Google
Truly such a great gem and a great family run business to support! The owner is so friendly. The falafels are so good! The apple muffin was also sooo bomb. This spot is a MUST TRY!

Google
Truly a Toronto establishment. This place has a lot of history and Elias is a character you don’t see in the modern dining industry anymore. Prices are still very affordable for a quick and simple breakfast or lunch. The apple cake is legendary

Google
I think about their apple cake at random times… It’s the kind of cake that feels nostalgic, like the desserts my grandma used to make. I really hope they never close down. The owners are nice and the price is very affordable.

Come here for a cheap bite and smiles. The owner is super friendly and very interactive with his customers. Their apple cake is delicious and makes the perfect treat. This was my second time coming here and there is always a line up during the lunch hour. I think it was the special of the day, but we got a banana loaf for $5! Would recommend and come back.

Google
Owner is super nice and chill. Food was great. I tried the falafel wrap. Spicy sauce is great and so is the hummus. Kept the falafel from being dry which is something other shawarma spots really struggle with. Lentil soup reminds me of some really good homemade daal, loved it. Apple cake is incredible. Will definitely have to come back and grab a full one. Full cake (12 slices) is only $22 which is definitely worth the price. To explain what the cake is, it's basically a really good banana bread with a crispy crust, except it's apple instead of banana, and it works really well. This place reminds me of a small town business, except it's in the heart of downtown Toronto. Truly a gem that you rarely find in a city full of corporatized and chain restaurants.

You cannot go wrong. This is the place that brightens your day instantly. The owner is super nice and funny whenever we are there. The Apple Cake -- every time we try it we are blown away. We bought half a loaf of the apple cake ($12) and honestly we will finish it in one go.

This place is truly a hidden gem. I got a toasted bagel with egg and cheese and a medium coffee for only $6. That's unheard of these days. The appearance of the restaurant might deter some people, but if you give it a try, you'll love it. The ingredients used were incredibly fresh, and the bagel with egg and cheese is probably the best you will ever taste. The coffee was excellent too. The service is very friendly, making you feel comfortable and welcome. P.S. Apple Cake is a must-try.

Google
Great food, amazing prices, and incredible service. Elias and his family are so kind and fun. I love coming here. Many interesting photos up on the wall from customers over the years. Of course, you have to try the apple cake. Lots of good options for a quick and tasty lunch/snack.

Yelp
As soon as my friends and I walked in, we were welcomed with the very old school, family-owned, been in town for forever vibe. We got 2 slices of the infamous apple cake to share and it definitely lives up to the hype! It includes big chunks of baked apples that are soft but not too too mushy, paired with the crispy crumb on top.

Yelp
Very sweet owners and very delicious food! Prices are very reasonable too! I tried their small chickpea salad - which I'd say for the price is a good size, and of corse, the apple cake! Amazing cake. The consistency of it kind of reminds me of an Arab dessert called 'hireesay' but apple flavour and it's literally perfect!

Yelp
Easy walk from our hotel. The apple cake is as everybody says. Amazing. Super nice guy runs the place.

Yelp
I was a little confused by the ordering process (owners get a gauge of how many bagels need to be toasted for everyone in the restaurant, then individuals start ordering what they want on them), but the owners could not be more helpful and pleasant. Inside, the area is mostly open with a few seats and tables, enough for a few people to sit and eat. I imagine the open area gets packed most mornings. I had a bagel with ham and cheese, which was tasty and satisfying -- not particularly large but paired well with the famous apple cake and a coffee for a lovely complete breakfast. The other reviews have it right -- the apple cake is a must-buy. It's absolutely delicious with its crisp edges, sweet and moist cake, and soft apple chunks inside. Save yourself the FOMO and just tack it onto your order! Value: 4/5 Quality: 5/5 Quantity: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Atmosphere: 4/5

Yelp
Feeling ashamed that I did not know about this 29 yr old Toronto small cafe 'til now. Its kitschy & super casual. Wonderful to see the steady flow of obvious regular customers. Happy accident helped me finally find it. Our little group were fortunate to stop here for a snack of: lentil soup, egg wrap sandwich, egg salad, coffee, banana bread and apple cake. They TRULY DO have incredible apple cake! Go visit Mystic Muffin in downtown T.O. Support this family run biz! I'll definitely be back. (Find me on Instagram- @aida.loves )

Yelp
This place an absolute must stop. I was staying nearby for 4 nights and ended up here 3 days in a row. The food is delicious, the owners are awesome, and the prices are "cheap." Whenever I find myself back in Toronto, I will absolutely be visiting Mystic Muffin again. Probably multiple times.

