I was enthralled around every corner—there are so many types of exhibits that engage the visitor in different ways. There are immersive moments where you are part of Sicilian life before and after the war. There are animated maps that compress the invasion into just two minutes so you can see the 5 army’s movements. You can be with the Italians defending a pillbox (or be in front of it!). There’s artifacts, noises, voices, names, uniforms, dioramas, diagrams and more. All five armies are represented. The museum is HUGE though it looks small and unassuming from the outside. We spent over 3 hours there and could have spent more time. There are many signs in English along with the Italian. You can also get an audio guide included in the entrance fee. Easy walk from the Duomo of about 25 minutes most of it along the wide level path by the railroad tracks. ADA accessible throughout. Parking at the paid lot or on the street. Clean inside and out. I was also glad to see a school group on a field trip, though they went through quickly, I hope they got something out of it.
