Very fun museum with incredible amber specimens. The Jurassic park logo was inspired here. There’s also a nice exhibit on making cigars. Takes make 45 mins to see everything.

Very nice stop during day trip to Puerto Plata, museum is in a beautiful mansion and is well organised. In top of Amber collection you can also see the tobacco transformation process to make cigars. Our guide was lovely, knowledgeable and made our visit a quality experience. The tour doesn’t take long and museum is within 15 mins walking distance from the cruise liners port.

The Dominican Amber Museum truly exceeded my expectations. It’s located in a beautiful old Victorian house that gives the whole visit a unique charm. I learned so much about amber, and seeing ancient insects trapped inside pieces that are millions of years old was amazing. The famous blue amber—found only in the Dominican Republic—is absolutely stunning. The staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, making the tour enjoyable and informative. There's also a lovely little shop with genuine amber jewelry. Perfect for families, couples, or solo travelers. Definitely a must-see if you're in Puerto Plata!

Legitimately worth it. The tour guide was so friendly and knowledgeable. He also speaks like 4 languages (German, English, Spanish, and I forgot the other one)! Bought my tickets there, I think it was $200DOP.

The Amber Museum, and it was so much more than I expected! 🏛️✨ Seeing fossilized insects inside the amber and learning about the process of how it's made was absolutely fascinating. 🐞🪨 It’s a great place to admire these beautiful stones while getting a history lesson. One of my favorite parts? Finding out that an amber piece from this museum was borrowed for the Jurassic Park movie! 🦖🎥 No wonder the museum’s logo looks so similar to the movie's. Highly recommend visiting—it’s an unforgettable experience!

I recently visited the Amber Museum and was fascinated by its rich history and connection to both Jurassic Park and the Dominican Republic. The museum's extensive collection of amber fossils provides a unique glimpse into the prehistoric past, showcasing the incredible biodiversity that once existed in the Dominican Republic. The connection to Jurassic Park is evident, as the amber fossils on display are similar to those used in the film to extract dinosaur DNA. The museum does an excellent job of explaining the scientific significance of amber and its role in preserving ancient life. The exhibits are well-curated and informative, providing visitors with a deeper understanding of the Dominican Republic's geological and paleontological heritage.
