A dull museum. The temporary exhibition on Boros Lajos was interesting but the permanent exhibition lacked energy and any creativity in the way it was presented. Small regional museums must do things differently to their big city cousins if they are to be relevant to their community and travellers passing through.

The museum includes remarkable works by some of the most notable artists in Romanian history. Unfortunately, though, it seems the staff is instructed to trail visitors on the second floor, likely for security reasons. It was intrusive to the point of minimal privacy and constant distraction, as they passed directly in front of you and tracked your movements and pace. That’s never happened to me in a museum before.

So worth the visit if you love art! My favorite part was discovering the works of Nicolae Grigorescu — absolutely stunning. What a blessing to see his paintings in person.

The Brașov Art Museum is located in a historic building that stands as a work of art in its own right. Inside, visitors can explore a wide range of exhibits, showcasing both masterpieces by renowned artists and innovative works by contemporary creators. Particularly engaging for the modern audience are the exhibits that incorporate technological elements, using them as a medium to convey powerful artistic statements.

Great little gallery, which at the time I visited had a ground floor exhibition showcasing the work of Boros Lajos. Upstairs is the permanent exhibition of Romanian art, with a great range of portrait, modernist, cubist, etc. Information is displayed in Romanian and English. Standard adult ticket was 12 lei. Worth the visit.

I really enjoyed the National Collection on the second floor. It's not very extensive but the pieces are so beautiful

Amazing place! The best part about this museum is its promotion of new artists. They have two rooms dedicated to art pieces from 2020-2024, which is refreshing to see. Additionally, the upper floor features many famous paintings. A true delight!
