I first want to say that you have a fantastic facility. It is very clean and the staff is very well trained. Our experience started off very well for my girlfriend’s 66th birthday. The lady that served us a drink at the bar, the host that answered all our questions, and Ashleigh our waitress. We had a private table for two including priority seating which was awesome. The salad was very good and so was our meal. However, I was very disappointed with the dessert. The ice cream was very melted. I was going to request another one but when I saw my girlfriends was melted I didn’t since I assume they came from the same place. They refunded the cost of the ice cream.

Highly recommend this adventure for couples or friends and families passengerwhere 5 yrs to 85 yrs old. Magnificent prime rib dinner included in this price. The Murder Mystery dinner theater was fun to figure out who did it......i selected wrong...lol. Service was fabulous 4 course meal.

We were on train car 011 table 1 Gale was our server. She was absolutely fabulous. The food was absolutely awesome. Can't speak highly enough about the pot roast. The flavor was spot on. Mashed potatoes, bread, carrots it was all absolutely great. The train ride was pretty awesome. Enjoyed being able to see the different distilleries along the way.

Entering the station there are nice little tables to sit at and a cash bar where you can get drinks while waiting to board. There's also a nice gift shop that sells a lot of nice gifts and souvenirs. It's also open an hour afterwards. *SIDE NOTE* get there early or you will not get a table. Many people had to stand and wait.* While entering the train, the dining tables were decked out in beautiful colors and set up with salads, ham, a biscuit, and berry plates. We sat down at our table, and thankfully, we were seated with a very nice young couple. The "Murder Mystery" started, and it was ok, but the story was a little jumbled. In a world where murder/mystery is something I personally love to solve, it wasn't the best story, but it was still a cool experience. SIDE NOTE: If you're not a fan of tight spaces or claustrophobic, this is something you may want to reconsider. The train ride is almost 2 hours, and the bathroom is tiny. Not to mention, if you do go, you're on a train, and it's not easy to maneuver. However, that's part of the experience and I went to the bathroom when the train stopped to head back to the station 😊. The train ride is very nice & there are points of interest, but you'll need to pay attention to the card they give you to know what is what as they do not announce anything about them. I will say I was very impressed with the servers and how they were able to walk up and down the isles to serve food/drinks while on a moving train. The salad was good, but you only got poppyseed dressing. I'm usually ok with it, but this was very sweet so I just used salt/pepper. The ham they specialize in is also very sweet. My husband pre-ordered our meals when he reserved our tickets, and we both ordered the prime rib, which was incredible! It was served with a big baked potato (which I can't eat but gave to my husband)and delicious zucchini and squash. It has a horseradish crust, was extremely tender, and plentiful! Also, if you don't finish they do give you carry out boxes. My only problem is that I can't have sugar & I eat very low carb. My husband was excited about surprising me with a sugar-free dessert (not low-carb, but it was a special occasion) by the time we got to the desserts, the waitress told us that the sugar free dessert was removed because people didn't like it and they replaced it with a gluten-free option. Gluten-free is great, BUT if you can't have sugar, this is pointless. She said that she'll find me something good. I ended up with a cup of fruit?!?!? *this is the only reason I gave them 4 stars on the food* If you're diabetic (I'm in type 2 remission) you know that fruit is still loaded with natural sugars that spike your blood sugar. I was treating myself with the meal as is, but that's NOT what we paid almost $400 for. To some, this may sound silly, but if you cut out sugar (which is not as easy as you think since everything has sugar in it these days) and you actually find a place to dine with a sugar free option is rare! The couple at our table looked at it, and the lady said, "My niece is a type 1, and she can't have fruit like that." If someone who I just met knows that, why wouldn't anyone in food service understand that? Why wouldn't they contact us prior to arriving to let us know? It's just very disappointing. My husband was so excited about finding it for me, and he was ready to dispute the charge for the dessert. Again, if you know how rare it is to find, you know. If you prepay you still get an itemized bill. Make sure you double check your bill. The couple received a bill of $.01 balance to pay lol ?? Gratuity is not included, so make sure you tip. The servers work hard and they were truly amazing.