Yelp
Cute little place not too far from Eaton Centre. Has a wide selection of items. Pastries looked awesome. Went with the apple fritter and got a FRESH slice. Corner slice is the best! Owner is super friendly and cracks a lot of jokes. One of the best slices of apple pie you can get in Toronto. 4.3/5.

Yelp
Pros: + Apple Cake is delicious! + Price is fair + Serving size is good + Friendly staff, clean establishment, good sense of humour, and cool retro interior Cons: - Can't personally give it a 5/5 as I'm not a big apple guy! Not a fan of apple pie or apple crisp, so this isn't something I'd get again, but if you're into that stuff, then this is a must-try! After walking and driving past the extravagantly quirky entrance for years, I finally stopped in to try Mystic Muffin after a friend recommended their world-famous Apple Cake! It almost has the appearance and consistency of banana bread, but instead of being dry and crispy on the bottom, it's moist and gooey. The middle layer is equally as moist with a nice fluffy texture. There are also nice chunks of fresh apple throughout. The top of the cake is crunchy and sweet which really rounds things out and makes a nice bite. I can't personally give it a 5/5 as I'm not a big apple guy! Not a fan of apple pie or apple crisp, so this isn't something I'd get again, but if you're into that stuff, then this is a must-try! The weirdo trippy signage out front is awesome. "781 Billion Served!" is my favourite sign. The gentleman who served me was very friendly, funny, and laidback. The inside is old-school, but nice and clean with a handful of seats in front of the window.

Yelp
We were walking in downtown and looking for a quick snack spot to continue going from Distillery District to Nathan Philips Square. Mystic Muffin came to rescue with its moistest and delectable apple cake. While I am a savoury person and took red lentil soup, my husband grabbed a hot chocolate. I'll highly recommend soup and cake (of course not as a combo). This place is in business for 30 years now and the owner is probably the jolliest person I have met. The pricing is extremely economical for a place in downtown. Marked as one of my favourites now. For more such reviews/explorations, follow me on insta at @mygourmetaffair.

Yelp
Not much to say here except you must get the apple bread. I don't know what they put in here, but it's addicting and crazy good. I haven't worked in this area in years and still dream about this bread.
google avatar

Yelp
The world famous Apple Cake I remember trying this almost a decade ago and I couldn't believe how delicious it was. It's still as good today, moist on the inside with some hints of crispy edges. So friggin good. Do yourself a favour and just buy a full or half slab of it because one slice won't be enough!

Yelp
A must visit - the people are awesome, kind, and humble. The food is alright but great for the price and way better with the vibes in there. Go check it out and have a sandwich and a slice of apple cake.

Sonia L.

Yelp
Place is closed until August 16th. Owners are away for family time- just a heads up! Was really hoping to try this place while we were in town. Until next time!

Victor C.

Yelp
They make the best apple bread I've ever tasted. The apple cake is moist, flavourful and perfectly textured. The cake is not too sweet . Beware that they sell out very quickly so good luck. Best to pre-order if you don't want to be disappointed.

P R.

Yelp
The apple cake is a must order. The owners are so friendly and encouraged us to get the apple cake which was outstanding. The best I have ever had!

Abdul E.

Yelp
Great vibe s soon as you walk in. Couple of guys ahead ordering and picking up. I came to try the appetizer cake and it was great. Moist on the inside and crispy edges and best part it was still warm ! We got a couple of muffins too. They were tasty too. I strongly recommend trying at least the apple cake and we were tempted to pick up a couple of pound cake. They were warm too. There are Ali's bagels and sandwiches options.

Yelp
"73 Billion Served" - a sign above the establishment reads. I can't fathom that number considering it has (only) been open for 27 years. Maybe it's a joke? A misreading of the numbers? Do I misinterpret? Approx. 3 billion served a year? Absolutely no way - it should've been way more than that. This place states it has served our entire population 10 times over but considering the quality, price and lovability - it should've been 20x. This place has got me full with quality, handmade food for a price no one can really match. Go try anything. except the cookies. I didn't really like the cookies. But try anything else.

Ashley L.

