Love this place, good food and very reasonably priced! The queen scallops are small but very tasty and the sauce of the mussels leaves you wanting more bread to dip into! Always make this a to go to place when in Glasgow!

The restaurant lacks a bit of atmosphere, it's not exactly cheap so I think it should have some nice touches as opposed to for example, very basic furniture. Saying that, the food is really nice. I had the mussel platter and it was delicious, good value too. The place is a decent choice for seafood if you're not after any fancy dining experience

Tried the mussel inn today as fancied a wee change and we weren't disappointed. A warm welcome as we walked in and we were shown to our table the staff took our drinks order and our drinks promptly arrived. We had both tucked into our starters before I thought about taking a picture to share as the smell was amazing and we were both hungry. The cajun squid was cooked to perfection as were the shallot mussels. Then the seafood platter's arrived and as well as being visually delightful the flavours of all components were equally delicious too. The staff were friendly and very professional. I would recommend the Mussel Inn to anyone wanting a good plate of seafood in a nice relaxing atmosphere.

Good quality seafood in a friendly atmosphere. Menu is seafood focused with limited offer on meat dishes. Wine list is short and sweet.

We ordered a lunch special which is the seafood chowder with fries and a 1/2 kg steamed mussels. Both are very delicious. Mussels are fresh. The reason I only give four instead of five stars is because the soup is a little bit salty to me. Other than that everything is great.

Google
I always visit Mussel Inn when in Glasgow. They serve fresh seafood of excellent quality. I like to experiment and their menu always have something exciting to choose from. The staff is very friendly and happy to answer any questions. My recommendation: start with oysters and get one of the scallops mains!

Yelp
Does not exist. We went to Banca Di Roma and had a fantastic meal outside and drinks upstairs. One of my friends wanted to know how much a bottle of the Japanese whiskey was, but upon hearing the price we all decided on our own individual drinks. :)

Yelp
Met Herself in here for a wee pre-Christmas lunch date. I've been in a few times before, but only for lunch so I don't consider myself to be fully indulged in the seafood cornucopia that is Mussel Inn. As it was only lunch I restrained myself and opted for a starter of the fish cakes with a side order of chips, which was just as well as the fish cakes were a tad on the small side. This was mildly disappointing at the time, but actually they would have been fine as a starter if you were moving on to something more substantial. I was glad I'd ordered the chips as well though. Herself as usual went for the eponymous bivalve molluscs that are the house speciality. These were quite on the large side, and disappeared before I had a chance to get a picture of the bowl so must have been good! An Americano coffee to finish was of good strength and taste, even if it was only just over half a cup; presumably they were leaving a gap for the milk that I didn't ask for and don't want. Still, I guess if they'd topped it up with water it would be weaker and that would be almost as big a sin. The restaurant is quite large and was pretty empty on this particular lunchtime. They have a mezzanine area upstairs that you can rent for private groups, which would be great if you had enough folk who were seafood lovers.

Yelp
Yum. Yum. And Yum. Popped in here for the "Lunch Quickie" pre-set menu on the recommendation of a coworker--SO glad I did. I ordered the mussels (shallots version, that comes swimming in a divine broth made up of shallots, garlic and cream *drool*), side of fries and a soda--all for only £7.95. It also comes with a side helping of bread to indulge in that heavenly sauce when all your perfect mussels have been devoured. The rest of the menu, including the specials of the days looked equally delicious, but I couldn't pass up on the classic lunch menu. Service was prompt and friendly and I will definitely be returning anytime I find myself again in Glasgow for work! Highly recommended! Enjoy!

Yelp
I came here for my 21st birthday meal and I wasn't disappointed. The restaurant is lovely and airy inside, although it was slightly lacking in atmosphere when I visited (to be fair it was a Tuesday night). What it lacked in ambiance, however, it certainly made up for with the food. The menu is great, with a large choice of seafood dishes as well as a few vegetarian and meat options. I wanted to try everything so it took a while to decide what to have. To start I shared a kilo of Moroccan mussels. These were delicious, with plenty of bread provided to mop up the cooking juices. To follow I chose one of the specials from the board. I had sea bass with chorizo, fried potatoes and feta cheese. It is not a combination I would have put together myself but it was delicious. The fish was perfectly cooked and the addition of chorizo (one of my favourite foods) just made it even better. I would definitely make another trip back - there are so many dishes on the menu I need to try.

