French Chardonnay. 1500 W / Akkeshi oysters - shallot dressing. 1800.
Wagyu rump steak, fries and truffle butter 5500 - French Syrah 1500 French Pinot noir 1500.
Oysters were fresh and had great flavour. Seemed to have similar characteristics to Sydney rock oysters (my favourite), only bigger. I’m generally hesitant to order the larger sizes. I would eat these over and over again. I enjoyed oysters with a glass of French Chardonnay.
Wagyu rump steak - Extreme disappointment. Looked great on menu and plate. The truffle butter had just come out of the freezer ? Maybe outside but wasn’t fridge or allowed to come to room temperature. Was still hard by the time I’d finished the steak. This was the chewiest cut I’ve ever eaten. Flavour varied - very little seasoning but atleast it has seen some flame. This is justification why I rarely eat steaks out. It’s rarely done right or acceptable.
Sad as we came last year and food and atmosphere was great. This year a little different.
