I didn’t know what to expect from Museo Faggiano, but it turned out to be one of the most surprising and unique museum experiences I’ve had. From the outside, it looks like an ordinary building, but inside it reveals an incredible archaeological journey uncovered during a simple home renovation. Every room holds secrets from centuries past — from Roman cisterns to medieval escape routes. One of the family members was there to share the story, and his passion made the visit even more special. A true hidden gem in Lecce — totally worth your time, even if you're not usually into museums!

Really nice museum, and what an amazing story of discovery! A pleasant way to walk through local history in the heat of the day. We also verified with locals that this is indeed a genuine historical place, so rest assured.

Very unique and interesting. Lots of steep stairs so not accessible if youre on the larger side or have bad knees... or claustrophobia.

One of the most unassuming yet compellingly intriguing museums you are ever likely to auditor. The staff member present was delightfully helpful and clearly proud of her establishment and rightfully so. It is spread over 4 levels, some oc the stairwells and quite narrow, so if you have difficulty in this regard it may be too much for you. You are essentially observing the outcome of a 7 year long archaeological figure. It is utterly fascinating and elements drench credits. Some of the artefacts are thousands of years old. If in Lecce do not miss.

Absolutely must see! The inspiring story of a man and his family discovering history underneath their home is well told through a numbered guide. At the entrance you get explanations for everything that you can see inside in your language – very nice touch! To get into the museum you have to pay 5€, that are going to be worth it. Inside there is quite a lot of exploring to do, but you are going to have seen everything within 20min.

Seems unassuming from the outside but the inside is full of finds! The guidebook walks you through each area of the excavation and tells you the history of each layer. Fascinating!! The section set aside for "processing" the dead was incredible.

The owner wanted to build a restaurant but ended up creating a museum. Very interesting.

The exposition of historical items and archeological evidences is for sure very important for the science, but i was rather fascinated by the unique location in the middle of the city, architecture and overall aesthetic of the place. Definitely worth the visit if u want to take a look through different epochs and explore the items with no pressure from stuff. The manager at the ticket office turned out to be a son of the owner, who was passionate about the place and explained the whole discovery process in perfect English. Plan 15-30 minutes for the place and don’t miss on the underground rooms, the have a temperature difference of roughly 10C compared to the outside…
