Museum of Discovery

Took my son here- he loved it and couldn’t get enough. It was a quicker visit than we would have liked, as it was a spur of the moment drop in, but my little family still had a blast. We almost couldn’t pull him away from the area that had the nets and climbing tunnels. We got to see some cute animals, ran into a couple of people we knew (small world), and learned a lot! The gift shop had tons of goodies in it. We will definitely be back, so we can spend a good amount of time and do some hands on experiments.

Visited the museum with my two kids 7 and 4 on a Friday afternoon. The Museum is modern, clean, spacious and the exhibits are fun, interactive and engaging. There were not too many visitors and so my kids got to enjoy every area completely with very little wait time or no wait time at all. There are 2 levels and we found that 2-3 hours is enough time to see everything but you could easily spend more time. There is a playground area and a play room with little kids space. There is a dining hall but no food available for purchase so I’d make sure to bring your own food if spending a few hours here. There were a couple of exhibits that were out of order but I find that to be average compared to other museums we visit. Overall this was a great experience and I found worth the ticket price and I would return again as would my kids who had a great time and learned a few new things as well.

Do you want to visit a place that is a valuable asset to the Little Rock community? Do you need a place to visit that will let your littles have a place to wonder and explore, but also be able to accommodate the older children and even adults? The Museum of Discovery is all of that and above. The Museum of Discovery in Little Rock, Arkansas is a fantastic place for both children and adults to explore the wonders of science and technology. From the interactive exhibits to their focus on STEM, the engagement it can help create is something for every age. I took my 4 year old and was in amazement at the wonder and excitement this place brought him. The newest areas that are geared towards his age are also the epitome of what makes up Arkansas with a wildlife and outdoor feel and play to the room. We were there for about 3 hours and my son was still engaged in it all. If there are any negatives, it would just be that it does get relatively busy on the weekends. Tips for your visit: *Consider weekday visits: To avoid crowds, consider visiting during weekdays or during off-peak hours. *Check the schedule: The museum often hosts special events and workshops, so check their website for upcoming programs. *Allow plenty of time: Plan to spend at least a few hours at the museum to fully explore all the exhibits. I highly recommend a visit to the Museum of Discovery if you're in Little Rock. You won't be disappointed!

They have discounted tickets for SNAP recipients. We made a quick stop and were there for an hour and a half and didn’t get to all of the exhibits. My 3 littles loved the fishing area, it’s an area for under 6 and the STEM room. My older son, 16, enjoyed the exhibits and all of the hands on science stuff. Definitely recommend stopping by and taking more time to be there.

We had such a wonderful time exploring all the interactive exhibits, there’s truly something for every age. The hands-on activities kept the kids completely engaged, and I loved how each section blends fun with learning in the most natural way. From science experiments to imaginative play areas, everything is thoughtfully designed and incredibly well-maintained. The staff was friendly, patient, and clearly passionate about creating a great experience for families. It’s the kind of place where play sparks curiosity, and curiosity turns into real learning. Highly recommend to families visiting Little Rock or locals looking for a fun, educational outing. We’ll definitely be returning! 🥰🌟

It was a fun place but honestly not what we expected it to be. We've been to the kids museum in NWA and this was sooo different. I dont think we'll be back.

This place was awesome, hands-on and completely interactive for kids and adults. So much for the kids to discover and special presentations happened all day long. Definitely going back.

Oh my god the Tesla Coil!! I think I enjoyed that more than my kids. The museum was amazing and I really wish we could have spent more time there. It’s a great place for kids of all ages to learn, play, and burn off a little energy.

We bring our four grand boys here on a regular basis. They really like the place and it is very safe for them. They change some of the exhibits every so often. This has a really interesting history of its beginning.

We have now been a few times and always enjoy the museum. They do a pretty good job of changing things up so it's not always the same. There are usually some things broken so that's the only reason for 4 stars. It's not cheap but it's a fair price overall. You can spend several hours here and there is a nice little state park behind the building that will add a little time to the stop.

We got here at 3pm and wish we would have had more time. The people here were very friendly and helpful. The price to get in was very reasonable. I couldn't believe how few people were here but it must not be spring break for them. We loved all the hands on activities they had. The earthquake pad, laying on a bed of nails, balancing on a board. We couldn't have really spent 4 hours here. The kids enjoyed so much. There were only a few things out of order but they had such a great variety of things to do!

This was a really cool experience! My nephews really enjoyed themselves, the exhibits were easy for the children to explore and it has a nice amount of space for the children to play and learn while still having fun.

This was a fun area to explore while bad weather was outside. It was around $38 for an adult and two kids (7&8). There's two floors and lots of activities to stimulate their mind. My children had lots of fun playing in the jungle gym. I loved the different themes and how educational this place was. It wasn't busy on Thursday which made it nice to take our time and explore the different areas.

