"Spanish influence can be seen across Latin America, though especially in Argentina, where many locals are of Spanish descent. Here in residential Belgrano, beyond the typical tourist track, author Enrique Larreta’s former residence has been turned into the city’s only Spanish museum and cultural center. Highlights include a 16th-century Gothic-style altarpiece; Renaissance and Baroque period paintings; and a portrait of Enrique Larreta himself, along with a number of unique Spanish objects, like weapons and swords and hand-carved sculptures. Go on Thursdays, when entry is free, and if nothing else, make time to check out the Jardín Andaluz, the perfectly pruned garden; it used to be a hangout for Argentine socialites." - Allie Lazar

One of my favorites in BA. It’s worth the visit to both the interior of the house and beautiful garden in the back. The people that worked there were very polite and amazing, which made the experience even better.

Small museum that was was the home of Argentinan writer Enrique Larreta. He was a huge proponent of Spanish art and literature. There is a nice collection as well as seeing a beautiful home and garden. The cost is currently $2,000 ARS for foreigners ($500 ARS for locals).

Great garden but so many mosquitoes. Inside there was nothing written in English.

A must see. This grand home, now preserved as a museum of the history and art works of the previous owner. The special surprise is the splendid garden at the rear.

We were very impressed that the guide kindly provided an English commentary for us on the tour - normally given only in Spanish. Thank you. 😊 👍
