A Museum of Selfies Is Opening in L.A.

"Just when you thought selfies and museums couldn't be possibly more intertwined, a new institution combining both is opening. Meet the Museum of Selfies, which will prove that the art of selfies extends beyond the Museum of Ice Cream and Yayoi Kusama exhibits. In fact, it dates back 40,000 years, according to the museum. The Los Angeles-based pop-up, which runs from April 1 to May 31, will also provide backdrops for those who've come in search of a photoshoot. The museum offers an educational yet playful approach to providing a lens on human history and art through immersive and interactive installations, while poking a little a fun at itself and human nature. From cavemen drawings to a 'Narcissist' installation to a vertigo-inducing rooftop selfie illusion, the museum touches on a variety of points in human history that examines the intention of the selfie and what it means to the artist and its viewers. The Museum of Selfies, which takes about 60 to 90 minutes to go through for a $25 ticket fee, comes on the heels of the world's first exhibit on the history of the selfie, which opened place at London's Saatchi Gallery last year."

This place is fun, smaller than I expected but with a lot of information about selfies as well as several sets to make a memorable selfie. The place was not packed so it was easy to takes pictures without waiting. The owners were there, they are the nicest people, explaining the exhibits and helping to take the best pictures. I was expecting to be there for 1h but ended up spending more than 9p minutes. I just wish they had more exhibits and the lighting was better. Plenty street parking and on a City lot about 1 block away.

The museum of selfies is so cool. The museum is a self walk-through museum where you can take selfie‘s.They Provide you with a selfie stick if you don’t already have one,but you return it when you are done at museum. I purchased my ticket online and with tax and fees my ticket cost $27.05 .The location is on Hollywood blvd and there was so much traffic and it was hard to find parking. I suggest taking a Lyft and getting dropped off so you don’t have to worry about parking and somebody else can drive in the Hollywood bvd madness. I was having trouble taking selfies and coming up with cool ideas so the helpers stepped in. They have people that work there that can take pictures for you or give you ideas which helped me out so much. I went at 11 AM it wasn’t crowded but later on in the day more people started to come and then you have to wait your turn to take pictures in the different areas. My suggestion would be to go as earlier as you can so it’s not that crowded and you don’t have to wait to take selfie‘s. The people that work there are very nice and had great customer service it’s a fun museum you won’t be disappointed.

Check it out if you are in hollywood for sure! Try getting there in the morning to avoid crowds of people. The staff provides phone stands to take better angled pictures for $7 and they also have lockers for bags.

Went here with girl friends during a weekend trip to LA! The museum is really cute with tons of fun photo ops. It’s kind of dirty though, I definitely didn’t want to touch anything there. But the photos are fun and it’s super fun to go with friends and take fun photos for the gram! Would recommend!

A bit small and homespun for the $20 price tag, but fun on a rainy day and worth doing once if you have kids or are otherwise selfie-obsessed. The Iron Throne and emoji ball pit are fun. You can look like you're floating in your bedroom, pose for a step-and-repeat at the Selfie Awards, and take a bath in a tub filled with gold coins. There are even some staged vignettes that show you how to pose so you can tell a funny story frame by frame. Of course it doesn't matter if you've REALLY done any of the above—this is the age of social media. The Museum of Selfies is not the museum we want, but it's the museum we deserve.