Yelp
The steak was regular. The pasta and mussel platters were good and they are big in portion. They are generous in the serving. Definitely recomend the place if u like to eat mussel

Yelp
Had dinner here recently and wasn't disappointed . Food was terrific and service was really good too . We were seated and served in no time . We would highly recommend it .

Yelp
Seafood, eat food. It is difficult to describe the rapture of dipping your bread into leftover musselsauce after you've shoved half a kilo of mollusc into your gob. I'd heartily recommend this joint for bargain seafood. The staff are lovely and the food is top notch. Be sure to order with blue cheese sauce for best results. Bravo!

Ross M.

Yelp
Best meal I've had in Glasgow! Mussels were perfectly cooked and not rubbery. Bread was crusty and ideal for soaking up the juice. Just delightful.

Yelp
Mussel Inn was incredible all around. The food was amazing and the wait staff was much better than I was expecting. As an American, I often expect slow, inattentive service here but Mussel Inn provides a great mixture of the relaxed, social environment that is intended here, as well as great attention to detail and needs. 10/10 would visit again. The Kilo mussel pot was incredible.

Yelp
Popped in last Friday for a wee change from Burgers and Curries :-D Having not been to the Mussel Inn for a number of years (had curried risotto with pan fried halibut..mmmm!). I was quite looking forward to seeing what was to be had. As it was just after work, pre-theatre options were available. I went for fish cakes (off a la carte) and fish and chips to satisfy my current craving. Fi had a queenie scallop starter and King Prawn stir fry thingie lol. Bread came over warm, nice - but not when butter is hard out of the fridge. Also, it was just bog standard costco baguette with no flavour whatsoever. Starters came & the fish cakes were teeny... like really teeny! Flavour was meh.. nothing special and for £5.90, you'd expect more and better. Fiona's scallops was a better starter for sure. Mains followed pretty quickly after & whilst Fiona had another decent dish, the fish and chips were simply awful.. Fish was rectangular in shape with a limp eggy thin batter, not dissimilar to a battered sausage supper from a chippy. The chips were cheap frozen pale examples. The worst part though? The taste of the fish... Knew there was something wrong & couldn't put my finger on it until I returned it... Server had neglected to mention it was Coley, not cod or haddock. I personally, hate coley.... Offered me something else in place, but Fi was halfway through meal & the taste had put me off my appetite. Whilst they took the fish off the bill, they missed the point by charging full whack for everything else, not realising this was a meal out for two people & an experience is just as important as the food. £35 not well spent going to McDonalds afterwards! All in all, not quite what it used to be & I'd work harder on informing customers on what is being served, caring more about ingredients & giving customers a dining 'experience'. Sorry to say, I won't be back again after this experience. You don't gotta eat here... :-D

Yelp
Came in on a Wednesday afternoon after strolling down Buchanan Street. I ordered the lunch special And got mussels, a salad, and a drink all for £7.95. My server accidentally brought me chips so I stole one just to give it a try. Eh, was happy to have ordered the salad packed with cherry tomatoes, peppers, and red onions. Mussels were steamed perfectly, no over cooked rubbery bits. They generously give you a basket of bread for your soaking pleasure.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my visit to Mussel Inn. It has a very nice atmosphere, kinda homey yet modern and clean looking. The room is open-plan and airy. They have a strong yet quite small menu, specialising of course in seafood and mussels in particular. I got the the mussels in Moroccan sauce and it was amazing! Nicely spicy and the quality of the mussels were very good. The wine selection was also excellent and I was pleased with the food service. I would definitely go again.

Andrew M.

Yelp
The Mussel Inn is a really really really good place for a seafood meal. There is a great selection on starters, main courses and desserts and you will not be disappointed with the food that the chef has cooked up! If your feeling hungry then you will need to go for the kilo of mussels cause you will be in mussel heaven, as they are delicious with either option you want with the favour. I had the seafood linguini and it was really good as it had different types of fish and the pasta was tasty as well. I then had strawberry cheesecake to finish off and it was the perfect way to finish off a great meal. The restaurant is big and the service is really good. I will be going back to try other meals on the menu.

Gillian H.

Yelp
+ Bright and spacious. 1/2 kilo of mussels is enough on its own but the side salads are a lovely addition - crisp and tasty. The mussels themselves are as fresh as you'd hope. Good for a quick bite after work. - Lacks atmosphere, even when it's busy.

Rich F.

Yelp
Excellent service! Great staff. We probably could have skipped the chips. 2 1/2 kg of mussels- one shallots and the other Moroccan. Shallots came first. Traditional white wine, garlic. Very good. The Moroccan exceeded expectations. Very pleased. We also had the seafood pasta. A bit light on seafood other than mussels. Overall an excellent meal. Would go back for sure

Sarah K.