My party of five had an excellent time. My guest from Texas and Las Vegas were amazed. The atmosphere, service, and food were absolutely excellent. We had a wonderful time. The Prime Rib is the best I have had. Cooked perfectly.

We had an AMAZING time onboard My Old KY Dinner Train. From the great food to the great service, it's hard to narrow it down to one favorite experience. This is our second time onboard and both times we've received a warm welcome by the staff. We highly recommend!

Google
The train was great for a 1st time experience. The desert (Choo choo) was by far a must-have if you like chocolate, and the staff made us feel like kings and queens. If anything make sure you have something for the hard seats.

Google
We had such a great time on the train. The food was delicious and our server, Yasmine, was a delight.

Yelp
The food was great, plenty of ice tea, Lindsay did a great job. The salad was delicious, the pot roast was delicious, the chocolate lava cake didn't have any lava inside and was dry. The train ride was great until I tried walking to bathroom, not for people with balance issues. The liquor was flowing and so was the loud mouth people that didn't seem to be bothered about disturbing others experience. When four people are sitting together at a table, please be respectful and not talk through the whole time. We was trying to look at the scenery, but a woman wanted to talk to us. If RJ Corman was still alive, this would not of happened, I am confident saying this. We know RJ Corman and how particular he was. People need to be respectful of others. Please turn cell phone down to not interfere with others experience.

Yelp
Food is absolutely amazing. Our server Ashleigh was very enjoyable and on point. It's a train so space is somewhat limited but that's to be expected. Overall a great experience.

Yelp
This was a nice ride with good food. We enjoyed the lunch and the views. It's something to do once when in Bardstown for sure!

Yelp
Wonderful experience. My husband and I took both our mothers on this excursion. Lovely train car. The meal was much better than I expected! Roast beef & tilapia were our choices. Both were hot and very well prepared. Dessert was just as good. Derby pie and peach cobbler. Whit and Kayla looked after us and did a tremendous job of waiting on our table. Lovely experience with historic landmarks on a gentle train ride.

Yelp
We visited here last weekend on Saturday at 7 o'clock. We had a dinner. We had a murder mystery show and a train ride all in one. I got a prime rib, baked potato salad. It was good. It was not the best but it was good. waitress was really nice. The murder mystery show was interesting, we liked it. I didn't know what to expect. The ambience was cool. I like looking out the window seeing the sites. It was Strange staring at a person. I didn't know across from me at the table because I see you with another couple so that was interesting but they were nice. Also, I would recommend it. It's a little expensive in my opinion. It was $315 Before tip

Yelp
What a wonderful experience and everyone at our table loved our meals... ALL was so very good! The service was friendly & great! (Lexi was ours). Atmosphere was clean & adorable... Highly recommend!

Yelp
This was fun! A group of us decided to try it and we're glad we did. It was a two hour trip, and only lacked a host to give background on what we were seeing. Something I thought was a "professional farm" turned out to be bourbon storage. Figured that out from a card I picked up afterwards. We were told to arrive at 5 for a 6 o'clock departure. Why? As near as I can figure they wanted you in the bar (at extra cost) and gift shop. Right at 6 we boarded. The servers worked hard, not only checking on your menu choice but serving drinks. I thought I would die of thirst before I got my glass of wine. While food was good, we laughed we paid $100 for a $30 dinner. And while salad and pimento cheese were served to everyone, one at our table didn't get hers and when we pointed it out the server said she would check on it and never got back to us. Turns out two was plenty for the 3 of us. Would I do this again? Probably not. But I'm glad I ticked it off the bucket list. And Bardstown is charming. More on that in another review. Stay tuned for more...

Yelp
We went on a "lunch" train version of the dinner train. The sun was shining, the food was amazing and the service was beyond reproach. Meal service was chosen prior to boarding, but they do offer a cash bar for those who chose to partake. They even had a "tourist card" that explained the landmarks visible out the windows at the designated mile markers. I am was so impressed with this trip that I am planning to return for their "Murder Mystery Train by Murder and Merriment" trip. If the lunch was any indication of their professionalism, then the murder mystery would be a hoot!