Our kids love discovery museums and this one did not disappoint. We came with 2 adults and 5 kids and admission was $60... a little on the higher side. Arrived around 1:30-2pm on a Saturday and this place wasn't busy at all! (That's a good thing when you are outnumbered by kids). There were so many interesting exhibits for the kids (and us) to play with and learn. I especially loved the human body exhibits. Interesting fact, I have approximately 9 pints of blood in me. Alrighty then! The kids had so much fun. The one exhibit they were expecting because we saw it from photos of this place was a news broadcasting area. We never saw it. Perhaps the exhibits change out from time to time. Loved it. We highly recommend!

Learned what a bridge was, ten out of ten experience. Also Miss Becca makes amazing ice cream, I would reccomend.

Our son had a good time exploring and trying all the exhibits. There was a lot for him to do and we enjoyed getting to do some of the exhibits. There was a wide range of things to do and explore.

This museum was really well put together and very fun. Our child loved it and we did as well. Our favorite part was watching the Tesla Coil in action. Highly recommend visiting this museum with your family.

We had a super fun day at the museum. It was a little chaotic with summer camps visiting but there was so much to do it didn't bother us too much!

This was a fantastic experience. It was cold and rainy and this museum was perfect for peaking the interest of all ages and getting us out of the house! Worth every penny!

A fantastic way kids and kids at heart to spend a couple hours in downtown Little Rock. There are plenty of interactive exhibits are both entertaining and educational. Our group enjoyed the mind ball game, weather news broadcast booth, the dinosaur exhibit and the earthquake simulator. We especially enjoyed the Tornado Alley Theater, that allowed us to experience the 1999 tornado that hit downtown Little Rock. I also appreciate all helpful volunteer workers who will demonstrate how to work all the interactive exhibits. Overall, it was an engaging experience that was worth the entry fee.

Español abajo. It was a great museum as well with so many different interactive exhibits. There were so many science demonstrations. We went to one about a Ruben's tube machine that made flames dance with music, on about liquid nitrogen, one with a big bipolar Tesla machine that played music from the electricity between the poles, and another demonstration about animals and feeding mice to snakes. We got the museum pass to the Amazeum in Fayetteville and with that, you can go to a bunch of other museums like the museum of discovery on the same pass- great deal! They had a live Vortex show and the staff member who was teaching it- Seth, was extremely knowledgeable and interacted well with the kids. There's a little area inside for kids to play, and lots of little sections to learn

Best museum for kids! They had a Tinker event for kids. My son is 3 years old and he had so much fun in all of the museum. There are dinosaurs and many hands on activities. The price is great. You can literally spend hours here. Will be coming back when we visit Little Rock again. Everyone was super friendly. There's a playground inside. Great learning experiences.

This museum is great for kids above 3 as a lot of the rooms were a bit too old for her. We stayed in the 'room to grow' which had a boat and slide, rock climbing, tables of magnets, Legos, etc. There were a few play areas which had a cow, boat, kitchen, and a castle theater. We walked into the other rooms like robot which seemed pretty interesting. Magnets and lights. There was an area of reptiles, fish, insects, a ferret, and a bird, which took about 2 minute to walk through. I added a few more pictures to yelp so people can get an idea of what's at the museum besides the fish. Overall it's good for older kids. Price is $8 for kids under 12 and $10 for adults.

We stayed in downtown walking distance to the museum and let me tell you we had a blast! My daughter is 9 and we were here for just about two hours checking out everything this place had to offer! Our top two favorite things was being able to try to pull your own weight and recording us being news broadcasters! Check this place out if you are visiting

This was a neat little place. While we were visiting from out of town, we were recommended to take the kiddo there by my brother who lives in L.R. to give him something to do during the day. The place is right by the river downtown, and when you go in, there is a gift shop, a small place with vending machines, and then you get to the action. I think it's about $10/person to get in, and well worth it if you need an afternoon of letting the kids run around and do some "sciency" things. There's all kinds of experiments, etc on the top floor, a really neat air tube thing where the kids can put colored handkerchief looking things in the tubes at the bottom, and air blows them up to the top and shoots them out to be caught. On the bottom, the neatest thing was a "tornado room" where they simulated an experience as told by the news from tornado in L.R. back in 1999. Next to that is a "do it yourself" experiment room that our son also found pretty neat. They have some animals, snakes, spiders, lizards, etc in the back also, and was actually mildly entertaining for the adults too. Overall, it was a neat experience and one that was worth the entry fee. We wouldn't make it a habit of going all the time, however, as it is only 2 floors and wouldn't take long for kids to get bored if going in repetition. For a new treat, it was pretty cool though.