Yelp
I haven't lived in Toronto for 10 years but I still think about their apple cake. They were always so kind and warm when you went in. My first time visiting I was 18 and new to the city. I ordered a slice of apple cake and a tea without realizing (at that time, it's probably changed) that they didn't take cards. The kind girl behind the counter insisted that I still take my order and pop back in when I could to cover it. I went back the next day and thus began a years-long addiction to apple cake. Eventually I had to stop eating gluten for a stomach issue and had to give up the cake but I still think about it and occasionally try a copy cat recipe with GF flour. Nothing has ever compared.

Yelp
Mystic Muffin is an absolute staple of Downtown Toronto. Whenever I have friends from abroad come visit and we're just a little bit hungover, I make sure to work Mystic Muffin into the conversation. A friend of mine recently moved into the Queen/Sherbourne area and I made sure to take her directly to Elias. The owner of MM, Elias, couldn't be more friendly. He works diligently and efficiently, but makes sure that you're well taken care of during your visit. Aside from the traditional breakfast fare, I'd definitely try the apple cake. Think of it as the Baked Apple Pie from McDonald's... but way better. It's usually hot and fresh, and has just the right combination of sweet, savoury, and tart. For $4, it can't be beat. Mystic Muffin is one of the best known places for breakfast in Toronto and for good reason. Great selection, great food, and most of all, great service. You can't go wrong paying Elias a visit next time you're in the Queen/Jarvis area!

Yelp
Flavourful and filling food served with warm smiles at reasonable prices. Not a fancy frou frou place but they've been around for 24 years so that tells you something. RECOMMENDATIONS: - Apple cake - moist cake flavoured with aromatic spices filled with chunks of sweet apple and topped with a scrumptious crumble topping. - Chicken salad sandwich (served on bread or pita) - Chicken and Potato sandwich - Lentil soup - made with 11 different kinds of veggies. It's chunky, thick, savoury and filling. - Hummus - smooth, a little plain but went really well with their falafel. - Falafel - delicious, lightly crisp on the outside. - Cookies (1 chocolate chip and 1 oatmeal raisin) are soft with a nice chew and not too sweet.

Yelp
Was excited to try this place after seeing so many yelp reviews. I got the falafel plate and spicy beef patty. The falafels were good but nothing spectacular, the fries were good too with the mystery spice he added on top. The salads were T E R R I B L E. I don't think I've had such terrible salads in my life! There was no dressing on the salads and it was basically just leafs. Also I know the owner is trying to be funny but I really did not enjoy how he just started pointing at people and telling them where to go. Seemed a bit disrespectful although I guess that was his humour. He also said it was going to be family day soon and said something about how I should have it on my will??? Bruh wtf?? Was not in the mood for a joke like that when I'm in my mid twenties and was just trying to grab some breakfast. Over hyped and very pushy/disrespectful sense of humour. He should take it down a notch.

Yelp
This place is the absolute best. From the owner's life story written on the wall, to the funny signs all over, to every item on the menu having "love" listed as a topping, to the funny and friendly service from said owner, to the absolutely BOMB apple cake, you cannot go wrong with this place. I'm in Toronto in that area about twice a year for photoshoots, and I ALWAYS make sure to stop at Mystic Muffin. I like the egg bagel sandwich with a coffee and a slice of the apple cake, but I hear great things about the chicken and potato sandwich, so maybe I'll give that a try next time. Nothing fancy, just deliciousness and heartwarming vibes. CHECK IT OUT!

Yelp
What can I say, I have a soft spot for mom and pop shops that provide good food at a fair price and Mystic Muffin is definitely it. Their platter, while possibly to carb heavy for some, is so flavourful, especially the potatoes and portions are very generous. I particularly recommend their eggplant, which, though it costs extra, is worth every penny. Though not pictured, I also indulged in Mystic's famous apple cake---a delicious treat that's got a bit of crunch up top but is perfectly moist everywhere else. So delicious I got half a pan of it ($11) to share at work and nobody could stop at just having a slice. I look forward to trying more menu items and knowing where I can go for delicious and fairly priced cakes for potlucks and gatherings!

Nina C.

Yelp
Cannot recommend Mystic Muffin highly enough. The food is always fresh and delicious - the apple cake is amazing but the muffins are unsung heroes. The owners are friendly and kind. This place is a real hub and pillar of the community.

Yelp
I looked online for nearby restaurants and Mystic Muffin showed up. It had a bunch of 5-star reviews and photos. Especially of their apple cake. So, I got ready and walked in the beautiful 70° weather for the 1.4 miles. The owner, his wife, and little son were so hospitable. I wound up having the falafel wrap, Mt. Dew, and a piece of that apple cake. I am here to tell you, it would have been worth the walk at 5 miles. (For me, that's saying something). By the way, I ordered two pieces of apple cake to go as well.