Mark F.

Yelp
We had the lunch trip on the train. The food was excellent and plentiful, more than enough for a full dinner. Service was also very good. The cars were beautiful but the scenery was just ok. I would recommend this trip.

Yelp
A very enjoyable experience. A three hour train ride with an excellent three course dinner accompanied by a selection of four bourbons. What more could you ask for. The service was impressive and entertaining given that trays of food and drinks were moving around a moving railcar.
google avatar

Phillip R.

Yelp
Food was excellent we had a full three course meal. The portions were good size. The server was very polite and friendly. We sat across from a sweet older couple and shared laughs and life stories. My wife and I truly enjoyed the conversation and experience. Definitely something to experience once in your lifetime.

Yelp
Really enjoyed the dinner train. The food was excellent. Our server, Jill, was great!

Dawn M.

Yelp
The food and service was absolutely amazing. Tons of staff . The only negative is the seating. The chairs are not comfortable and it is very cramped. An extra two inches at rash table would make a huge difference. More food than any of us could eat all perfectly prepared.

Yelp
Hold on folks! My daughter booked a trip for Father's Day. I had no idea this train existed. All I can say is wow. What at treat. The train was cool and the ride was very nice. They had a host giving background and info on bourbon and the area. Overall service was fantastic. Now, you might find this hard to believe but the food was amazing! I had the prime rib and it was perfect. If you are into large portions then this is the place. We will definitely do this again soon. Call for reservations early! Enjoy!

Yelp
Great food. Great service great drinks. Great experience. We'll be back soon. Pleasant train ride.

Yelp
Terrible experience all around. They do not value safety and security of guests. Staff and mgt obviously are not trained in emergency situations.

Yelp
We so enjoyed our trip while visiting Kentucky for the UF vs UK game (Go Gators!). Not only was it a neat way to see some sights and the beautiful KY countryside, but the food was delicious and the servers worked hard to ensure our experience was good. The best part was that, as a WFPB eater, I was not wanting the Vegetarian option of cheese tortellini, and let them know in advance that I would prefer the veggie sides and potatoes from the other meat options available. I did not get that. Instead, I was delightfully surprised that they went above and beyond to make me a special dish of Spaghetti Squash in a sauce of capers, sun dried tomatoes, etc, that was not only delish, but even better than MY spaghetti squash (which I love and do very well)! Thanks, MOKDT! We recommend you 100% for going above and beyond! Must be that Deep South hospitality!

Yelp
The Kentucky bourbon train is a very unique dining experience that lasts 2 1/2 hours as you travel through the Kentucky heartland while enjoying a nice dinner. The food was good - a nice salad, fresh bread, hearty entrees, and delicious dessert. The experience would have been better if the service was more attentive. Our server spent the majority of time with another table and unfortunately our table suffered the consequences of not getting drinks timely or at all. I did see other tables being serviced well and think it was just our server so I would probably do this again if the chance arose.

Yelp
Had a terrible experience with My Old Kentucky Dinner Train. I purchased 2 gift cards in November 2019 for $150.00 each to give to my adult children as Christmas gifts. Then in the spring of 2020 COVID struck and they closed. According to their website they closed permanently. It was sad that I lost $300, but not much I could do. Their website was closed, no-one answered the phones, no way to communicate with them at all. Then in September 2024 I found out they had re-opened. I contacted them immediately and they have a record of my gift certificates....but then went on to tell me that they would be expiring in the first week of November, only 6 weeks away! My kids have busy families and schedules and it's not possible for them to plan a trip in such short notice. I complained to My Old Kentucky Dinner Train and asked them to extend the deadline so my kids would have ample time to use the gift cards.....as of this writing, I've received no response. This is a terrible way to treat a customer. They have CHOSEN to let the gift card expire. They could extend the time if they wanted, but they apparently aren't interested. Pitiful customer service.

