Museum of Mayan Culture

I was a little disappointed. It wasn’t air conditioned. There were some cool stele and a few vases etc. but a lot was reproduction. There was a good bookstore but little in English. And in the courtyard are galleries of good art so that was a bonus. It had really rained the day before and the top floor of the museum had many puddles. I told them. Somebody could slip, as well as it not being good for museum pieces. In my opinion there’s enough Mayan stuff to share it around so all museums have cool stuff.

Very interesting museum! I think they can add a bit more information in general. Feels like they only scratch the surface. Lighting is a bit of a problem and it is really hot and humid inside.

This is a concise compilation of the Mayan civilization all under one roof. Especially if you have already experienced various sites first hand the artifacts and interpretations help to wrap up the site specifics into an overall cultural ball. Especially liked the Mayan clock and calendar. Yes, the interactive displays no longer work, text is small and lighting is low, but I did not find these to be so significant. Also preferred the replications over the authentic originals as these had better detail and it is good to leave the artifacts in their original location. Definitely worth an hour or so of your time.

Worth the admission and is in both English and Spanish. Lots to learn very informative and can easily spend a couple of hours. After the museum can view galleries for paintings of local artists and sit in courtyard with seating. Very relaxing

The museum is wonderfully arranged, although the exhibits need more modern methods of presenting information. Don't miss it. It will take you 40-50 minutes to see it. The museum is located in a complex with several galleries and a bookstore. The exhibits are of contemporary Mexican artists. There is a small but very useful hall with brief information about the nearby Mayan sites that you can visit.

It can be seen that it was once an interactive museum, but now it is abandoned, many interactive functions do not work. Tickets for foreigners - 110 pesos.

I’m not a museum expert but I really enjoyed my time here. Very interesting and the dim lighting creates a mysterious atmosphere. Most of the exhibits are reproductions but it was all very nicely presented. There is also an outdoor area featuring a recreation of a jungle village as well as side galleries with modern art.
