Museum Gherdëina

Though this place may be small, it had great information about the area, the formation of the dolomites and the people and their customs worth the trip to Ortisei if you are taking a break from skiing and stopping by to learn about the history of the area

Museum of local culture and natural history. While the collection was unexpectedly vast, I feel it is best to visit only if one has a special interest in the topics.

The museum has many exhibits on woodworking, various types of stones, and notably, a part of an ichthyosaur fossil.

Stumbled across this place by accident. Was an interesting place to spend an hour of extra time. Not really much a museum girl but was something to do.

We visited Museum Gherdëina on the last day of a week long stay in Ortisei, and it truly enhanced the cultural, linguistic, historical, architectural, geological observations we had been making and discussing during our travels. I was happy to support this museum and their work to preserve thousands of years of history and culture in the region. I urge anyone with a critical and curious mind to visit.

Cool little place with an introductory film and a small VR exhibit. Woman at the desk was super friendly.

Small, 8 euros is hugely overrated, considering what is shown and the museum size I would find appropriate 3 euros no more
