Pumapungo Museum

Very nice museum, well maintained and spacious. Lots of history besides the artifacts that were excavated over the years. Could have more English translations (have some but not for all exhibits). The shrunken head exhibit was very interesting and gave us goosebumps. The ruins and “park” were serene and beautiful. Fish pond & bird sanctuary were nice touches. Same with the Llamas! And, all this was free! Enjoy!

Best shrunken heads in town! Ok I’m joking but the outdoor part is really worth it - and the inside of the museum is full of great artifacts. A must see museum if you’re visiting Cuenca and want to learn more about the indigenous history.

A very nice free museum with many ancient Inca artifacts. Also has a lot of cool exhibits featuring the native peoples of each geographic region of Ecuador. My biggest complaint is not very much is in English and I can’t complain because it is a Spanish language country. The surrounding ruins and botanical gardens featuring native foodstuffs such as quinoa was interesting along with adjoining aviary with many beautiful birds.

What a wonderful museum that we almost missed. On our last day we decided to go. The exhibit, the art, and the gardens. Everything we saw, was enjoyable, educational and worth the visit. Do not miss this beautiful place that celebrates the Ecuadorian culture.

This place has many things to see. You must see the ruins, but I loved the historical homes throughout the years that were created inside the building. Take your time. Friendly staff too. And no entry fee.

such a neat and expansive museum. several different exhibits with different themes. many of them are interactive, so you can draw or make art - i really love museums that invite you into the experience like this. i have been twice and easily spent 3+ hours each time. so awesome that it's free!!

This is a free museum where you can enjoy different types of expositions. There is always something new to see except for the exposition about the regions of Ecuador. You can also see some of the Incas old settlements and the area for the protected birds.

It was a free meuseum but I expected more antiques. It was mostly new built items showing natives life styles.