Yelp
Fantastic!!! Went there for an exam results celebration, and it was great. The service was friendly and fast, nothing was too much trouble. The food was magnificent, and the portions were just right. Would definitely recommend that you finish your meal with an affrogato. The only minor tweak I would suggest is that they implement child-sized portions

Rachel D.

Yelp
Well since everyone in the place had a pot of mussels, so did I (garlic). Delicious! Seated back by kitchen, a bit too much of cooking smells, but we didn't have reservation on a Fri night, so was happy to get any table. Enjoyed it very much.

Yelp
The food is great and plenty, esp. if you enjoy local seafood. No choices except shell-fish and seafood, but that is not the reason i take give it 2 stars. The prices i believe do not accurately represent the cost of the ingredients, and the restaurant itself is in need of a make-over if to charge what it does. Advertised as informal, the Mussel Inn is certainly that- almost breaching on a cafe, rather than a clever, Scottish catch. Staff I found not rude, but rather dazed and not much attention paid with regard to drinks or orders. A shame for such good quality food that is served here.

Christie G.

Yelp
The waitresses were very nice and made good recommendations. The seafood was good and the portions were large enough to split between two people. The dessert was kind of meh though. Would go back.

Yelp
Had dinner here twice recently. It was sooo good the first time had to eat there again on our return to Glasgow. Both times I had the Seafood pasta dish the mussels, shrimp, fish and scallops were great and the sauce was excellent. The others in our party had the mussel special of the day, curry prawns, the scallop dish. Everyone thought their meal was terrific. If i'm in Glasgow again, I'll definitely eat there again.

Greg F.

Yelp
My biggest disappointment here is the service. I dined alone, in the early evening hours and was virtually invisible for at least 15 minutes, the first time! I went back on AUG 12 at 730p and did not get asked for anything until 750 and that is after I mentioned it to someone on my way to the restroom. As for the food, I focused on the mussels and seafood chowder. . I ordered two different types of mussels on my first visit ( shallot and Morrocan) and I have to say, they were the freshest I have ever had and quite inexpensive. I had the Natural on this visit (Aug12) and they were also very good, fresh, but I prefer one of the other options of seasoning. I can't say enough about the warm, fresh, bread that just sent me to new highs, since bread has become a rare treat for me. I will definitely think about coming back here for a third time , there are many other items on the menu, and the daily specials on the chalkboard are a good addition. I just wish they would be better at promptness of at least offering you a beverage sooner than later. This place would easily get 4-5 stars if they would at least acknowledge your existence within the first 5-8 minutes. At least say "I'll be with you shortly". One other server did show up, after I received my meal and seemed to work in the same area I was seated in and she was fantastic! I guess it's hit and miss.

Stefanie L.

Yelp
Amazing mussels! I've tried the white wine, leek, and pepper/pesto ones, and all were very good albeit quite different. The bread they serve tastes very fresh and smells amazing. The garlic baguette is also nice. The mussels are very good value for money; can't quite say the same for the starters and other main courses... The scallops portion was pretty small and didn't taste that exciting; a friend had the prawn cocktail and it was a clear case of looks over substance. The decor of the restaurant is very nice and clean though; and the service was very nice if a bit detached and busy-seeming. In short, I'd recommend it for the mussels!

Ronnie O.

Yelp
I decided to book this on a Friday afternoon for an impromptu dinner after work and I'm very pleased I did! Good old fashioned service with a smile is always a bonus, and the staff were friendly and attentive.I had the fish cakes to start (rally tasty) with the chefs platter to follow (8 mussells and 3 queen scallops in choice of sauce) to follow;my husband had the chowder (I had to try it,lovely creamy texture with a generous portion of bread) and the queen scallops. We polished that off with a bottle of wine, enjoying the relaxed atmosphere and planning our next excuse to return for another lovely meal! The bill was £44 including the bottle of white, but they also have a pre theatre menu which would suit a pre payday meal out! They also do a lunch menu, and I'll probably be trying that soon too.

Karen N.

Yelp
Can't beat a quick fixed lunch deal at Mussel Inn. Half a kilo of mussels, lots of fresh bread and butter, chips and a drink for £7.95. Definitely recommend the Moroccan sauce.

Kate M.

Yelp
I loved the mussel in, the portions are huge ( I only had a half kilo and was stuffed!) the sauce on my mussels was delish and we had garlic bread and chips to mop up,the juices.my only complaint is the wine measures are a bit wee. Staff were really friendly and efficient and the food was piping hot when it came to he table.

