Nice Museum in an old building in the Center of Klagenfurt. In the first floor you will the exhibitions. Lovely rooms with old ceilings. I like the mix between the old building and modern art. In summer there is an open air cinema in the great Courtyard. Unfortunately you are not allowed to take pictures.

Top museum with a very interesting collection and professional team to maintain it. Well accessible, children friendly, very central. A must during the visit in Klagenfurt.

It seems that the collection changes frequently through loans and when we were there i thoroughly enjoyed it. Was also free entry that weekend. Bigger than I expected, definitely worth taking a look

The Museum of Modern Art Carinthia is an institution of the province of Carinthia, which, according to its educational mission, is committed to the public, society, and the arts, to the artists. The Museum of Modern Art Carinthia is the successor of the Carinthian Provincial Gallery, which was reopened in 2003 as a Museum of Modern Art Carinthia after a major reconstruction of the building and whose infrastructure, content and responsibilities it has taken over. The Museum of Modern Art Carinthia is dedicated to the collection, preservation, exploration, documentation and mediation as well as the general promotion of modern and contemporary contemporary fine art, as it was formerly the Carinthian Provincial Gallery. It is a place of encounter and active engagement with new and newest art trends and tendencies. These will be presented in a varied exhibition program with supplementary scientific publications and conveyed in a wide-ranging accompanying program vividly and discursively, and documented in the art collection through acquisitions. The Museum of Modern Art Carinthia manages two art collections, the art collection of the province of Carinthia / MMKK and the collection of Artothek / Kärntner Landesgalerie. The latter is the picture rental office of the Kärntner Landesregierung, which is also run by the Museum of Modern Art Carinthia. The collection area of ​​both collections refers to works of the 19th, 20th and 21st century, the focus of the collection is on works by Carinthian artists or with Carinthia reference. The in-house librarymainly serves scientific research in the home. It mainly includes publications on artists of the own art collection, as well as exhibition catalogs of well-known museum institutions in the German-speaking and in the Alps-Adriatic region. External visitors can access the library on request. The archive documents the artistic life in Carinthia in a collection of newspaper and print collections.