Yelp
Wow what a treat. If you love nursing home food, this is the place. Or if you love eating bland school food with your child, don't wait, run to My Old Kentucky Dinner Train. After the food was served I was going to give it a 1 star. At dessert I thought I'd go 2 stars. Then I realized the train ride experience is the main take-away and due to the courtesy of the staff, I'd give it a 3. The train itself is very nice and well kept, after all it is 75-ish years old itself. For the food. I got the lamb chops which were well overcooked with chimichurri covering it so much that when I first looked at it I thought they had served me some kind of spinach ball with roasted potato wedges & green beans. But no, there was a lamb chop in there. Lamb was overcooked but edible. Potatoes were OK. Green beans were OK but not what I would call great. My wife got the Chicken Cordon Bleu which presented nicely but she let me try it and it was lacking any seasoning. Her broccoli had virtually no flavor. I saw the Prime Rib ordered by others and it was a very large portion. I do not know how it tasted. They serve unsweet tea and coffee included with dinner price. Sugar and cream is also provided. For dessert I got the Tres Leches Cake and my wife got the Lemon Berry Mascarpone Cake and both were very good. Finally a win. I didn't appreciate the "No Weapons on the premises" sign. I can't say enough how nice the staff was. Just great people to be around. Just don't expect much with the food and you won't be so disappointed.

Yelp
Being a special needs person, they know how to take care of you. Food was absolutely amazing. Every dinner was done to perfection. Like I say this is Not there first rodeo. From the appetizer to the desert, it was just 5stars. A must try.

Cindy D.

Yelp
We love riding trains and this ride didn't disappoint. While waiting for the train you can enjoy the cash bar and visit the gift shop. You have views of the Kentucky countryside as you dine. The food was excellent - my husband had the prime rib and I had the pork chop. Unfortunately we forgot to take any pictures and surprisingly that isn't something they do so if you want one make sure you don't forget. Mixed drinks and wine are available with you meal for a fee.

Yelp
Really neat experience, worth doing at least once. Kinda has a fancy feel to it, so dress up a little. The atmosphere is nice to enjoy a meal and look at scenery as the train goes by. The food was ok, with large portions. I ordered the charcuterie board as well, which turned out to be too much food. I ended up with leftovers from both the charcuterie board and my meal. It's a bit pricey all together but neat experience. Try it!

Yelp
What is something one can do for their birthday/fun day out that is different? Ah, that's right. The Kentucky Dinner Train. This was such a treat. I really hasn't heard of this experience until finding it in my "Kentucky Bucket List" book. And when you're a Derby baby and just want to get the heck out of that craziness, heading down to Bardstown for this was just perfect. It is a splurge, but totally worth it. You can opt to come for lunch to save a few bucks. We got there early, and they have a bar you can relax at while you wait for the train to board. The train ride itself kind of goes in a straight line, but it's still fun. While you're not going to see anything completely out of the ordinary, it's still nice to look out into the countryside of Bardstown, and even into many people's backyards. You'll also go through some distilleries, too. The food was phenomenal. I was expecting just one plate....and I was dead wrong! We were given salads, beer cheese/vegetable plate (I think this was extra,) our main course and dessert. We got the shrimp and grits for lunch, and it was wonderful. And that apple dumpling for the end..perfection. I really can't think of anything bad to say. If you're only dining with one other person, chances are they will probably seat you with another couple. That didn't bother us, but just a heads up. A very 'Kentucky' experience that is worth checking out!
google avatar

Neysa C.

Yelp
When you are paying this price for a meal, you expect it to be top-notch. My grandmother and I got the roasted "fall" vegetables, and they were barely edible. We picked through them and ate the the couple of sweet potato cubes, a couple of the small regular potatoes, and a few carrots. Our snow peas and portabella mushrooms were tough and rubbery. The mushrooms were soaked in so much vinegar, they made you pucker. They were just BAD! We left the train hungry and had to go some place else to eat. My niece got the pot roast, and she loved hers. It was tender, and she was very pleased. The train ride itself was fun, but you don't see much than normal countryside--just like you see from the roads. The train itself was the highlight of the trip for me. The staff was helpful and friendly. I just wish when we complained about our vegetables, they would have offered us a different meal choice. The waitress even accommodated me and tasted one of my mushrooms. She said she would tell the chef to lay off the vinegar for next time, but it didn't help us out at the time. The ride and ambience were lovely. It was fun to be on a train. I would just keep to the choo-choo and not the chew-chew on this one!

