Myeongdong Gyoza Kalguksu - Korean Restaurant (Bloor)

Google
Overall the food was tasty and good value - I especially enjoyed the bulgogi bibimbap, (free) kimchi side, and watercress pancake. The Kalguksu was good but not standout in my opinion, although my friend enjoyed it more. I wasn't able to try the mandu/dumplings as they all contained pork - it would be nice to see more options on the menu! We went for an early Monday dinner and it was very busy (all tables full), and a bit loud as a result. Menu was accessible via a QR code leading to their website, and service was pretty quick, so we didn't need to wait very long for our food.

The dumplings are handmade, we saw her making them at a table at the front. And they're absolutely fantastic, probably the best in the city as far were concerned. The service is very friendly and the food is just excellent. A wonderful place that we have gone to a few times and the quality is so consistent.

My daughter takes math lessons right beside here so we decided to stop in after class one night and we were not disappointed! Food was delicious and the service was great. A bit pricey but so is everything these days. Would recommend!

Great food here with good service! The Half & Half Gyozas were delicious, and I typically order the Spicy Pork Set and it’s very filling! Everything comes out very fresh and hot, and the Cold Buckwheat Noodles were very refreshing in the Summer. The Staff are very friendly, and very quick with their service. Overall I recommend this place!

Went to this super nice restaurant with my Korean friend because of her recommendation. The food was amazing. The dumplings were beautifully made and rich in flavors. We tried a couple noodle/soup dishes and they were so hearty in winter. The portions were really good for the price. The restaurant owner and waiter were extremely welcoming and friendly. It’s a great place for dine in and takeout! Highly recommend!!!

Absolutely delicious! I visited Myeongdong Gyoza Kalguksu recently and was so impressed with both the food and the service. The kalguksu broth is incredibly flavourful—rich, comforting, and perfect for cold weather. The dumplings are fresh, juicy, and packed with flavour, definitely some of the best I’ve had. The staff are friendly and attentive, and the restaurant is clean and welcoming. Portions are generous and the prices are very reasonable for the quality. If you enjoy authentic Korean comfort food, this spot is definitely worth a visit. I’ll be coming back for sure!

The food was amazing! The steamed dumplings were super juicy and flavorful — definitely freshly made. The cold pork dish with onions and sesame was light but really tasty, perfect balance of texture and seasoning. Everything was nicely presented and the atmosphere felt cozy and authentic. Would totally come back again!

Absolutely loved our meal here! The kimchi and pork gyozas were beautifully steamed—soft, delicate, and bursting with juicy flavor. The kalguksu noodles were warm, comforting, and the spicy cold noodles were refreshing, tangy, and perfect for a sunny summer day. Every bite reminded me of the amazing meals I had in Seoul—authentic, satisfying, and full of heart. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the sweetest surprise was free ice cream at the end. Such a wholesome and delicious experience—can’t wait to come back!

Yelp
I've eaten here too many times to count. It's honestly my favourite restaurant in the Annex. I also order from here on Ubereats when I can't get there! Service is always great there. They are very attentive and so generous with topping up kimchi - which is also my favourite kimchi in Toronto. So flavourful and spicy. I always buy a large container of it to go after my meal! These are my go to dishes when I eat there: Appetizers/Shareables: Meat Mandu (dumplings) and seafood pancake. I love the large dumplings, so much meat inside and the seafood pancake is so nice and crispy with a good amount of seafood. Mains: I've tried so many different dishes. We love the bossam set which gives you the pork belly and a small bowl of noodles, bulgogi set, I've had the dogani with the beef and tendons and this broth is so flavourful. I wish they gave other banchan side dishes but you only get it if you order a meat and rice dish. Overall I highly recommend this spot! It gets busy but I don't think we've ever had to wait too long.

