The Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade (Muzej savremene umetnosti Beograd – MSUB) is one of the leading cultural institutions in Serbia, dedicated to modern and contemporary art. Founded in 1958 and housed in a striking modernist building since 1965, it was one of the first museums in Europe focused exclusively on contemporary art. Its unique geometric structure, designed by Ivan Antić and Ivanka Raspopović, is located at Ušće, where the Sava and Danube rivers meet, making it a landmark of Belgrade.
The museum’s collection includes over 8,000 works from the 20th and 21st centuries, featuring prominent Yugoslav, Serbian, and international artists. It showcases works by Marina Abramović, Petar Lubarda, Dušan Džamonja, and other influential figures. In 2019, Abramović’s retrospective "The Cleaner" was one of the museum’s most visited exhibitions, drawing global attention.
In addition to its permanent collection, MSUB regularly hosts international exhibitions, film screenings, and experimental art performances, making it a vibrant cultural hub. Its location in Ušće Park provides a stunning view of the city, attracting both art lovers and casual visitors alike.
Entrance to the museum costs 600 RSD (~ 5€) for most settings. In the museum, there is a wardrobe, toilet, a seating area and sales of brochures and souvenirs.