Yelp
Went today for lunch service. It was nice. I wished they had more options for the salad course. Only one salad and it was sweet. Couldn't eat it. Personal preference, I dont care for fruit in my salad. That was the only option though. The main meal and dessert were amazing though. Two of us had the hot brown and the other pot roast. Apple dumpling, cheesecake, and chocolate cake. The problem we had was with service. She was nice when she was present. She forgot our dessert and we had to ask for it. She did apologize. Watching the server on the other side be so attentive, I was a bit jealous. We weren't offered coffee or refills. The view was nice at times. I think we would try it again and try the dinner service. Hopefully we get the other server.

Yelp
I saw this on YouTube years ago and always wanted to go. It definitely lived up to the expectations. Everyone was friendly, and service was great. I definitely recommend. I thought my food was delicious and so were the drinks. We will be back for sure.

William G.

Yelp
This is a treat for yourself. You're going to pay a little more for the food and drinks you have, but you won't find many other places to have the experience you will here. Riding along in a vintage dining car being served a three course meal. Adult beverages also available at extra cost. It's easy to feel uneasy at the prices, but please remember: this is a unique experience. Burn a few extra dollars and treat yourself. We took the lunch excursion as a family of three. Staff in the main building were a little short and snippy, but it was a quick check in and we didn't have to deal with them long. Bartenders and the kind lady in the gift shop were much more welcoming. It's hard to focus on any of them, though, as the staff aboard the train were very polite and attentive. Our waitress was always quick to ask if we needed a refill, another cocktail, or to have a dish removed yet didn't hover or over-attend. Food was very good. Cocktails were delicious. The trip was two hours long and very enjoyable since we were on the lunch journey and could see all the sights clearly. The spaces are a little tight as they do try to maximize the amount of people they can get into each car. Thankfully the doors would open periodically, as the staff moved from car to car, giving a little breeze because it doesn't take long to get a little stuffy. Would we do this again? Yes. Is it worth the price? Considering this was meant to be a treat for the family and it's an experience you can't get in very many places... I'm going say yes. Spiffy yourself up, put on some nice threads, and give it a chance at least once.

Yelp
It was wonderful. The dinner was really good. We did the Murder Mystery and everyone kept the train engaged!!

Jennifer L.

Yelp
We had a wonderful experience the meal and wait staff were great. However did not really enjoy commentator using work their butts off continuousl. I like tipping for gross service but you should not be expected to tip for the train ride only the service and meal.

Yelp
I'm truly not sure how this experience is rated so highly. We paid $280 for 2 people to do the bourbon dinner train. Pros- My husband and I enjoyed the people around us. My husband's food was better than mine. You certainly get more train time than scheduled. The prices for the depot bar drinks were great. Cons- Shrimp and grits- honestly, this was the worst I've had in this area. The grits were crumbly and the shrimp was covered in a barbeque-like sauce. The pours were so small when you consider the price of the tickets. Maybe half an ounce and only 4 plus a whiskey sour with probably half an ounce in there. So, maybe a total of 2.5 ounces for the trip. After ordering the cobbler, was told they didn't have it and got the apple dumpling and charged $3 for ice cream. After all that and $280, we are also expected to tip the server. She mentioned it. To rop off the evening, my leather purse had a grapefruit size wet spot on it when we left (it was on the floor because there's nowhereelse to put it. If anyone reads this- we were in training RJC 777, table 12, seats 1 and 2. Right by the bathroom.

