A very nice Museum about the history of Merida. There are cards in Spanish and English which tell you about the history of the city and it gives a good overview for someone, who doesn't know anything about the city's history. It is free, but there aren't that many things to look at, which is fine for the cost. On the ground floor there is a history exhibition and on the upper two floors various artists present their art.

In 4 seperate halls you get taken through the history of the city of T'ho, better known as Mérida. From ancient times to pre-hispanic times to conquistadora to modern times, Mérida is a city with a story. And this museum is here to tell it. There is an exhibition in 'Hall 5' with photos from the USA and México, but it is not at all connected with this museum

This museum is wonderful and it's free too! It seems to be a converted colonial mansion and it's been kept in great shape with the original pasta tiles, (it's what the colourful tiles are called here). It's located at the edge of the main city market and there's a beautiful large outdoor terrace on the upper floor where you can get a great view of it. The museum features the history of the city on the first floor and has galleries on the second that show contemporary, mostly Mexican artists. I'd highly recommend that you visit this museum ( it's nice and cool from the air conditioning) and then pay a visit to the Galvez market. The two of these will give you a wonderful experience of the city!

Three stories of local art and history. A great break from a hot city.

A nice little museum. Not much to see in the permanent collection, but their current installation was incredible. The henequén dresses were so beautiful. The 'history' of fashion in the Yucatan was fun with the presentation being very creative.
