It can be visited for free on Sundays and from 3:00 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays between October and May. We learned from the video shown here that there is also a labyrinth in Menorca. Thank you!

This is a very special place. A brand new museum which showcases not only the history of this contested island but the intricacy of its culture and the cultures that occupied it. From the excellent intro video to the displays and surprisingly readable supporting material, this is a must-visit for any Menorca traveller.

Engaging and educational for all ages. An excellent history of the island, its people and how it transitioned through the centuries. Excellent artifacts and short explanations of each exhibit in three languages. Not busy. Buy tickets on site. Enjoy.

4 Euros entry, 3 floors of history from early Menorcan settlement, through all the subsequent ownership, right up to modern times. The interactive island map on the 3rd floor was very interesting.

Very interesting place showing the history of the island politically, religiously, and culturally. Very nicely presented. We noted the informative descriptions alongside artefacts.

Free to access in october. we were in there for a good hour looking around. really lovely building and so much history to look through! Definately worth going for free. It has a cute look out point too.

Very interesting museum, but unfortunately the staff are not friendly and were quite rude to people when informing the museum was closing. A shame to have that ending to an enjoyable visit. Some training in customer service would be helpful and make people want to come back to explore more.

Good place to go to get a detailed history of the Balearic Islands. From the original prehistoric settlers in 3000bc to the invasions of Romans, Ottomans, Spanish and British, right to modern day. Reasonably priced and located next to the Santa Maria church by the port. There are facilities and a gift shop.

Gayle and I were here a couple months ago for a well-curated tour of the history of Menorca. For a subject that we knew little about, the Museum did a great job of helping us learn about this strategically located place and in a attractively displayed and logically led manner. We both highly recommend this Museum for anyone visiting Mahon, who wants find out more about this Island's historical background. Museo de Menorca is the leading institution in the diffusion of Menorca's heritage and cultural landscape. This place is an easy walk from the center of Mahon and is housed in the former Sant Francesc Convent. The Museum's collection includes pre-historic artifacts from archaeological excavations, and various private and public donations. There's a lot of "modern" history here too, including (but not limited to) various conquerors (Moors, Christian Kingdoms, French, British, Spain, Turks, etc.), the Spanish Civil War, and current developments. Museo de Menorca also has a small, but attractive gift shop. Gayle purchased a nice hand-made Menorcan basket that we thought was reasonably priced. That's consistent with my "rule of thumb" that the best local souvenirs can be found in museum gift shops.