Yelp
I was hungry and looking for something cheap, asked what the guy working would recommend and he gave me the chicken and potato sandwich, said he'd guarantee I'd be full. He was right, delicious, filling and a great price. Not only that but he was super friendly (even introduced himself by name, turns out he started the business) and made great conversation. Best eating experience in Toronto so far!

Yelp
Yum... As I take my last few bites of the vegetarian platter. So good! Like other Yelpers, I was skeptical about this place. What the heck is Mystic Muffin? Always saw this place when I walked to work but didn't have any interest going until I happen to check my Yelp app and was blown away by how many great reviews they had. I had a day off from work so I decided to come here for lunch. When I walked in a nice lady greeted me. I believe the owner was in the back but he kindly came out to greet me as well. I asked what she recommended but I knew I would probably end up ordering the veg platter. Luckily she suggested that as well and I went on my merry way. It came up to $9 and you can have a pita or cookie with the platter. When I got home and took a bite, their hummus is delicious! That was probably my favourite part along with the falafel. The salads were great as well. I agree with some reviews that the rice and potatoes aren't anything special. It's not, but it's still good and paired well with everything else. Also being a first timer, got to try a piece of their yummy apple cake. It was so nice and moist and just so good. Thanks Mystic Muffin for a great first experience!

Yelp
Well honestly I can't add anything that hasn't been already said. I'm just happy to give them another rave review. The amount that you get for that price is something that will have me going back. And the flavours will keep my taste buds very grateful for that decision. I'm not usually a big fan of Mediterranean food but of course, with the excellent ratings on numerous review sites, I knew I had to give this place a try. It was one of those unassuming places I would have never gone to unless I knew about it. But am I glad I found out about its existence. I got the Better Life Combo, and upon finding out that it was my first time there, Elias offered me a piece of that crazy famous Apple Cake (instead of the cookie/pita that usually comes with the combo). Yes, listen to everything that's been said before. This cake is very delicious. That little caramelized crust from the top of the cake. I can eat that all day every day. My takeout box was PILED with food and it was so very very good. $8 and I was completely stuffed. What a great lunch idea. Definitely coming back. Definitely going to try and convince my coworkers to go with me. Another satisfied customer for the Mystic Muffin.

Jessica Q.

Yelp
My friends and I were looking for something to grab and go and we saw Mystic Muffin came up on Google. We decided to give it a try and my my my, no wonder it had good reviews! Food was served quickly, and I must say, the price was worth it. I recommend Mystic Muffin if you want something simple, quick, and filling. Oh and a shout-out to the owner, who was warm and friendly!

Yelp
Mystic Muffin has been on many top Toronto best cheap eats list as far as I can remember. You always read the words of "plentiful, healthy, and awesome flavours" that goes on each list. What some list fail to capture is the amazing and incredibly charismatic gentleman behind the counter. He will make you smile if not laugh the entire time you're there. Mystic Muffin names doesn't convey the true nature of this place ... don't expect a bakery. You get to experience the most honest and fun conversation with a complete stranger (unless you're a regular) while enjoying some of the best and most affordable Mediterranean food in Toronto. The lady in front of us was getting the full treatment of learning what Mediterranean hospitality is all about and how she's got to bring one of the banana bread loafs (only $5 for the entire thing and freshly made! That's his hustle) to her friends cottage if she ever wants a return invite. He definitely knows how to work everyone into the conversation so even if there's a line, you never feel it once. As for me, I wanted a piece of the famed apple cake and for $3, I got a good sized helping to bring back. I could have eaten it there and then as there is a few tables available but his super clean but fairly spartan place is meant more as a take out spot. Apple Cake - I get why there's much love for this. It's like the best homestyle baked good you can find in Toronto. Tight crumbed and yet will quite light and moist, the cake is just the right sweetness that still gives the tender apple chunks the starring role. I loved how the sugar created a light crisp top that shatters and crumbles while you take a bite. It's very simple and homey but sometimes simple is the best. 4/5 The cake is a solid 4 star rave but the gentleman is a star in itself so 5 star from me. Next time, I'm here for lunch!

Yelp
SO HAPPY I FINALLY TRIED THIS TORONTO STAPLE. Their signature apple cake is a MUST. So moist but still had a caramelized crust. Their croissant was surprisingly very fresh and their muffins wasn't too sweet at all, just the right touch (infinitely better than your local Tim's muffins)!

