Museum of the village of Nerja

Just visited last week and what a great experience. For a small town this is decidedly a 'Capital' experience worthy of Malaga or even Madrid. The well designed multimedia exhibits cover the whole spectrum of Nerja history from the earliest times and even references the tragedy of the Civil War, a topic so often 'hidden under the carpet' in Spain. If you haven't been I'd urge you to visit and give yourself plenty of time to take it all in.....

Interesting museum and a decent price. Loved learning more about the Nerja Caves and the city of Nerja. I didn't know the Olympic torch was carried through the coty in 1992. The movie about the caves was ver educational. The exhibit on the music festival was fun to learn. Not a bad way to spend an hour.

A small but nice museum covering interesting aspects of Nerja and surroundings. For example, the Roman times (there is still part of a Roman road there), the sugar factory, the defence towers along the coast, the caves, the guerillas in the mountains after the civil war etc. Only 5 euros to enter, definitely worth it.

A very nice place to visit in conjunction with the Cave of Nerja. The kids audio game made the visit very interesting for my 8-year-old son. The exhibitions are very interesting and privide lots of information about the area. A must see!

Great little museum. It's strength is the finds from the nerja cave. Some really nice stone arrowheads, pottery shards etc. the display panels offer an excellent overview of the Phoenician, Roman and arab periods.

We enjoyed this nice little museum on a rainy day in Nerja. It tells the story of the area very well. I knew some of the history of Andalucia but nothing about the silk or sugar cane industries before. A good range of exhibits from prehistoric times and the geology of the caves up to the TV show that was filmed here.

Beautiful well designed museum. Shows the history of the area, artifacts and information on the caves and special attractions. Highly recommend. You should see the museum before the caves. As well, if you buy tickets to the caves ( which you can buy at the museum), the museum is free.
