Museum of Nottingham Life

Neat little museum in Brewhouse Yard, one of Nottingham's most interesting areas. The museum occupies four 17th century cottages, each depicting the home of a different former resident with connections to the textiles industry that once dominated the city's economy. This immersive layout gives a sense of what life might have been like, enhanced by interactive exhibits. The staff were really friendly and happy to answer any questions. After looking around the cottages, you can walk through caves that were used as dwellings, for storage and as wartime shelters. The small garden area within Brewhouse Yard is well maintained. Access to this museum is included in the ticket for Nottingham Castle, one of the city's top attractions.

A small little museum inside Castle of . It shows life of poorer houses in Nottingham in the past. The displays are educational, you can even learn how laces are made and try hands on doing laces. The entrance is included in your castle ticket. Recreated rooms, shops, air raid shelter, real caves, and even historic playrooms with toys through the ages. All carefully annotated. It's funny seeing bits of your own life in a museum. More colourfull flowers in the garden would attract more visitors, a vivid enviroment is vital for tourism. The staff is very nice, helpful and gladly answer your questions.

This interesting museum looks at how poorer people lived in Nottingham over the years. It is included with your castle ticket.

I loved coming to this museum as it was extremely interesting.

Amazing variety of exhibits, looks small outside but is huge, good job they have a good system of arrows or you are unlikely to get out, if you wanted to. Allow plenty of time a lot of detail to absorb. Recreated rooms, shops, air raid shelter, real caves, and even historic playrooms with toys through the ages. All carefully annotated. Well worth a visit but careful of opening times, currently weekends due to shortage of volunteers. Free but they appreciate donations to keep this marvel open.

Very interesting small museum, depicting the lives & trades of various non-conformist families & Nottingham notaries through the ages.

I did not realise we had such a museum, why is it hiding from me?! Today of all days when google asks me to review it! If I had found it I would 100% give it five stars, even if I didn't like it. For hiding though?.. One star, very disappointing.

Exterior need large containers with sessional flowers to enliven the vicinity helping to make the Museum's exterior far more inviting, good tourism is vital.