Yelp
I LOVEEEEE THIS PLACE!! Not just for the food but the owner as well! He's such a sweet guy, very chatty, loves to talk to customers and is just the nicest person ever. He works there with his wife and son and the whole family is just the best. If you're reading this now during the coronavirus - please go visit him and help him keep the business alive!! He's open because he genuinely wants to help people - he gets a lot of healthcare providers from the nearby hospital coming through, tired and hungry because nothing else is open, and he just wants to be able to provide for them! Their apple cake is the moist-est cake I've ever had and their breakfast bagels are top notch. Love this place, love the owner, highly highly recommend!!! :)

Yelp
I was moseying around for my morning walks and figured I'd go see if Mystic Muffin was open. Not only are they open but they are ready to serve! There is a lot more room to wait inside as they cleared away the tables and chairs to the corner. The store is still homey with lots of pastries, patties, and ready-to-make wraps at your service. The food is literally always, always fresh. The owner is the sweetest man ever. He's always ready to joke around and have a conversation with you. I bought half an apple cake today for $11 (full one is $20) and these things are massive! Definitely drop by if you're in the area.
google avatar

Ashley Z.

Yelp
I wouldn't say this is the "best apple crumble in town". This is overrated, but still a decent apple pie. I ordered the pie with lentil soup. The soup is much better than the pie.

Alan P.

Yelp
The apple cake lives up to the high expectations. That is all we tried and worth the visit in itself. The owner is very friendly as well. Apple cake!

Yelp
After reading all the reviews and articles, I had envisioned Elias and I having a grand conversation, but he only asked if I wanted onion on my chicken salad pita. He did ask twice since he forgot my answer the first time. Maybe he didn't get enough sleep with the new baby. There was a baby girl behind the counter and a beautiful woman (whom I'm going to assume is his wife) feeding her. My first time here and I didn't a free slice of apple cake. I had to buy my own but it was well worth the $2.50. It was dense, cinnamony, moist, not too sweet, with chucks of apples and very delicious. I came around lunch time and there was 1 person ahead of me in line. After that, there was a constant stream of customers coming in, most sounded like regulars. My $5 chicken salad pita was good (came with lettuce, tomato, onion and spices). Quick, easy and fresh. I was eyeing the samosa and beef roll, but wasn't sure if they would be good for a late afternoon snack. There were plenty of room to sit and I ate my lunch at the counter overlooking Jarvis Street. Update: My 2nd visit, I've made progress with Elias in terms of conversation. I asked him about his favorite pita and he said he likes to make a chicken with eggplant but no onion. I never had a falafel pita before, so I ordered one here. AMAZING! Very tasty and I highly recommend. CASH ONLY

Yelp
After trying to come here twice and finding them closed, we finally got to try mystic muffin this weekend! The guy is just super friendly and quirky, and the menu was overwhelming, but I went with what I saw the most often on yelp -- the veggie combo. They don't make rice and potato on the weekend, so my plate came without, but it was a huge serving so I was okay with it. My partner got the tuna salad sandwich on pita (combo). The guy was very friendly and gave us 2 slices of apple cake instead of a cookie for one of he combos since it was our first time there (and he did it to another new customer too), which made us very happy since that's what they're known for! AND who doesn't like free food. Now onto the review of the food. I started off eating the salad, and for about 5 minutes, it was just a salad-- not bad, nothing special. Then I had a bite of the falafel. What in the world?? It was SO delicately crunchy. The texture of the crust is a mixture of flaky (but not big chunky flaky.. tiny, delicate flaky) crispiness that is indescribable.. It was SO good, and I don't even usually like falafels! And the hummus! My food experience seriously went from meh for the first few minutes to oh my god (that escalated quickly). The wrap was just okay, and so was the cookie. The apple cake was pretty good -- i don't usually like cooked apples, but the cake part was moist and flavourful. I just found the place endearing overall. The story on the wall gives his story as an immigrant, and the other wall is covered with photos of his family. It's a true, old, neighbourhood business that you don't find much anymore nowadays (oh and not in a 'hipster' sense). I hope they're able to stick around for a long time.