Yelp
If you can be patient with dealing with rude front line personal in the office then you will enjoy the ride As the people in the train are much better. I can't believe they are still in business

Yelp
Outstanding. I can't say a whole lot more other than food, service, atmosphere- all enjoyable

Yelp
Brace yourself for a phenomenal meal! I had the prime rib and it was the best I've ever had! Everything was gourmet !! I was not expecting such fine dining. It's a must (but you have to book early)! Love it

Yelp
We couldn't have picked a better day to take the train! The weather was just right, the sun was shining, and apparently we managed to pick a day that had a historian to narrate. There is a nice waiting area, bar, and gift shop if you arrive early. Their selection is good, and the prices are very reasonable. The bourbon price range is $7-$10. $10 gets you Blanton's or Booker's, which is almost unheard of anywhere else. You're able to take your drinks from the waiting area directly on the train. We booked months ahead for our train ride, so the salads were already on the table when we were seated. Each table seats 4, so I would recommend keeping your group small. If you have a bigger group, you would have to talk to others behind you or across the aisle, which isn't desirable. The dinner was tasty. I had the pot roast option. It came with two slices of roast and a scoop of mashed potatoes with plenty of gravy. I had to take half of it home! The dessert was good, nothing too exciting. I found it amazing that the kitchen staff was able to make such good meals while their train cart was moving. It seemed to be rocking a lot more than ours. Once you're finished with your meal you can head to the back of the train for photos or to take in the scenery. We had a great time and I hope to come back another time when the leaves turn or it's winter.

Yelp
For the cost of 478$, 4 people can dine, and be somewhat entertained with a weirdly done murder mystery. I am hoping this review is balanced. While I enjoyed the food outside of the appetizers presentation, the murder mystery we saw was very, uhm,  pieced together and felt pushed.  The main character Skip came running down the aisle, contriving the story of a business event/competition that involved two new owners and two fired employees that Skippy had brought back in as employees for marketing, where one or all of them try to poison one of the new owners. It was silly. But I dont think it was trying to be. I wouldn't do the murder mystery again personally.  Alcoholic drinks are additional and the wine menu is not specific as if per bottle or glass, thus causing more questions for the server that already seemed a bit overwhelmed but she was friendly until the end when clean up time occurred then she seemed rushed. Wine list seems limited, nothing local on it, which is odd since the area and surrounding have a number of vineyards. Prices vary from 8 a glass to 225 a bottle. We bought a bottle of Little Black Dress Merlot, 28 even.   Our server really struggled with opening the wine, and advised she was used to serving hard liquor and was thus unable to answer questions we had on the wine menu, which was fine til the end when the tour guide advised about their wine dinners and that they always had an expert on board.  Mixed drinks are fantastic.  We ordered beer cheese and pretzel which I swear were JayC carrots and celery sticks like the ones you find in snack packs- this was in addition to the cornbread, possible ham or prosciutto with pepper jelly.  The meat was room temp, so I'm truly hoping it was cured and the beer cheese was warm at some point but cold by the time we loaded on and we were some of the first to load in.   Train car itself was amazing well cared for and delightfully decorated but we were freezing.   The serving staff was friendly but some of the staff were definitely more comfortable serving, than others, which is a little weird since this is serving, on a train, and balance is key as well as knowledge of the menu that occurs prior to loading during the online ordering process.     The salads were oddly done, mainly due to the romaine recall and listeria outbreak, however the replacement salad was not anything I could eat as it was primarily spinach with two mandarin orange slices. The oranges, cranberries and tomatoes seemed oddly random as well. My friends had one each, and my spouse had five. A suggestion I would make is during times like this, perhaps consider an iceberg as back in addition to a spring salad mix and a bit of containment on the amount and balance of accoutrements.  I don't know what salad dressing was brought out so I didn't eat it due to allergens that I have. Which is also funny because after the salads been brought out they mentioned if you had any allergens to let your server know. I kind of feel like that should have been done at the beginning but I don't think my allergens are really important enough for me to brought it to her attention anyway. I just avoid eating the food that I didn't know what was in it. The dinners were amazing! My table of 4 had the pork with its compote, roast chicken and cranberries, and prime rib. The au jus was not flavored at all, however but brought something additional to the prime rib, I just cant figure out what it was. I've never had a better prime rib, or pork that was this succulent and luscious.  The baked potato was fantastic, mine came with the mashed potatoes and there was a truly amazing selection of veggies, but each our plates seemed to either have one carrot, or too many, one Brussels sprout or none, and one plate had a stalk of asparagus but another had four. Again, lacks balance.  As friends, we traded around to get a balance amongst the plates but that wouldn't be the same for everyone. I cannot rave enough on the coffee and desserts. It was John Conti coffee which I generally dont like but this tasted like Douwe Egbert which I know the taste of distinctly. The server advised it was a special blend John Conti made only for the train.  The desserts we had were the chocolate trifle with Chantilly cream and both myself and the chef at our table couldn't find any Chantilly cream but we did find the whipped cream. My spouse had the cheesecake, and it was very large but none of the normal hints of lemon or vanilla one expects. Still delish.  Over all, due to company and the main course, it was delightful, we truly could have skipped the mystery murder, the only mystery there was the advertisement of entertainment. What I do this again? Absolutely but I would not do a murder mystery I think I would just choose a dinner train or one of the wine trains instead. Enjoy the pictures!

