We stayed at My Arbor Dolomites for a vacation and had a very mixed experience.
On the positive side, the breakfast and dinner waitstaff were truly phenomenal. Every waiter and waitress we interacted with was friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to make meals enjoyable. Their service was by far the highlight of our stay. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated, and the spa areas are aesthetically calming and well-designed at first glance. The town at the bottom of the hill is gorgeous and charming.
Unfortunately, there were several significant issues that negatively impacted our experience. While the hotel states it is a smoke free property, smoking is allowed on outdoor terraces with ashtrays placed on tables and room balconies. As a result, smoke frequently made it unpleasant to spend time outside.
Room temperature control was extremely frustrating. Guests cannot fully control their own room temperature. We were told to open a window to cool the room, but even with the window open it remained hot, and we did not sleep well. We were also told the temperature could be adjusted by a few degrees or changed at the front desk, but we never noticed any difference. Additionally, heated floors and towel racks cannot be controlled, and staff could not tell us when they would turn on, stating they operate at random times.
The spa and wellness facilities did not meet expectations, especially given how prominently they are featured in photos. The “hot tubs” are more like warm pools: the main ones are 32°C and 36°C, with only two working jets in the main 36°C pool. We eventually found a small hot tub at 40°C, but it had visible mold. The gym equipment was also lacking—treadmills stuck while running, creating a tripping hazard, and several weight machines were broken.
Another confusing and disappointing aspect was that water is free at breakfast but charged at dinner, which felt inconsistent and unclear.
When we raised our concerns and asked to check out early, the hotel refused to reimburse the unused nights, stating that none of our concerns were valid. Instead, they offered us a voucher but we did not want to come back. It took 14 hours to hear back from management/owners, and when they did respond, they were unhelpful and rather rude. Had the response been more understanding and professional, we might have felt differently, but this was ultimately a deal breaker.
Given the numerous issues and the price point, the hotel felt very overpriced, and unfortunately, we would not return. I recommend updating the website to more clearly detail the smoking policy, temperatures of the pools, make sure maintenance is being performed, allow guest to control the temperatures in their rooms and better communication between team members to assure the correct fees/policies are being translated. Most importantly, allow guests to check out early if they are not satisfied with their stay. We would recommend visiting the town of Brixen/Bressanone, as the town itself was one of the highlights of our trip, but would recommend staying in the heart of the city.