We just moved to little Rock some time ago and went to the museum of discovery on a friend's recommendation. My son is 1.5 years ago and absolutely LOVES the place! Needless to say we got the annual membership and visit the place at least twice a week. He lovesss the "room to grow" play area... he loves being able to touch everything, play with everything, and we try to teach him a little bit of science while he does that. Highly recommended for kids of all ages. Definitely a good way to spike their interest in applied sciences

We visited with our 2 year old, my parents and my 19 year old brother while visiting Arkansas and all ages enjoyed themselves (and maybe even learned a thing or two!). Even on a Saturday in June it wasn't crowded. Nearly every exhibit is hands-on and interactive. They have a play area specifically for kids under 6. The place felt clean as it could be with lots of little hands around and everything seemed well maintained. We were there for about 2.5 hours just before closing and it was plenty of time to see and play with just about everything. I'd say the only downside was the cost of the parking in one of the local lots but other than that it was a fairly affordably, family friendly activity.

A good discovery museum for big kids, not recommend for young kids though. The staff was very nice.

While small and relatively modest compared to some others I've been to, the Museum of Discovery will absolutely make your child's wildest daydreams come true. From the small collection of animals, to the two floors of interactive exhibits, this is one of the coolest daytime stops you can make in Little Rock :) It gets a ding for me because it's really not meant for childless adults during the day, but it makes up for that by having once a month "Science after Dark" events, where the exibits are open exclusively for the 21+ crowd - no kids, and beer and wine vendors share space in the lobby, competing for your attention. To give you a hint of what Science after Dark can be, my two favorites this year have been the Science of Beer (I was fascinated by the physics of Flip Cup) and the Superheroes event where friends of mine posed for pictures with Thor's Hammer, those were fun. I had an absolute blast here, and can't wait to come back with my future kids and/or my nieces and nephews!

What a little gem this place is!!!!!!!! We stayed downtown and took our 5 and 2 year old here. Absolutely loved it!!! Super interactive and wonderful!!!!! Our kids loved it as well. Plus the staff is very nice and helpful and the museum is very clean. We will definitely go back next time we are in town!!

Great place for a toddler. We paid $80 for a yearly family of 5 membership and go at least 1-2 times a month, it's like a big wonder place for him! He loves it! Sometimes some things haven't been working here lately is the only downfall.

Pros: fun things for kids to do for a couple hours. Cons: 18.00 per adult, dirty walls and everything felt grimey.

Enjoyed and very impressed that almost everything was interactive. Fun for all ages!

My husband and I brought our 7 year old daughters here and we had a blast. It was entertaining for all of us!

We all had a great time at the museum, even my husband! Lots of hands on activities. We spent an hour in the first room alone. We were there on a Tuesday afternoon and almost had the place to ourselves. The facility was clean as well as the bathrooms. The only thing that would have made it better if they had germ-x dispensers along the wall. Touching all that stuff freaks me out a little. Side bar Free tip to "some" grandparents: people that are out with their kids want to spend time with them. I know you think your grandkids are awesome so put the book down and spend time with them so others don't have to dodge them. PS. I realize that probably makes me a jerk.

The Museum of Discovery has made huge improvements in the past 6 months! The renovations they put in include a new entrance, large gift shop, and many new science exhibits. They really did a great job! Not only do they have a large floor full of science experiments in the Discovery Hall, yet they also have the health & wellness section (titled "Amazing You!"); the Earth Journeys exhibit; birds, reptiles, and such; and a rotating exhibit. You will also still find the area for smaller children with all kinds of things for them to climb on; a stage for dress up; and multiple toys. One of the most fun features of the museum includes a floor to ceiling pipeline of sorts that allows you to stuff balls & tissues into it. You can see the items flow through the pipeline and then have them spit back out at you from all angles. Both kids and adults alike love it. I also found the tornado exhibit very interesting. It's definitely been around for awhile, but allows you to feel like you are in a tornado, as the lights, windows, and doors interact with the TV newscast that is being broadcast to you. One other thing to point out - the last Wednesday of the month the Museum of Discovery hosts "Science After Dark." I had the pleasure of going to the Wine & Chocolate series, which offered insight into the science of wine, chocolate, and also offered free samples of each. Most importantly, it allowed us to peruse the museum without any small children running around our feet! Enjoyed it.

Couldn't agree more with Mary and Kelly. My wife and I along with our 6 year old and two year old all found something to do and enjoy. I even found myself getting down on my hands and knees to see one of the Alice in Wonderland exhibits. Our youngest loved to see the reptiles and absolutely loved the childrens play area.

Everyone from our toddlers to the grandparents in our party enjoyed their time here. Exhibits are scientific enough to amuse the adults but interactive enough to entertain the children. Appreciate the fact you and come and go for the day so you can leave and grab lunch. Gift shop also has affordable items. Enjoyed our visit!

I bought a membership for my husband, daughter and grandchildren for Christmas! We love going here and there are so many new and exciting fun things. It's a great place to spend a couple of hours or the whole day.

