Second, there are many types of paintwork from different artist and techniques. Finally, the prices for tickets are very cheap, just $20 pesos.
Definitivamente este museo es un lugar que todo turista y habitante local debe visitar y conocer lo grandioso que tenemos en nuestra ciudad.
