Museum Holstentor

Holsten Gate (Holstentor) is the trademark building of Lübeck. If you visit Lübeck, it must be the first place in your bucket list. After leaving behind the central train station or bus station, you will begin your Lübeck walking tour from here. Recommended!

Lübeck is a small town and beautiful place to visit. The Holsten Gate is a beautiful entrance to the old town and is the symbol of the city Lübeck. It is free to walk around and take pictures of the gate with small garden. Museum has a entry fee.

Friendly staff, interesting exhibition you can visit in about 45 minutes. Some nice views.

You see this old building when you enter the city. It gives a fairytale vibe. I really like the ambiance. Also i took pictures in the evening.

Beautiful, historic, serene place to walk around. Lots of transport nearly, you can get here but a bus or the main Lubeck central station is about a 5 minute walk only. Recommended..!

The Holstentor is such a wonderful landmark which luckily survived to the modern age. The inside holds a nice little museum with different themed rooms and also a rather beautiful model of the medieval city.

Holstentor is the gate which separate the old town from other in Lübeck. Its unique look also made it become one of the famous sight in the city that the people shouldn't miss. Compared to the rest of the Germany, this is probably the only gate have been in this architecture style. As soon as I saw this gate somewhere. I could recognised the city right away. And the gate also turn in the symbol of the city. You could serval local brand also use it one way and other as their logo or figure. The Holstentor itself isn't so big, but yet very well known and historical. This is no doubt one of the place you can't miss in Lübeck. My suggestion, try to walk along the river to get here, it'll be worth it.

Holstentor is a symbol of Lübeck at the entrance to the old town. Roof is made of copper. It is a black roof now, because it was repaired a few years ago, to change the color weaker after some number of years. A must-visit museum during your tour of Luebeck. Situated inside of the city's most famous visual landmark, the Holstentor museum displays artifacts from the city's history and tells the story of Luebeck long ago. Tickets are 5eu and well worth it. Staff is friendly (and speaks English), guides are personal and you'll learn a great deal about some of Northern Germany's rich history and culture.

From initial looks, this landmark looks like a castle with no walls. But it's not. It's the gate which separated the old town from the rest of Lubeck. A great place to stop by if you're in Lubeck!

This building is the symbol of Lübeck. I find this architecture really magical... The city of Lübeck is so wonderful !