Yelp
We've heard great things about this place from numerous people, and for my birthday my fiancé treated me to the bourbon tasting theme on the dinner train. We arrived about 30-40 minutes prior to the train departing as told in the directions, that way you can check in, get your gift bag, and grab yourself a cocktail from the bar while walking around the gift shop. The gift bag included some hats, keychains, portable shot glass keychains, and some other little trinkets. You also get a brochure that details what you will be passing by while on the dinner train. We had the pleasure of sitting next to the regional manager of heaven hill distillery, and while on the train, while each tasting came out, he would give us a brief history on the bourbon and some background. The meal was a 3 course meal. You pick what you'll be wanting when you make your reservation online. I started with a salad that came with pimento cheese and crackers. The dressing was phenomenal, and it's for purchase in the gift store which is still open when your train returns. My main course was a ribeye that covered 3/4 of my plate. It was cooked to perfection. Came with a side of veggies and a baked potato with the fixings. The dessert I got a was apple dumpling that was very sweet. Basically a whole apple covered in a pastry and drizzled with caramel sauce. You receive a bourbon tasting in between courses as well. The experience was great and I'd love to do another theme on this train. We will be back! Sorry for not including the main course, I was hungry lol.

Yelp
The dinner train was excellent we took the Bourbon ride and Heaven Hill was the sponsor. The ride was beautiful learned a lot about bourbon got to sample 3 different bourbons and had a whiskey sour. The food and service was excellent and the lemon cake was too die for just amazing. Great experience all the way around we will be going back.

Yelp
The experience was fun. The thing I was disappointed in was the scenery on the ride. There were trees, even a clothes line with clothes! I expected maybe even something staged to look at. Something to draw your attention.

Yelp
Depot inside was very nice and had lots of tables for waiting on boarding. They also have a bar and a very small gift shop. The train car was nicely refitted for a dining car. We had a table toward the kitchen end. Our diner was all preordered when tickets were purchased. On our table waiting for us was a cheese and meat plate and bruschetta. I remembered ordering the meat and cheese but not the bruschetta. The bruschetta was not very good. The meat and cheese platter was great. There were a couple other things on our plate I couldn't figure out. Some jam type stuff with peppers in it, I hate peppers, a piece of corn bread and some dried ham. Ham was the only thing any of us ate. Salad portion was ok. The golden dressing was too thick but tasted ok. Main course was chicken, rice and a veg. The chicken was bone in skin on and covered in a cranberry sauce and it was not great. The veg was zucchini and peppers, back to I hate peppers. The rice was ok but over cooked. Dessert..I got apple dumpling. It was ok. Cousin got pecan pie and it was ok. Husband got chocolate mouse which he loved. At the end of the meal they hand out receipts of what you paid for your train ride / meal and if you ordered any drinks. Over 300$ for everything. This was after announcement to not to forget to tip your server. We calculate what we would have paid for our meal and tipped accordingly. Not about to tip on the entire ticket price. Others may not have felt the same and that's ok. Would we do it again? Probably not but it was fun to do once.

