Muséum de Grenoble

This is a great place to take the kids! The exhibit is covers the ground floor plus two upper floors. The exhibit on the first floor (second floor for Americans) covers the fauna of the Alps with plenty of animals to see. The upper floor has geology from the region. On the ground floor opposite the ticket counter and next to the gift store is the display for prehistoric flora and fauna. English is available on some of the exhibits. In the Jardin behind the museum is a play area when the kids need to burn energy.

Small but really nice museum with a secret but impressive tropical garden. It was fascinating seeing all the plant while outside it was cold, really enjoyed the visit

The museum is free to enter but you still need to register yourself in the front desk. Basically its divided by three topic: the taxidermy, fossils and stones/crystal. When I went there, there were a lot of children and i guess its a good educational experience for them!

The museum is great value at 5 EUR and will take you around an hour to explore it's 2 main floors. The exhibition's were interesting but note there is no English everything is in French only. Staff were nice and toilets were also available. Worth a visit if you are in Grenoble.

Its not a huge museum but they have a wide variety of things from taxidermied animals, minerals, a LOT of fossils I loved staring at the fossilized flowers and the dinosaur eggs, but my favorites were the crystalized bark, they have some really pretty pieces. the touchscreen guides work but,,, barely. i gave up on them halfway but my visit was enjoyable nonetheless.

I was really pleasantly surprised by this museum. Having nothing to do in Grenoble, I stopped by and really was impressed by the minerals, insects, and animals. Found it to be extremely interesting because it all tied into the Alps' natural history. Small but worth it- especially because it's free for those under 25!

A beautiful museum. The building itself is wonderful. The staging of the animal species is spectacular, a work of art, full of drama, managing to give each animal the leading role in the scene, you can even hear the birds singing while they show you which bird it corresponds to. A truly varied insectarium with species that are very well preserved and adapted so that everyone can appreciate them. The rock room is phenomenal, plus the plant garden and vivarium are completely wonderful. Absolutely recommended.

A true beauty in the center of the city! If you are looking for a park for your kids or just a nice place to eat a sandwich with a beautiful view on the mountain this is the place. No cars around, some grass to sit, a playground for the kids and a peaceful atmosphere.
