I really loved this museum! It’s small but very interesting, with well-curated exhibits about Aleutian history and culture. The displays are informative and beautifully presented, and the staff is friendly. There’s even a free admission day each month, which is a great bonus.

This is a must visit, for anyone thats wants to know more about the history of the people and the area, we found the exhibition, to be so informative, and well presented, we left with a better understanding of the area and its people.

Museum curator was our historical guide in this remote village which was instrumental in preparing to retake Ata island from the Japanese in WWII. Here were the staging grounds for an often overlooked battle with many casualties on both sides (mostly from the severe elements). The island hold many abandoned gunnery sites, military hospitals and complexes abandoned by the US military in 1946. If you happen to make it to this remote island, the visit to the museum is a treat.

Must to visit... Is not 5 stars because the museum staff does not recognize seasonal workers in the fish industry as residents of the island...

Fantastic museum! Very nice gift shop. And the lake usually has otters that are not super shy.

One of the best museum experiences I've had. I learned so much! Being in the lower 48, you don't learn about what happened up here during the war and what the native population went through. I'm thankful that I took the opportunity to go and that this museum educates people about that happened.
