Museum of Photographic Arts at The San Diego Museum of Art

It was closed today, but I’m gonna try again tomorrow because it looks fantastic and I as a photographer myself are excited to see a museum about my own craft! Stay tuned!

Second time being here and loved it both times. The Storyteller exhibit by Holly Roberts currently on display right now is amazing. This museum is a participant of NARM, so it's free for pass holders, but I'd gladly play full admission. It can take about an hour to get through the space if you show interest in most of the pieces. Well curated and appropriately lit for viewing, we enjoyed our short time here. They had a small but well stocked gift shop that had the perfect magnet to memorialize our visit. I'm actually regretting not picking up the Roberts exhibition catalog when I was there. Of course, art is subjective, so you may or may not appreciate the exhibit. I guess you'll just have to go and find out!

Great space to see a show or to learn a little history on Photographic Art.

I enjoy stopping by this little museum. Right now they have some interesting artwork from local high school students as well as James Balog. I liked Balog's endangered species works, especially, "Man and Ape" as well as the Panda photo shoot. Follow me for more reviews!

I like this museum. The collection photos are amazing. The staff is very friendly. I attended film festivals in the museum theater. The lobby is a great area for people to visit and discuss the movies

Check the exhibits before you visit! I’ve been a handful of times before and enjoyed this small museum. Today I was warned that they only had two small exhibits open, but they didn’t disclose that those small hallways were 90% modern art and 10% photographs. As a photographer myself, extremely disappointing. They are also still suggesting full donation price! I know this museum is capable of more, truly disappointing that they don’t have actual photographs on view while their main exhibit is closed.

We went here for a homework assignment and brought the kiddos. The museum was great and had a fun activity for the little ones to do while we looked through the photos. Their exhibits were very interesting and we spent about an hour there. Definitely entertaining and the staff was great!

This photography gallery has free admission, but donations are highly recommended. I was amazed by the exhibition of the children's photography. Ther is a great future ahead of them. In addition, more interesting exhibits are on display. The museum also has a bookstore. Highly recommend visiting.
