Great museum! As a native English speaker I would highly recommend making sure Miguel is available for your visit. He brings so much energy and knowledge which makes the history come alive. He really made the visit 100x more enjoyable than it would have been on our own. Side note is that we had our 2 dogs with us and they were also welcome.

Some nice exhibits and interactive sets. Unfortunately the majority of items were in Spanish so you need to either translate with your phone or just watch pictures. I spent no more than an hour here because of the language barrier. There are some good photo opportunities here however including a helicopter and submarine exhibit.

If you're into history and naval stories, this is a must do in Cartagena. There's plenty to understand the rather convoluted story of Cartagena and how military and naval technology played such an interesting role in what it is now. Even though is not very interactive, I enjoyed the models of forts and the infopanels. The ship replica was a very interesting addition.

The highlight of the historic walled city! For only 23k COP , this museum is an excellent destination for history lovers and those wanting to learn about what makes Cartagena so special while staying cool in the Air Conditioning. I spent over 3 hours here soaking up as much of the information as I could handle. I loved learning about the various battles that took place nearby and poring over the many maps and models. If you prefer a guide, ask for Miguel, especially if you only speak English. Don't miss the interactive areas upstairs as well, where you can climb in submarines and get some really unique photos!

Cartagena has little options for kids, but this museum is a great one and a must visit for families. It has Boat, submarine and helicopter simulations (like real size cabins) that the kids will love. In fact, I’m still inside the museum writing this review because my 7 and 4 year olds don’t want to leave. 🤣

This museum is really fun, covering indigenous people of the area, the history of Cartagena and the navy. There are a lot of interactive displays which I am sure is great for kids. As others have noted, the text is largely Spanish only, so it took a while with Google translate (photo). As some of the text is on glass it was hard to read. I spent maybe 1.5 h in the museum and would have spent more if it wasn't for the language barrier. If there is a chance to have an English speaking guide, I would recommend that.

Our tour guide was very engaging. The museum has lots to do with interactive exhibits including ships and submarine. Watch out for the ghost!

I'm not interested enough in ships, and while our group had an English guide, I much prefer reading displays in museums and read the few English ones there (nice overview of Cartagena's naval history) instead. Enjoyed the folk dance & music performance and the presence of actual navy dudes (on leave??) though.