Yelp
It's one of my favourite spots to grab a bite in this neighbourhood and I'm always craving their kalguksu. However, after coming here multiple times to count - they can be a little inconsistent. My usual is the KalManduGuk which is their beef base noodle soup with 2 pieces of decent size mandu. The dish is typically pretty good and hearty - especially on a cold winter day, so delicious! But on random days, I found the broth a bit lacking in flavour/watered down. I do wish they gave each bowl more minced meat though. They probably only put like a heaping teaspoon of minced beef in the bowl along with some sliced vegetables. We've also tried their new chicken kalguksu where it's chicken soup base with chicken pieces and a chicken thigh. I do recommend getting the beef base kalguksu better. But that's just my preference! The chicken one is also much more expensive. I also went recently and I'm not sure if it is for all locations but they just changed their noodles to a flat noodle. I do prefer their old noodles as it was more bouncy and chewy. The new wavy flat noodles were kind of overcooked and soggy. If I'm ordering another dish, I do like their bossam set with a smaller bowl of kalguksu. The bossam meat is tender but I do wish they provide us more Napa cabbage since only a few pieces is not enough for the amount of meat. I do like to wrap each piece with the cabbage. The set also comes with radish kimchi slices, jalapeno, garlic and ssamjang. They don't really offer side dishes here like the other traditional Korean restaurants in this neighbourhood. They do provide kimchi if you order their kalguksu and 3 side dishes if you order their meat set dish with rice. We've also had their bulgogi set which comes with these 3 side dishes. But to be honest the 3 side dishes were just ok, nothing special and not very flavourful. The bulgogi set was good but a tad bit sweet. Not sure if I would order that again unless you like your bulgogi sweet! Overall, I do like the restaurant since not many places offer kalguksu. The service was good but on busy nights, they may forget to punch in your order so you have to remind them if you notice the order is coming slow. They usually come out within 10 minutes! I did one time have the server forget our order and we waited over 35-40 minutes. But she was very apologetic. The space can hold a lot of tables so we normally don't have to wait too long to get seated.

Yelp
I've been to this restaurant over five times now, so I know all the best recommendations here. First off, I love their bossam set. It comes with kalguksu and bossam, perfectly portioned for one serving. Just a heads-up: this set doesn't include their complementary fresh kimchi, so if you want that, be sure to order an additional non-set entree. Another must-try is their pork mandu. I've tried both the kimchi and pork mandu, and I definitely prefer the pork ones. They're thin, juicy, and delicate in flavour. Their bibimbap is also delicious. It uses fresh ingredients, but it is on the pricier side, a bit small, and could have used more meat. The Jjol Tteok-bokki and Jajang Tteok-bokki are not the best, too spicy and lacked flavour. Not to mention, the glass noodles were still too chewy in the Jjol Tteok-bokki. All in all, the only downside to this restaurant is that it can get a bit expensive. However, the servers are extremely attentive and kind, so the combination of good food and excellent service makes it worth it.

Yelp
Second time I visited this location. 1. Meat mandu ($14.99) - Loved it. Consistently good. Definitely prefer their meat to kimchi mandu. Pork & veg stuffing was very much plump and enjoyed thin wrap around it. 2. Kalmandu($16.99) - Noodles & Mandu combination in milky beef bone broth. Again. Consistency. There is no negative surprise here. You know what you will get. Hearty & meaty broth w/homemade noodles, freshly made kimchi & optional hot paste. 3. Bloor location special ; Chicken Noodle Soup($22.99) Once stirfried beansprouts were added to chiken broth, it added smoky flavour to the broth which was like hybrid of Korean & Japanese broth. Enjoyed sliced egg & woodear mushroom garnish as well. It was a fantastic noodle soup. There was only one wait staff who was covering the entire dining room, she never lost a smile and very attentive!

Yelp
One of the best Korean restaurants I have tried in Canada so far! We dined in for lunch on Sunday. The restaurant was busy but we got a table right away. We ordered Bulgogi set which comes with Kalgkus and rice, Seafood pancake and pork mandu. All the dishes came at the same time without much wait. We enjoyed all the dishes. I personally liked the mandu - very juicy and flavorful. Reason for minus one star is that they did not offer bunchan (only Kimchi was provided). The servers were very friendly. I will definitely go back to try Bibim noodle next time!