Yelp
The trip was perfect. It was our 10th anniversary and we had a great time. The food, people and atmosphere was perfect. The servers we're great with no issues. On a trip where we spent $500 for a 3 hour dinner train, the wife wanted to grab the rose on the table to remember our 10th anniversary to add to the dozen roses we bought to celebrate the occasion. We slide the rose from the table into the dozen vase. 10 minutes later we we're called out on the intercom on the train asking people to put the single roses back into their vases on the table. The trip was perfect prior to this. The wife wanted to signify our 10th anniversary with that rose was reasonable. Calling out a couple for this on the train intercom after spending $500 on the trip. Are you going? I hate it, it was perfect prior to the public call out on the $.50 cent rose but it's their business model. We'll not be back. I'm just not cool with that nickle and dime crap on a $500 trip. You guys call the ball.

Yelp
When my parents visited from out of town, they wanted to experience My Old Kentucky Dinner Train because they heard about it on a travel show they saw on TV. It also happened to be my dad's birthday. The night we wanted to go also happened to be the Murder Mystery night they have once a month, so tickets we more expensive than your usual excursion. I will say that the entire experience from ticket purchase on their website, to the actual excursion were seamless and painless. You select the meals you want at time of ticket purchase, and they contact you if the menu changes before your scheduled event. Their website provides all the information you need about attire, when to arrive, what to expect, etc. which I found so helpful! The depot has lots of parking, and you can grab a drink and mingle, or look at the gift shop before you board. The dining cars are in stunning shape, and look practically brand new inside. I expected a tiny dining environment, but found it about the same as a table for four at a restaurant. The prime rib meal was especially excellent, and they give you so much food you have to take some home (which is allowed and encouraged!). The scenery was nice as we went in the spring, though nothing extraordinary, but they give you a card with information about what you'll see along the way, so we could keep an eye out. The Murder Mystery was not as elaborate or involved as I would have expected for the extra cost, which is why I docked a star. Trying the dinner train is something I am glad I got to do once, but won't necessarily spend the money to do it every time we have out of town guests.

Yelp
My daughter and I did the dinner train as a day out. We absolutely loved the atmosphere and all of the staff. Amazing food and a fun day out. We look forward to going in the spring to see everything in bloom as well as trying the murder mystery.

Yelp
Awesome train ride for my mom's birthday! The food was spectacular. The service was excellent. The train ride was very smooth. The overall experience was awesome. I would definitely recommend it. The only disappointing thing was the view from the train. It was a rainy, overcast cold day. Most of what we saw on the ride was houses. I would definitely recommend it for people not from the area. There is a lot of history in Bardstown!! I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
This was a great "one time" adventure. My dad worked 42 years on the railroad and we thought this would make a cool gift for him, and we were right; he loved it. The train and depot were beautiful and the food and service were good. We were amazed at how smooth the ride was, the water in the glasses hardly moved. There were a couple spots of interest to be viewed from the train, but trees were the majority of the scenery. For 9 people it cost $629, which was way too much for a two hour ride (moving between 10 and 30 miles per hour) and pretty average food. The Derby Pie was disappointing and nothing like the picture on their website (it was dry and tasteless). There are several add ons when you purchase your tickets, including a rose for your table...I didn't buy it, but every table had one (so I wouldn't advise spending money on that). Tips are NOT included in your ticket price and the receipt they bring you says to reference the total ticket price when tipping (which is crazy because I know that food didn't cost $629).

Yelp
Yes it is a bit expensive. They do provide a military discount for those who have served. If you are ordering tickets online you will have to call to get the discount code. Almost $8 for a bottle a beer is bit ridiculous. All the food was good except I did not like the beef barley soup. It was a nice two hour ride.

Yelp
We have attended different Dinner Train excursions. The most recent was the Polar Express 2 days before Christmas. This isnt our first time and it certainly won't be our last! Santa and Mrs. Claus are always so cheerful and friendly. The station and train staff are wonderful! The food is great for adults and children. We had the KY Hot Brown, the Winter Roasted Vegetable Plate and the Classic Pasta and Cheese Plate. Our 15 month old did not have to have a ticket. We were provided with an great activity packet that included crayons. Santa punched our golden train tickets at the end and presented the kids with beautiful bells upon departure as well as free photo opportunities. We sang carols, listened to a wonderful Christmas story read by Santa and were served a yummy cookie and hot chocolate! GREAT JOB!!!
