This is a superb museum, if you are at all interested in the history of music.- in fact it's a must. The exhibits are absolutely fascinating, some quite breathtaking, and mostly marked in Italian and German. Well worth a visit!!

It was very interesting to see old musical instruments, to find out more about the famous musicians. Very quiet museum, not very many visitors.

Small but very nice exhibition, well decorated. It's an elegant story about the solo contribution of Mr. Martini (if I'm not mistaken the name) on collecting and organising the history of music in his period. I would not claim it "international music museum" as it's misleading. The atmosphere is more of a gallery rather than a music museum where you have music played in all rooms. There is no interactive part, no translations in English on the labels and we haven't been proposed to the option of audio guide even though some icons suggest it. The interior design of the building is very nice and compliments the elegant atmosphere. The lady on the entrance was very charming and positive. The ticket of 5 euro is ok for the place.

The Museo Internazionale e Biblioteca della Musica in Bologna offers a rich collection for those interested in music related historical information, books, and musical instruments. While the library section’s exhibitions are limited and the number of instruments on display is modest, the museum houses notable pieces such as the unique Clavemusicum by Vito Trasuntino (Venice, 1606) and the Archicembalo designed by Nicola Vicentino around 1555. Additionally, the museum features a significant collection of portraits initiated by Padre Giovanni Battista Martini, depicting prominent figures from the music world.

A stunning setting which houses some great musical artefacts. However, the museum is quite small, and it lacks the immersive aspect; there is no musical aspect in a music museum. It is definitely well-kept, and a beautiful place to visit, but I wouldn’t recommend having it at the top of your attractions list (unless you are an absolute music fanatic). We only visited because it was free and not crowded, and there are definitely greater attractions in Bologna.

Visited because it is included in the bologna card. Housed in the historic Palazzo Sanguinetti, the museum showcases an impressive collection of musical instruments and manuscripts. The beautifully decorated rooms enhance the experience, making it both educational and visually stunning.

The museum was interesting. It had some beautiful displays. Free entry for students (not only studying in Italy) but you must have some kind of proof for that.

This music museum made my time in Bologna! Nice collection of historical wind and string instruments, as well as facsimile from the composers. Many original portraits of composers. Interesting collections of guitars in the downstair gallery.