Yelp
We recently dined at Myeongdong Gyoza Kalguksu on Bloor Street. The restaurant is modern, clean, and the tables are spaced fairly well apart so that it doesn't feel like you're bunched up to the tables next to you. The service was attentive but not intrusive. The menu offers a variety of Korean dishes. This time we had the KalManduGuk and the Kimchi Gyoza. Both were excellent. What was disappointing is that the pricing and product is not consistent across locations. The original Thornhill location is more reasonably priced and they provide the Banchan (side dishes) that are the standard in every good Korean restaurant. It is very disappointing that this location (Bloor St.) does not provide these. The food we had was very good, though it would've been a more complete Korean meal with the Banchan.

Yelp
I believe this place is connected to the Thornhill and Mississauga locations. Nevertheless - a great addition to the Annex area. Great service and a very clean space to have a good meal. Service is fair but takes a while to take your order. I ordered the meal set here and wish I got the Dumplings as the bulgogi meal set was superb for what you pay for. A place I would go back for a meal before heading home.

Yelp
Free barley tea and cold water were provided. I happen to love barley tea. When the food came, they also gave a bowl of kimchi free. We ordered the following: 1. Gyoza ($14.99). 2. TteokGuk ($16.99). 3. Seafood Pancake ($21.99). There is a generous amount of squid. The dish comes with a dipping sauce. The customer service is good. There are 6 gyoza, stuffed with plenty of meat. The TteokGuk is a rice cake soup; it was very warming and satisfying. The Seafood Pancake comes with scissors, so you can cut it into pieces yourself. With the sauce, it was very tasty. There is plenty of indoor seating. There is modern music playing in the background.

Yelp
Myeongdong Gyoza Kalguksu located along Bloor near Major St. specializes in kalguksu, a Korean noodle dish consisting of handmade, knife-cut wheat flour noodles, and gyoza, both perfect for a cold winter day! The restaurant can sit quite a number of customers and is great for a quick lunch or dinner with friends. I've had takeout from Myeongdong Gyoza Kalguksu many times in the past from their Thornhill location and was excited about this location downtown. I stopped by for a quick lunch on a weekday as soon as the restaurant opened. There wasn't many people during my visit but several parties did come in as well. I ordered the kalmanduguk (homemade Kalguksu noodles and dumplings with beef bone broth) which came with 2 big dumplings. Kimchi was also given on the side (love their kimchi as well!). Everything was delicious as before. The hot soup broth was comforting and the noodles were cooked perfectly. The mandu were stuffed with ingredients. Service was friendly throughout my lunch. Definitely recommend checking out Myeongdong Gyoza Kalguksu if you haven't yet!

Yelp
This spot is basically straight from the Korean dramas. I'm always craving a good spot for some authentic Korean dishes and this new restaurant in downtown Toronto really has all the traditional menus. We ordered a kimchi mandu to share and they were HUGE! I really liked the amount of stuffings in the dumplings too! We got their bulgogi set to share as well and it came with Kalguksu and rice and stir fried Bulgogi . We really liked the kalguksu broth and the stir fried bulgogi was a really nice pairing with noodles too. The staffs were also all very friendly and the service was quick! The restaurant also gad very homey interiors too! I want to try their Bossam set next! Definitely coming back!

Yelp
This is a Korean restaurant in Koreatown (Bloor St) serving knife cut noodles and Gyoza (Mandu / Dumplings). I got the Gyoza ($14.99) and Knife Cut Noodles - KalGukSu ($13.99). I would recommend to try both the gyoza and knife cut noodles as this is what they are known for. You can also get the dish that come with both gyoza and noodles. The food was delicious and the meal came with a generous portion of fresh kimchi. The knife cut noodles had a great texture and the soup was rich but not too heavy. The gyozas were filling, well-seasoned and not oily. The interior is clean and spacious although it can get loud if there are a lot of people. Service is generally quick. Overall, great tasting and unique food - would recommend.

Yelp
