One of my the most favourite places in Marrakesh! The exhibitions are nice and delve deeply into the local culture. A few tips: 1. Explore the section where you can try playing the local instruments - that's such a big fun. 2. Go for the local music concert in the evening (unforgettable event, you can see the schedule on the website). 3. Have a tea or dinner on the roof. 4. Explore the decorations of the house - they are truly unique. 5. Talk to the director of the museum - Patrick is such a lovely person who despite personal hardship choses to look at the light and became one. Thanks to the museum team for unforgettable experience!

A really nice museum, and with the same ticket you can visit the photography museum as well! Great deal. Normally I wasn’t getting too excited about going to the music museum but as it was close to my Hammam appointment and got the ticket already through the other museum I went, and did not regret. It’s small but very beautiful. Even met the owner who explained a bit about the rooms, renovations and how to interpret the different decorations and paintings. Very interesting to hear from him directly about the history and meaning of the place! The rooftop is also a great space with a beautiful view. Trust the signs to get there! The roads may make you second guess but you are at the right place.

Surprising little gem in the heart of the Medina. This interesting museum has well preserved instruments and photo displays outlining the history of musical instruments in Morocco and Africa. Displays are well-signed in English and French and there are some videos as well. Well worth the visit and you also get entry to the Photography Museum.

Being a longtime music lover and musician i never miss a chance to educate myself in foreign cultures music history. In Marrakech, this is the place. Nothing modern here, we are talking traditional ethnic music. Most notably you will get an idea of the influence of African tribal music on northern Africa musical culture. (I only regret there wasn't too much about the religious side of Morrocan music, especially the chants.) Lots of instruments of all kind there and even if the quality is not so great, some video footages with sound. A little cafe upstairs and a room where you can try some of the instruments but they are less than pawn shop quality ^^ for kid's tryouts maybe. Ask the gentleman at the entrance if you're interested in live Music they organise a few live shows during the week in town.

At the photography museum we were told that we can visit the music museum with the same ticket, so we went! We were received by a very welcoming young gentleman who gave us some insights in the building. The museum is situated in a beautifully restored riad, this alone is worth the visit. The exhibitions are also really cool, there is a lot of sound and instruments. You can even play some instruments yourself! The roof terrace is also nice and quiet comparing to the medina hustle.

Best museum in Marrakech! Beautiful building with interesting and informative displays. Text in English and French, photos, videos, audio, and instruments you can try. Clean toilets. We went to Bahia Palace in the morning and this museum was much better and worth the price. The only place I actually learned something about Morocco and the different people groups here!

Not very big but interesting. In addition to the musical instruments specific to Africa, you can admire some very beautifully decorated rooms in traditional Moroccan style. Besides, there is also a cafe with a terrace on the roof, with a pretty nice view.

Resist temptation to touch any instruments but keep an ear out for the beat of the music on the videos played on screens. You'll need it for when you get to the instrument room where you can play your heart out, as loud as you wish. The rooftop terrace is gorgeous in its own right and worth a visit, shaded with live plants and naturally cool.
