Absolutely AMAZING museum. They have really beautiful and interesting instruments, in a wonderful building. I highly recommend this for anyone, especially (but not only) musicians!

An amazing collection of instruments from nearly 500 years ago, in a beautiful classic building in the heart of bologna. There's a lot of potential for this collection, and I just think it's a travesty to have these machines collected in one place, no longer serving their purpose of making music! As a visitor you can listen to recordings of the instruments on your phone, but I found it very difficult to resist the urge to play them and hear the acoustics in real life! Surely there is a small robot that could be built that allows guests to hear these things in all their glory? The temperature made it hard to stay in one place, and we were followed around by a lady working there which made us feel a bit uncomfortable.

I liked this Museum more than Museo Internazionale and Biblioteca della Music as the instruments were more colorful. The palace, where the museum is, was made on the old church of Saint Colombano probably from 616 AD, there are beautiful frescoes on the walls and some ruins downstairs. I am not so interested in the musical instruments, but they were so beautifully painted and so old. Don't forget to ask about free audio guide :) With Bologna Welcome Card Easy you will enter here free of charge. You need about 1 hour to see everything with rather slow pace :)

Recommend! A lovely little music museum. The staff is friendly and polite. Interesting and beautiful pieces. The creations is done in a loop so you don't end to go back and forth!

Beautiful museum in an old church. Focused on keyboard instruments such as clavichords, organs and pianos with some very interesting odd pieces thrown in. The collection is definitely worth seeing.

Quite confusing layout and the audioguides are rendered inaudiable if anyone else is speaking in the room. I guess it proves how great the acoustics of the rooms are. The museum has many rare instruments and frescoes - one early Medieval in the crypt and many Baroque ones by the school of the Carracci. They were all right but not as good like those in the Museo di Palazzo Poggi. The museum was pretty low on my priority list but if you understand music better than I do, then you will probably have a better visit.

Ancient church that now houses a collection of musical instruments. I went to the museum, which was a great visit, since it's a really beautiful place. They also have frequent evening concerts

Impressive collection of historical instruments. I consider this a hidden gem in Bologna, as it's not appreciated as it should be. You don't have to be musical to appreciate these art pieces.
