I stayed here for one night on the way to Langkawi after a few days staying out at Batu Ferringhi. I made a booking off Booking.com but hadn't realised just how small my inside room would be. I spoke to reception and asked if I could upgrade to a larger room as I would be crazy by morning due to the miniscule size of the room I had booked. The wonderful young lady on reception found me the most glorious room with a large king size bed, beautiful shower room and three shuttered windows which opened out to the street. I had no issues paying extra but this wonderful lady upgraded me for free as she was in a position where Room 15 was available. |I LOVED MY ROOM! ||The whole hotel is steeped in colonial history with beautiful antiques throughout. ||I had the most wonderful "Eggs Benedict" in their breakfast room the next day. It truly was a glorious stay and i absolutely shall be using this hotel next time stay in George Town. Thank you to the two young ladies on reception who looked after me splendidly & the two young men in the evening. ||The only thing I would do differently is add a bar to the rooftop. The view is spectacular across George Town but you get up there and aside from a view there is no mechanism to get a drink. Add in a shaded area, a bar for a stiff gin & tonic & the view and you'd have a perfect hotel experience!

We stayed here for a few nights and enjoyed our stay. Staff are friendly and helpful. Our room is clean and serviced daily. The pillows and mattresses were very comfortable. There is always a fresh scent in the air as staff mop, wipe and clean common areas regularly. Our room was split level with a lounge downstairs and the beds upstairs. Breakfast is served in the next door Boomers restaurant area, serving a selection of western style hot breakfast. |The surrounding area is close to lots of attractions and shopping including eating and historical areas. Very central.

Me and my family stayed at Museum Hotel for 8 nights and it is hard to fault anything. Absolutely incredible from the moment we arrived to departure. Communication was incredible between front desk staff, and breakfast and dinner crew was also absolutely lovely. The housekeeping staff also were incredibly friendly and approachable for any concerns or even for a nice conversation to start or end the day. The location from everything is so central which made it really easy to navigate the city. I would definitely stay here again and recommend to others wanting to explore this amazing city. Many of the staff members definitely went above and beyond to make the stay a special one. If there should be anything to improve on, I would like to address that some of the food and beverage staff could have payed a bit more close attention to structures regarding what they have available and there could have been a set expectation in place so that everyone can be on the same page when it comes to service, as there were a few incidents where we were told they were out of some things, but then when we asked later on to another member of staff they said they did have these things available.

We spent 2 nights at this hotel in November 2024. The ambience at the property was nice. The service offered by the staff was commendable, rooms were clean, and breakfast was good. There was an issue with the supply of hot water in the washroom, which the staff offered to rectify. However, since it was a short stay, we managed. Overall, we had a wonderful stay at this hotel and would definitely recommend.

The room was ok but the location was really bad and too inconvenient. Breakfast is too limited. The room is very comfortable but don't choose next to street view too noisy! The wood floor is very cranky to step. During booking picture look so elegant but when you checked in zero

Had a great stay at The Musem Hotel. The staff were very friendly, helpfull and polite. They upgraded our room without us even asking, when they saw that we traveled with a little baby. The room was a very cool duplex. Interesting architecture and general vibe. Nice western breakfast menu. Dont know what else to say. I would recommend everyone to stay here and would gladly come back!

Not Family Friendly It’s a colonial building built in the 1800s , it’s been refurbished reasonably well , location is quite central Great for those who wants to feel the colonial era . This breakfast is an ala carte selection ,only properly 5 to 6 items to choose from , but the food is good , do take note , the coffee payable if you order a latte or something else instead of their normal pot coffee given . 1. The pool is just a small pond , misleading for a swimming pool 2. Qi Lin room , its like a duplex where the rooms are on the 2nd level , entrance on the first level , the staircase have very sharp edges , can get cut easily , you will have issue to carry up and down your luggage , and not recommended for kids below 7 or people who have issues on stairs climbing especially with luggage , accident prone on the staircase and the low ledge , that could ruined your holiday . 3. While we were reminded to check put before 12.30pm , as a family with 3 young kids , understandable that we may encounter some delays , at 12.30pm , the staff was barking us more than once to vacate the premises , and at 12.51pm when i checkout , they Charged us 20 dollars for 20 minutes , after staying 4 days and 3 nights in the premise , this leave a bad taste , the feeling that we are being chased out after we are no longer a guest is an unpleasant ending experience after a wonderful visit in Penang , I was planning to tip the staff for more than the meagre surcharge. , that made me changed my mind . 4.The car park is just an open air area very limited lots . 5. Part of the lobby was undergoing repairs for the wooden piling , and the part was barricaded , the thing is , if I knew this was happening , i will not have chosen this place for my stay in Penang , premise should be forthcoming to informed guest on This matter . More suitable for couples or singles , not a place to stay for a family retreat .

I enjoyed my stay here. Very effective air con, well located yet tucked back from the hustle and bustle of George Town. I appreciated being able to leave my luggage here before and after check out. The building was really charming and incredibly functional at the same time. The pool was small but still served its purpose in providing respite from the heat. I would return here.

Yelp
1600! The Museum Hotel is a heritage hotel located in the heart of George Town, the capital of Penang. It is within short walking distance of KOMTAR and a couple other adjacent shopping malls. Finding this hotel initially was difficult as it is on a side street. The side street is off Jalan Transfer and close to Jalan Hutton. You will know you are on the right track if you come across a bakery called Maliia Bakery at the corner. When you come to that corner, walk down that side road. As you walk towards the hotel, you will see the big hotel sign towering above. Although walkable from KOMTAR, I would recommend taking a taxi the first time you come here to familiarize yourself with the area. I don't know if the hotel can arrange transportation to get here, but I know that they can book a taxi for you to the airport. The hotel interior is beautifully decorated and filled with antique furnishings. As the name of the hotel suggests, there is a museum within the hotel that guests are invited to view by appointment with the front desk. Though this is a historic heritage hotel, the room furnishings are modern. Inside the room you will find a comfy bed, a LCD TV, air conditioning/fan, a safe, a fridge, free Wi-Fi and a large bathroom with a sizable shower. Hotel staff also leave a nice local snack nightly for guests in the room to enjoy. A complimentary breakfast is served to guests daily in the lobby courtyard area. You must order the night before. There are five selections to choose from. There is a dim sum option alongside several Western offerings. The meals come with fresh fruit, yogurt, juice, a choice of coffee or tea and a local dessert. What makes this hotel exemplary is the great service. It is the best I have ever experienced staying at a hotel. In fact, Museum Hotel has been named one of the top 25 hotels in Malaysia for service by TripAdvisor. Each hotel staff member I came across was wonderful and very friendly. They even recall guests by name. If you prefer a hotel with history and colonial charm over a resort hotel on Penang Island, Museum Hotel is a great option. The excellent service and central location in particular standing out.

Yelp
I love museum hotel, their service is top notch! Plus the decoration of the hotel is really bringing back the old heritage style of Penang. I love also how the rooms are very spacious, with high ceiling and clean bathroom. The last time I went there, when I checked in the receptionist, they gave me this really awesome lemongrass drink that is so sedap! You can even ask couple more times if you want ;p Plus they are very attentive, and doing everything very quickly. The surrounding is pretty quiet so that is probably the downside of this hotel, but Penang is pretty chilled and not as scary as Kuala Lumpur walking at night, so I wouldn't really bother with the location especially if you are driving. Price wise is a little bit pricey. I stay one night for around RM200++, but then I think with that amount of money, I do get the best service they could give for, and definitely will come back!