Yelp
We were in Glasgow for a wedding and the bride recommended this place. Was she spot on! I split a smoked salmon caesar, which was simple and perfectly outstanding at the same time. It was not your lox and bagels salmon but a dry smoke. Most lovely. Then we split a vat of the wine, leek, dijon cream mussels. I have been to PEI and thought those to be the best mussels around, but this little tender pieces of divineness were perfect. They have about 8 flavor combos to choose from. My friends hubby had the blue cheese and another friend had the Chillies, garlic, ginger, coriander and cumin. We also split the scallops wrapped in pancetta, served on sautéed new potatoes, red peppers, spinach and finished with a yellow pepper dressing. The scallops were brilliant but the veg surrounding them stole the show a bit. Dessert you ask, we split a chocolate creme brulee which seemed more like a pot de creme but delicious not matter what you call it. But the most fun dessert of the night was the vanilla ice cream served with a shot of fine whiskey and a shot of espresso. Yum Yum and more to the point a fine steal of an idea for entertaining at home. A easy, delicious, interactive dessert. All in all, don't miss the Mussel Inn when in Glasgow. Lunch, Dinner whenever you can get there, just get there.

Jill W.

Yelp
They were very accomodating to our large group where everyone came in at different times. We tried all sorts of starters and I enjoyed them all! My main dish of prawns with noodles was one of the best courses I had in Scotland. Highly recommend this place to any seafood lovers!

R B.

Yelp
Perfect meal from start to finish. Had the mussels in garlic butter, grilled sea bass on butter bean cassoulet and the sticky pudding. Too much food, but wow it was good.

Helene R.

Yelp
Dinner at this deceptively simple restaurant was really quite good. Six very fresh raw oysters were plump and tasty, though I was disappointed that the server couldn't tell me exactly where they were from . Next I enjoyed a half order of mussels, in a white wine, garlic, and shallot cream broth, accompanied by fantastic garlic bread. Service was pleasant and prompt. Mussels Inn is simple in its decor, but reasonable prices for delicious food make it a worthwhile value.

Qype User (hempkn…)

Yelp
if you're not a seafood fan, this probably not the place for you! for those that are, you are in for a treat - the food is both hearty and fresh, and the staff are friendly and unobtrusive. there's a lunchtime deal that will fill you up for £7.50, that's pretty hard to beat. thoroughly recommended - dig in!

Qype User (JamQue…)

Yelp
I've been here loads of times and have never been disappointed, until yesterday that is. It was really busy and we had to wait for a table, which was not problem and it was ony 5 mins or so. We ordered the lunchtime quickie, and whilst it was nice not up to normal standards. The mussels were really small and some were quite dry and overcooked. We each found several beards attached which indicates they had not been cleaned very well. The portion of chips had a few nice chips at the top of the bowl but once they had gone it was 2/3rds full of the little scraps that usually people leave. Maybe real chips are no longer given on the quickie menu. The waitress was really nice, but I have to say as a very interesting Turkish place has opened just next door, I'd say the Mussel Inn needs to up their game and try harder. Don't just rely on your reputation, you need to maintain it

Qype User (graham…)

Yelp
Love this place. Nice big bowl of mussells, and other seafood at a reasonable price.

Melissa M.

Yelp
We went for the pre-theatre menu, which is very good value for money. Nice airy surroundings with an open kitchen. To start, the smoked salmon spring rolls were nice, but the creamy seafood chowder was amazing! For the main course the fish and chips in beer batter was wonderful and the half Kilo pot of mussels Moroccan were lovely: very nice sauce which didn't mask the taste or freshness of the mussels. Lovely bread. Will definitely be going back for a la carte.

Graham B.

Yelp
This place does a great selection of mussells and also has some other sea food dishes on the menu, definitely worth a try if you like seafood. The Mussells are all good quality, rope grown mussells as well.

Qype User (Flicke…)

Yelp
The food was good there, although the service was not so good. I was treated very badly and intimidated by a lady purporting to be the manager, when I became ill due to food poisoning.

Qype User (callam…)

Yelp
Like this place a lot. They don't have the widest menu but there's definitely enough to choose from. Fantastic value for money lunch menu and some good deals on 5pm.co.uk. I quite like the open décor and watching the chefs as they cook (not sure they feel the same mind you). Good combination of flavours with the crocks of mussels although I'm a sucker for anything with blue cheese!
