Had a wonderful time in Gelang Patah/ Pontian with great company led by artist Chankerk on Sept 29. It was an interesting day out to do travel sketching live pictures on scenic spots with personal coaching from artist Chankerk. Besides sketching/painting, we get to visit some local places of interest, and enjoy the local delights together with a group of jovial and like-minded members wanting to learn travel sketching art. I have benefited so much from this trip where I get to learn something new, giving me more confidence in sketching on the spot. What an exciting experience!

Art trips with Chankerk at My Art Space are a must-do! I joined a trip to Kelantan with Chankerk and 8 other people. We visited places I would have never found on my own: a traditional kite-making studio, a puppet master's workshop, a matchstick factory, and more. Over 3 days, we sketched at 6 locations—a wooden mosque, traditional fisherman boats, the local market, and a matchstick factory from 1933 (still in operation), to name a few. The trip was well-rounded, offering a perfect mix of sketching and exploration. We ate at local eateries for every meal, which was another great way to discover the local cuisine. Chankerk guided us through the live sketching process while giving us the autonomy to pursue our own creative explorations on paper. Overall, the trip was a fantastic experience. The group dynamic was fun, too.

I had the opportunity to join Chankerk on a sketching excursion to West Bali. I went without any expectations and it was an eye-opening experience. Not only did he teach me the basics of sketching but also life philosophy lessons. It was a challenge trying to accept that I’ve sketched the wrong lines on a blank piece of paper, but he taught me that it is ok to make mistakes in life. It was also refreshing to see the passion that other participants have for art and the simple beauty of nature. I highly recommend art excursions with Chankerk, you will learn to embrace life’s simple pleasures and living in the moment!

My Art Space studio, easily accessible by both bus and MRT and surrounded by calming greenery and glass walls, created a truly inspiring environment for learning. I joined a one-day sketching workshop that provided a foundation in basic watercolour washes and sketching, as well as a full-day Malaysia art excursion. This included fully guided sketching sessions at scenic locations such as charcoal factory, Kukup fishing village, and a fruit farm. Mr. Chankerk, our patient trainer, provided clear guidance, encouraging us to sketch what we saw and felt in the moment, revealing hidden beauty and making the learning process enjoyable. It was also great to meet new friends who share the same interests. The double rainbow and sunset was beautiful and this trip brought us precious memories.

I did the travel sketching workshop with Mr.Chankerk, who is not only an accomplished artist, but someone who helps make the philosophy behind art easy to access. He teaches with patience and planning to make the workshop a true learning experience. The small batch also makes sure there is individual attention. You will learn to 'think' and 'see' differently, and is especially great if you are a beginner.

It was a nice relaxing sunday getting creative. I attended a 5hr travel sketching session. It was a small cozy class size. Highly recommend the class if you are interested in basic sketching and watercoloring. A very good way to get started.

Attended a sketching workshop with Chankerk, followed by a 1 day sketching tour to Kukup. Thoroughly enjoyed this:) What I liked best was that besides teaching techniques, Chankerk shares with us the spirit and emotions behind art and sketching, something I haven't experienced with other sketching classes or YouTube videos. He also respectfully challenges the way we think, which impacts the way we see and do art, this was interesting and intriguing. The immersive experience of sketching on the spot was also really unique and I can't wait to sketch in my holiday next month:)

Here's it I have recently been to another art excursion by Chankerk, the traveller artist and founder of ' My Art Space' at Istana Park. This time is to Cameron Highlands and Ipoh. It was an interesting excursion as it was in the participants of our members in this small group. There's seven of us and we formed quite a good mix of nationalities as well as age - from late thirties to late seventies! All eager and excited to explore this outdoor sketching experience. We've had so much fun with each other company and sharings of our sketches as we have the common love for art. Thus, art sees no differences in different races from diverse backgrounds and age group. It's enriching and art it's like the nourishment to one's soul so as to better comprehend and appreciate life. Thanks to our artist, Chankerk, for his kind and patient coaching and sharing of his basic principles on this studying process of sketching. It's an experiential observation on the 'show and tell session' introduced by him to spur our interest in our perspectives view on creativity in each one of us. On top of this, we have had the privilege to meet up with renowned local artists as arranged by him. This certainly is an added value to the whole excursion as we gain more insight thru the live demo of the local artists, apart from their sharings of their masterpieces. Amidst travelling with intervals of sketching at interesting locations, is the stop over for sumptuous food before ending the day. All in all, highly recommended for anyone who loves to sketch on the go at anywhere and everywhere! You need not be an artist, so long as you can draw lines, come and experience it for yourself that art enriches lifestyle. :)

Yelp
My Art Space is a redefinition of art, space and life. Strategically located at Istana Park, right across the street from the Istana, it is easily accessible and affordable. My Art Space is an art studio dedicated to the expression of creativity using the studio's space and tools. The art studio is truly gorgeous with functional workspace that seems to invite a reflective mood. There is ample light streaming into the studio through the glass panels that wall it, giving the space good energy. Despite being located in the midst of an urban architectural maze, the studio looks out into lush green vegetation which gives it a sense of serenity and tranquillity. That seems to offer a fair balance of comfort and motivation. The highly perched, glass encased studio immediately takes your mind to a liberated environment and gives you a sense of close proximity to nature. You will soon find yourself soaking up the exotic surroundings and feeling the need to explore your creativity and to get in touch with your sense of artistic play. Colour is the fundamental force here and language used at the studio. And the voice of this language is the brush - the instrument of creativity of the artists here. And the song is the painting - the creativity odyssey of the artist that reflects the expression of the artist's spiritual absorption of the world around him/her. Managed by a group of professional artists, My Art Space is open to everyone. The studio warmly welcomes anyone interested in enriching their life through art. The studio makes available a wide range of activities from workshops, tours, and team building sessions to sessions aimed at restoring your creative spirits and just relaxing. My Art Space is more than just a space. It is a community of artists committed to honing their craft in a way that excludes no one. And that is unique. On a day when you need solitude, a place to quiet your mind and some time to rejuvenate your spirit, go down to My Art Space. This place is considerably more alluring and gratifying than gulping an energy drink. It will change your brain and jar you mind into being receptive of new perspectives. And that is life changing!
