Museum of La Rioja

Ligrono, Spain captivated me with its unique blend of urban vibrancy and rich history. The city's charm lies in its tranquil atmosphere, offering a refreshing escape from bustling crowds. Great museum and free entrance

Very nice collection, good organized and presented by centuries, it shows overall history of region. Staff is very kind even they don't speak foring language. Warm to recommend.

This museum is a gem (AND FREE)! A wonderful synopsis of the development of the region from prehistoric times through modern periods transitioning from artifacts to art in a beautiful way. The blending of history and art is done magnificently here. A decent portion of the painting and statuary were on loan from the Prado and the national museum of Spain. Make this stop if you are at all interested in where this region came from or in history or art in general! Excellent works from the 16th century to mid 20th. We also visited the temporary exhibit on women who helped make Rioja what it is today which was a nice correlation to the main exhibition.

Very worthwhile visit. The permanent exhibition is extensive and interesting beginning with a historic film and covering various time periods. The staff was very nice and inviting. It's a very nice visit of about an hour.

Nice refurbishing of an important old palace with contemporary additions, plenty of interesting exhibits of paintings and artifacts, there is also an interesting film about Rioja. There is no parking anywhere around but a nice walk to it.

A really interesting museum, through the ages in the region of La Rioja from early man to the 20th century. Very nicely laid out and all descriptions offered in English too, plus the videos are subtitled. Free entry!
