We stayed at My Story Hotel Rossio in Lisbon at the end of July, and unfortunately this was the worst hotel experience we’ve had in Portugal — and honestly, even in general.||We booked the hotel two weeks in advance, only to notice that the price had dropped to half of what we paid just one day before our arrival. When we checked in, we mentioned this to the receptionist, but she was not helpful at all. We then asked to speak with a manager, and after a few minutes someone named Inish came out. She was extremely unkind and unpleasant from the moment she greeted us. Her attitude made us feel like we were inconveniencing her just by asking a simple question.||We fully understand that the hotel may not be able to adjust the price, but there is a professional and respectful way to communicate that — and her behavior was the opposite. After wasting our time, she finally admitted that she wasn’t even the manager and that the actual manager was not there. Had she been honest from the beginning, we wouldn’t have bothered continuing the conversation. This was sadly the only rude interaction we had with anyone during our entire trip to Portugal.||On top of the poor service, the hotel itself was filthy. The toilet seat in our room had a brown stain that looked like feces, which was absolutely unacceptable. The breakfast area was also consistently dirty, with tables left uncleaned, and the breakfast itself was below mediocre. Much of the food was dry and looked like it had been reused from previous mornings.||Overall, this hotel was a huge disappointment. Don’t waste your time or money here — there are plenty of cleaner hotels in Lisbon with far friendlier and more professional staff.
