My Dad's Bar

Great little corner bar. Nice feel, nothing fancy, some of the furniture looks like something out of the 1960s which is perfect. Staff is great, nice but no nonsense. Also I have to say I love the name because back in the 1970s when this place was called City Limits Bar it was the place my father hung out in the evenings, or my dad's place

Feels just like a dad basement bar from the 70s. I really dug the ambiance. The Bar keepers are attentive and the prices are good. They are rumored to have the best juke box selection in town. One night a month they have a pizza party with a DJ(first friday of the month) and one night a week they have a Taco party with 1$ tacos. I heard a rumor they may be moving to across the street. Check this place out. I enjoyed my visit immensely.

My dad's bar is the best dive bar in the area. You go there for liquor and beer. That's it. There's no fancy ambiance, or beautiful decor, it's just a bar with a great selection and pictures on the wall. Go there to begin or end the night, or to stay with a friend to pass the time. Put money in the juke box and finish your drink.

Low key unassuming place. But definitely a safe great place for a beer. I am now in love with the Two hearted ales. This is definitely your destination if you want to Escape from Grosse Pointe to somewhere more real without having to drive for long.

Terrible service. Went in with 3 friends, two other customers were in there. Bartender completely ignored us. I don't say this lightly, but I have been told by others, blacks do not receive the best service there. I was very disappointed because it's around the corner from my house. We sat and waited to be approached; after sitting at the bar for 10 minutes, we finally requested service and was told "...gimme a sec." The guy was just shooting the breeze with the other two customers. Definitely NOT my Dad's Place.

Chris (C.Y.), Troy and Jack take great care of us. They're real nice. All I ask is to give new people a space to write on the bathroom wall and move the fire pit over, because of the smell.

Cool little dive. Service was fine, but employees didn't wear masks. Otherwise we had a fun night here. Once we're out of the pandemic I would consider going back.

Fun, quirky bar that is a throwback to a simpler era. Located on the border of Detroit and Grosse Pointe Park, the vinyl-era kitsch goes well with the folksy service you receive when you're here. They're open for everyone but are sympathetic to the artists and creators. I recommend checking them out.
