The hotel exceeded our expectations. Beautiful decor with many authentic details down to the kopitiam style coffee cups. Staff was friendly and helpful. We had the Qilin room which was spacious. Bathroom was also very spacious. Only the pool is a bit too small to be considered a pool. Overall a great stay.

We stayed three nights at The Museum Hotel and were pleasantly surprised at how atmospheric it is. Chinese antique furniture, a colonial-style facade and well-appointed rooms. The staff, including one of the receptionists (I think her name is Nene or something similar!) was particularly helpful as were the two young men who were in attendance on different days. The general staff were also very good. The hotel is close to a number of food courts at which the food is fresh, plenty of choices and very quick service. A Grab or taxi can get visitors to places of interest within minutes. Definitely recommended.

everything was perfect. the heritage building is well maintained alongside its vintage furnitures. the hotel compound is small but the narrow hallways are nicely decorated with little ornaments and traditional wall decors. my room was really nice and cozy. major love for the old-school window that reminds me of my late grandmother’s kampung house. bed and pillows were soft and comfy, room is clean and well kept. toilet was also clean with hot, high pressure shower. definitely will stay here again if i’m back in Penang ☺️

The hotel overall is quite nice 😊. The rooms were okay, nothing too special but comfortable enough. Service was decent, the staff did their job. Location was fine, it got the job done. I enjoyed the food, especially the pie 🥧 and those delicious-looking spring rolls 🥟. The Hainanese Chicken Chop is also quite well cooked and has big portion. Just the price is quite a bit higher than the smaller food stores.

One of the best nostalgia hotels I've stayed. Beautifully restored. Bathroom is perfect size with heritage style tiling. I had a triple room with beds upstairs (possibly a little steep ). Downstairs is desk, small sitting room and bathroom. TV is huge and is in the bedroom. Floor boards squeak but that's part of it's charm. Coffee was quality... Best order double shot. Location is just a short walk to Jalan Penang and Jalan Chulia (party central - nightclub and bars). Komtar is also a short walk away. 101 bus takes you to 2 quality shopping malls - Guerny Plaza and Dragon. Highly recommended

Is a boutique hotel with unique design and renovation. Very friendly staff and it has all u need. Parking, wifi, restaurant, a rather small pool. Hehe. Best of all, it has a roof top that open for fireworks viewing, it is not a tall building yet good enough to enjoy 360 degree during 2025 to 2026 new yr countdown.

The hotel is well located and the rooms are visually pleasant. However, we paid for a hotel and got sleepless nights instead. Loud supply deliveries directly in front of the hotel continued until around 3 a.m. on both nights. Reception was informed and did nothing. At breakfast, the menu clearly stated drinks were included, yet we were charged extra and the staff refused to acknowledge their mistake.

Beautiful older style hotel with fabulous decor in the George Town World Heritage buffer zone. Great service from all staff, Agi was especially helpful and gave us knowledgeable advice about things to do. Bed was very comfortable, A/C was fabulous and it’s an easy walk in to the heritage core zone. Highly recommended

Yelp
1600! The Museum Hotel is a heritage hotel located in the heart of George Town, the capital of Penang. It is within short walking distance of KOMTAR and a couple other adjacent shopping malls. Finding this hotel initially was difficult as it is on a side street. The side street is off Jalan Transfer and close to Jalan Hutton. You will know you are on the right track if you come across a bakery called Maliia Bakery at the corner. When you come to that corner, walk down that side road. As you walk towards the hotel, you will see the big hotel sign towering above. Although walkable from KOMTAR, I would recommend taking a taxi the first time you come here to familiarize yourself with the area. I don't know if the hotel can arrange transportation to get here, but I know that they can book a taxi for you to the airport. The hotel interior is beautifully decorated and filled with antique furnishings. As the name of the hotel suggests, there is a museum within the hotel that guests are invited to view by appointment with the front desk. Though this is a historic heritage hotel, the room furnishings are modern. Inside the room you will find a comfy bed, a LCD TV, air conditioning/fan, a safe, a fridge, free Wi-Fi and a large bathroom with a sizable shower. Hotel staff also leave a nice local snack nightly for guests in the room to enjoy. A complimentary breakfast is served to guests daily in the lobby courtyard area. You must order the night before. There are five selections to choose from. There is a dim sum option alongside several Western offerings. The meals come with fresh fruit, yogurt, juice, a choice of coffee or tea and a local dessert. What makes this hotel exemplary is the great service. It is the best I have ever experienced staying at a hotel. In fact, Museum Hotel has been named one of the top 25 hotels in Malaysia for service by TripAdvisor. Each hotel staff member I came across was wonderful and very friendly. They even recall guests by name. If you prefer a hotel with history and colonial charm over a resort hotel on Penang Island, Museum Hotel is a great option. The excellent service and central location in particular standing out.

Yelp
I love museum hotel, their service is top notch! Plus the decoration of the hotel is really bringing back the old heritage style of Penang. I love also how the rooms are very spacious, with high ceiling and clean bathroom. The last time I went there, when I checked in the receptionist, they gave me this really awesome lemongrass drink that is so sedap! You can even ask couple more times if you want ;p Plus they are very attentive, and doing everything very quickly. The surrounding is pretty quiet so that is probably the downside of this hotel, but Penang is pretty chilled and not as scary as Kuala Lumpur walking at night, so I wouldn't really bother with the location especially if you are driving. Price wise is a little bit pricey. I stay one night for around RM200++, but then I think with that amount of money, I do get the best service they could give for, and definitely will come back!
