I visited this charming archaeological museum and had a fantastic experience! Although it's a smaller venue, it is impeccably organized and very informative, with English translations for all exhibits. The museum focuses on Viking history, Norwegian heritage, and the reconstruction of historic buildings. The exhibits are engaging and offer fascinating insights into ancient lifestyles and artifacts. You can comfortably explore everything in about an hour and a half to two hours. The museum is easily accessible from the city center and has a lovely café for a relaxing break. Plus, there are great souvenirs and interactive displays. Highly recommended for anyone interested in Viking history and Norwegian culture!

Very interesting artifacts here and a cafe. A good mini side trip before or after walking around the old town. Recommended!

Interesting exhibitions, with good descriptions. Not big museum, but enough to get to know. Recommended for kids: they have quiz with prizes, some activities like coloring. There is also museum shop and cafeteria. Great experience - you can spend there around 1.5-2h easily.

Lovely bit of history of the Vikings. I could have spent hours and hours in this place just taking every single bit in of what they have of the vikings. It is filled with allsorts of items and skeletons. They have colllected a whole lot, this place is worth coming to visit if ever in the area. There is also a lovely cafe situated in the building if you need to take a break before taken on the reminder of the museum. To make it even more worth while there is a gift shop as your on the way out to take some valuable gifts home to remember this amazing visit.

Fascinating story, painting and bones of Stone Age 8000 year old child. Info was in multiple languages. Resting benches easily available. Food in cafe was great!

The Museum of Archaeology in Stavanger is excellent. The exhibits are well presented and cover a fascinating range of history, from the Vikings to the region’s earlier past. Everything is clear, informative, and easy to follow, and the staff are welcoming. A must-visit if you’re interested in history and archaeology.
