10 Things to See and Do in Girona, Spain (Updated 2025)

"Housing the region’s largest collection of Romanesque and Gothic art — over 8,000 items — Girona’s Art Museum is surprisingly extensive for a small city and well worth a visit if you appreciate medieval art. Admission is 6 EUR." - Matthew Kepnes

There is an interesting collection of catalan art through history. I would recommend it, especially if you enjoy seeing decorative art. I enjoyed the visit overall, but one thing kind of soured our experience: there was a rude security guard who actually YELLED at my family when we tried to enter through the direction that we were directed towards by the staff who checked our ticket! We later saw other people enter in that same direction, so I still don't understand why he did that.

What a wonderfull museum, the collection of romanic figures and capitals are of un unprecedented beauty. In addition to this you can see medieval and renaissance tabloids and pictures, in particular the altarpiece of St. Feliu

Amazing exhibit, lovely gift shop with friendly staff. My only complaint is the lack of aircon but I understand that may have been to preserve the art. Definitely recommend.

Insightful museum about the history and developments of religion and art in Girona and fringes of the Catalunya region. I've learnt immensely about the history and art pieces of San Felix by the likes of Juan de Burgunya and the masters before him. Highly recommend this place for an eye-opening and enriching experience.

The pottery in the museum was absolutely my favorite part. Otherwise it’s very heavily religious and a bit overwhelming in that regard. The building itself is lovely and the staff was very kind. I would love to see some newer works by younger artist from the region, one of the paintings had been hanging there since 1865, it was a lovely painting, but there’s so much out there that could be placed in that beautiful space for a while.

It definitely worth a visit. A lot of romanic and gothic masterpieces. The picture i'm posting is kind of a 3D artwork, a sculpture composed to be hung as a picture, i think it's XVI century maybe? There is a funny museum note, about this Saint Sebastian.

Great art in a great building, much of it on a religious theme. Inspiring stuff, well worth a visit