We took a 14 month old and they charged $8 for her. There was only one age appropriate thing for her to do and the older children made even that difficult because they would snatch things away. I realize the staff cannot police things but at least have a graduated price for children under 5 like better, more modern museums in Raleigh, NC and San Antonio, TX do. They have more things and are newer and cheaper. Also entrance and restrooms are not very accessible for one person with a stroller.

What a great museum! this place isn't just for kids! Even big people like this awesome facility. Everything is VERY hands-on and fun. The staff is great and the exhibits are amazing. This is a great place for field trips, birthday parties, or just a Saturday afternoon outing. And with it's great location in the River Market district, there are lot's of great restaurants nearby. Check it out!!!

Such a great place to kill time with the little ones. They enjoy it thoroughly. There are exhibits for all ages.

Our 4 year old had a fun day at the museum. There is a indoor play area restricted to the little ones where he was able to get his wiggles out. Very clean and great staff. A fun day.

Just an all around awesome place to spend an afternoon with any age kids. So many exhibits and all are interesting. Modern and clean there are so many things to do. Fun and educational!!

Thanks to Government Shutdown 2013 our plans to visit the Clinton Center were put on hold but the giftshop staff gave a good recomendation to this museum next door. We spent about and hour and a half here (side note: two adults, no kids) but could have easily stayed longer. The exhibit space is very hands on and I really enjoy how the explain science through ordinary things - hey, it's been a long time since I took a science class. The kids around seemed to love iut but us adults hada lot of fun too. I was iffy about the health / body exhibit for fear of it being icky but gave it a try as it is made for children. The brain wave game was fun but the real fun of our visit was the motion / energy claculator - you run, walk (or in our case dance) in front of the camera and the clip of your motions are displayed on the screen with a calculation of your energy level. Since there were not kids around we might have had a little bit too much fun doing crazy disco moves here. On the bottom level there is a VERY well done experience that goes through what it is like during a tornado. Bottom line, this is a great place to visist for kids - actual kids or the inner kid in us adults.

The Museum of Discovery is currently closed for a complete renovation to transform it into Arkansas' premier science center. A grand reopening is scheduled for January 2012.

Me and my boyfriend are in our 20's and we had such a good time here! Completely worth the $10 ticket. We were in this museum for over 2 hours and still didn't get through all the interactive things. It's huge and everything you do there is super fun!

This place is wonderful for children and those young at heart. Love the science being explored here. I wish they have more circuits and computers, but the other stuff is spot on. The content is a bit small. You probably can zip through the place under 2 hours. Not so bad given the admission price.

if you have little kids then go. if not then don't waste your money. we stayed about 45 min to an hour got bored and left. half of the stuff was broken. they have a special room for the little kids. this place is about a fourth of the size of the stl science center.

Loving this museum. Staff is so friendly and wanting to be sure we are happy etc. We are ASTC Passport holders and they were so easy to deal with when coming in to "pay". Only complaint I would have is that there's no designated parking. We drove from out of town and had to find street parking with meters.

I come here most months for the science after dark events. It's the adults only event on the last Thursday of the month. All of the special tables that go along with the theme for the events are always interesting and fun. The different activities that are permanently there are interesting and fun as well. The staff at the museum are wonderful and super knowledgeable. During the days it is more kid oriented for kids 3 and up. My niece who is about 1 and a half enjoys it but doesn't do much since she's so young. I would definitely say to check it out if you have an older child or if your around for the science after dark events

I can't really say it any better than Mary. It's definitely fun for adults, as well as kids. It's a fun place with lots of interesting exhibits. If you want to take your kid someplace where they can have fun while learning, and not get in trouble for touching all of the exhibits, take em here! You'll have fun, as well!

This place is awesome! My girls are enjoying all of the different sections and everything they have in them. They have literally touched everything. Be prepared to spend some time here. It took us a little over 3 hours to do everything but they enjoyed it and so did I. We will be visiting again!

WONDERFUL WONDERFUL WONDERFUL place to have a childs birthday party. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The cost to rent the space and admission for everyone attending is a great deal. How great is it when you can combine a fun birthday party with exceptional learning experiences? The party rooms are spacious with plenty of seating and room to move around. Of course, you won't spend a lot of time in there anyways because you'll be out in the museum. There is something for all ages. The adults will enjoy themselves as much as the kids. My only negative is of course, the parking. But don't let that stop you from holding an event there. It's worth walking one block from the public parking garage.

Would have to give it 4/5 stars.. very nice place with alot of hands on activities for the children. Came to little rock for just a little trip for the kids on spring break and they loved it! My 2 year old daughter love the little section for 6 and younger. Spent about 2.5 hours there and enjoyed it! Kind of like the STL science center but smaller!

We took our 2 year daughter here from 9:30-11:30am. She loved it. I recommend going early, like when it opens. It gets busy pretty quick.
