Our recent visit to the Amber Museum in Gdańsk was a fantastic experience for the whole family. The museum is modern and stylish, with a wonderful ambience that makes it a pleasure to explore. Spread across three floors, each section is beautifully laid out and thoughtfully curated to highlight the history, science, and artistry of amber. The displays are truly captivating – from large, natural amber nuggets to fascinating specimens with ancient insects trapped inside. There is also a fascinating exhibition that shows how amber was formed over millions of years – a great educational touch that adds depth to the experience. Throughout the museum, you’ll find many items crafted from amber, as well as bespoke jewellery on display – all beautifully sculpted and captivating, showcasing an impressive level of craftsmanship. It’s a testament to both the natural beauty of amber and the incredible skill of the artisans who work with it. It’s also the perfect place to cool down and escape the summer heat, with comfortable, air-conditioned spaces and a calm atmosphere. Accessibility is clearly a priority, as the venue is equipped with a lift for those less mobile. The staff were friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, and the museum is easy to access in terms of location. Entry prices are very reasonable for the quality of the experience. We finished our visit in the museum shop, which offers a wide range of interesting and beautifully designed amber jewellery – a perfect way to round off the trip. Highly recommended for families, history lovers, or anyone looking to learn more about this incredible natural treasure.

This is one of the most unique museums in Gdańsk and all of Poland given the importance of the extraction, manufacture and trade of amber in the region. I would not miss it, and I would make sure to allocate at least an hour and a half to visit its interesting expositions on the history and present of amber. My favourite one is without a doubt the exhibition of inclusions containing insects and other animals. Great experience!

It is one of the Museum of Gdansk branches. This new museum, although housed in the old building, is ultra modern and nearly fully accessible, with comfortable lift to every floor. There are small histrical rooms with a few steps, but they house side exhibitions, so even if you miss them, you will still see the core part of the museum. It is must see for anyone visiting Gdansk, as it combines art, history of the Baltic shore, and natural history, presented in a captivating way. Allow at least 2-3 hours to visit. Be careful, the museum shop at the end of the route can get you into overdraft, but it is worth to buy some amber souvenir, which you can be absolutely sure is original. 😀 Entry tickets are reasonably priced, and there are free tickets for disabled visitors and their carers, so you don't have to wait for Monday, which is free entry day.

Gorgeous, modern museum. There's a plethora of amber on display here, from the largest chunk of amber ever found, to delicately handcrafted artworks. The history and science behind amber are well illustrated, and the large variety of amber displays is astounding. Over three floors, there's display after display of beautiful amber, definitely a place to check out, whether you're on your own, with a group, or even with a family.

The museum had some beautiful items on display. The history of Amber was explained in a nice way, although some of the walls were very poorly lit, making the text very hard to read at times. The whole museum could use some more lighting in my opinion, it’s not very accommodating for people with reduced vision. It was quite warm inside. Pricing was okay - 37 PLN for an adult and 26 PLN for a student. We stayed for around 50 minutes. The Amber shop had very beautiful items for sale but was quite pricey. From very unique items to rows upon rows of jewelry. Would recommend for people to stop by if they have time, but wouldn’t go for a second visit, as I think you’ve seen pretty much all of it the first time around.
