An interesting museum with a collection of both historical and contemporary art and artifacts. It has free entry a wide open spaces with a variety of collections.

Former government building holding historical city artifacts including the original Act of Independence and the desk where it was signed. There's not that many exhibits nor signage, but it is a cool place to visit.

Beautiful old town hall with a museum of the history of the city. Felt like the museum could be improved, not a lot of displays for the size of the building. Free entrance and only Spanish descriptions.

This is a nice, quick way to get familiar with Uruguay’s history. The visit was fee of charge. I got some cool facts from a crew guy I randomly asked a question to about an old painting. The crew wouldn’t volunteer information, but if you ask, they help.

Very nice building of the old town hall, with the spirit of the colonial times. The museum itself is pretty small, but gives some idea about the history of Montevideo. Admission free.

A public building used as the government house during the colonial times of the Viceroyalty of the River Plate. Actually is used as a museum and houses the Historical Archive of the city.

Free to enter. When I was there the cafe wasn't open (it was pouring with rain which may have been relevant as the cafe is in the courtyard) but the cakes in the display cabinet looked good. There was a large school group visiting (the building is big enough that the school group wasn't an issue). There are various exhibitions with information boards in Spanish, for example, one about women's fashion and it's signifance.

Good exhibition and friendly staff
