The 20 Best Things to Do in Bogotá, Colombia (Updated 2025)

"I explored Museo Santa Clara and found it to be one of the most beautifully decorated churches-turned-museums in Colombia: built in the 17th century and deconsecrated in the 1960s, its walls are almost entirely covered by over 148 baroque paintings." - Matthew Kepnes

Free for seniors, show passport photo. Otherwise 41k per person. Accessible from plaza Bolivar and enter where the guards have blocked the street. Must show bag content. Informative digital kiosks with interactive buttons for several languages. A tour guide might be nice if you want a long tour. We preferred self guided, reading the placards. Use chapgpt for highlights. We visited on Sunday around 11am and practically had the place to ourselves. An interesting way to spend a hour being surrounded by 🎨art. No banos on premises for tourists.

Must see. Admission was COP 40,000 (which is around $15 USD. Cash only!). You could spend 10 minutes or 2 hours. It’s only the one room, so what you see is what you get. But still, it’s one of the most unique places I’ve ever seen. It’s right next to Plaza Bolivar, so the location is near the other museums and is very safe. Don’t leave Bogotá without stopping in!

Foreigners - don't waste your money it's 43,000Pesos/ $10USD to enter meanwhile locals are paying 6,000/ $1.50USD. The space is tiny and currently undergoing renovations, so it's not even peaceful inside. I wish I hadn't bothered going in tbh

Admission is $10 usd for foreigners. There is stunning baroque architecture inside along with mesmerizing Catholic art pieces. There was an exhibit at the time which took up a lot of space in the center but was still interesting.

Absolutely amazing display of art both old and modern in this very unpretentious building. A must see but check the opening times as they are limited and when we visited armed soldiers were closing off streets but access was permitted if you explained you wanted to go to the museum. My only complaint would be that none of the descriptive and detailed texts were available in an English version.

This was a big effort to get to. central location but so many police barricades and need to take circuitous diversions to get there. Once you’re in it’s overwhelming. What an amazing place and space. It’s a challenge to know where to test your eyes. Glorious 17th C church, once the cloistered home of nuns. The decorations in the church are sublime. Not a tranquil feeling though x

This is a tiny church that was converted into a museum. If you are a foreigner they will charge you approximately 10 US dollars to enter. In my humble opinion that is too much since there's not a whole lot to see (it is impressive, however), but you can go into several churches in Bogota and see something similar for free (San Ignacio church is one example). If you are 60 or older you can get in for free and also it's free on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m.