Yelp
Sometimes when you are in a so so mood... and you hate when people asking you too many personal questions.. especially if it is someone you never met before about where do you live? what you do for a living? (I feel like saying live in yelp world, yelping full time for a living) I guess I am in one of my bitchy mood?! Dropped by Mystic Muffin during my Indie Coffee Passport Run, just a sense of "been here! ate that!". Toasted Pumpernickel Bagel with Butter and Med Coffee ($2.49) - Great price! - The bagel itself was lightly toasted.. crispy outside and nice chewy inside.. and how I like it was not overloaded with butter... Services was nice and quick. I would have order more but it was a 3 pm post lunch snack... :) I know it is not fair to rate Mystic Muffin based on one visit...but sometimes it is the first impression that counts? Maybe I should come back when I am in a better mood, maybe I will enjoy the jokes and humor better!

Yelp
I came here during the lunch hour on a Friday, and the place seemed relatively busy with regulars. The restaurant had a quaint bakery/deli vibe, and the owner made an effort to be friendly with all of his customers. I ordered the veggie platter, which included 4 salads, hummus, two falfels, rice, potatoes and an option of a pita or cookie ($9.50). The food tasted fresh and had good flavour. The restaurant also carries muffins, sandwiches, salads, wraps and soups, among other items. There's also a small seating area for customers to eat. On the way out, I ordered a sausage roll ($2.50) as a snack for later in the day. The pastry was flaky but a little oily after warming it in the microwave - I should have toasted it instead. Overall, good food at good prices. Another plus: listed prices included tax, which made it easier when paying. Cash or debit ($0.25 added charge, however)
google avatar

Henrica P.

Yelp
The apple cake was delicious (I bought half the cake) :). The banana bread with chocolate chips was also a 2 thumbs up and the sausage rolls were quite yummy as well. I will be going back to try some more items from the menu. The owner was so friendly.
google avatar

Randa A.

Yelp
The owner is very friendly and extroverted. He chatted with us the entire time we were there, making me feel very at home. I ordered the veggie combo which was $9.50 and pretty filling. I found the potatoes to be a little salty for my liking and the food was warmed in the microwave for some odd reason. However, it still tasted pretty fresh. Elias also threw in a slice of famous apple cake since he knew we were new to the joint. That was incredibly generous of him and I was not disappointed in the cake at all. The hospitality and service was great. I will definitely return if I am in the area.

Yelp
Our Airbnb gets the credit for introducing us to Mystic Muffin. Our downtown apartment was right next to it. Otherwise, we would have NEVER found it. It's a corner bakery with no-thrills. The inside is very quirky decorated with the most random trinkets. However, their muffins are good and cheap! Try the chocolate chip muffin if you have a sweet tooth. Skip their coffee if you want anything better than basic black coffee.

Yelp
Update: I went on Saturday and met the famous owner and they offered me and my partner free Apple cake. He seemed to remember my cousin came to get one of the many pans of apple cakes sold on Dec 29. We devoured it. Along with a falafel wrap and a BELT bagel. It's a lovely mom and pop restaurant that I can't believe lasted this long given the development on the opposite side of the street. Long live mystic muffin! Two words: Apple Cake. I didn't even come here before as my cousin bought a whole pan to a holiday dinner and my oh my, even reheated it stood out from 4 other cakes on the table. First of all I think it was the variation in texture that made for an interesting mouthfeel. It has a crust but also a moist and bouncy inner bready body, kind of like bread pudding. There were also parts that were fluffy too. It also wasn't too sweet. A lot of Christmas desserts are just sweet throughout, and with the apple cake it was just the embedded apple bits. I may have imagined it but I think there is just a dash of icing sugar on top. Anyway this is an unforgettable apple cake I need to revisit for.

Yelp
Decent food and good service in a very home-sy diner environment. As all of the other reviews suggest, Elias seems to be a fairly friendly and nice guy. However, my experience was only just standard. I would say I had an a-okay time but nothing was exceptionally outstanding. The highly acclaimed applecake was definitely good but not the best that I've had. Then again, that might be because I am an avid foodie for baked goods.

Yelp
So. This review is 2 years late. But, I recently finally made a yelp account and my boyfriend and I both agreed I needed to write my super overdue review on this place and give it the 5 stars it damn deserves. We were vacationing in Toronto on a hot summer, stopped by this place for lunch, got an awesome platter each (the falafel was great), then the super nice/friendly man (owner?) gave us a free cookie. And it wasn't a regular cookie. A freshly baked, chocolate chip cookie with oozing chocolate in each bite. Now, I know this was 2 years late, but nonetheless, my conscience would not let it go because out of all the restaurants we went to in Toronto, this was by far the most memorable. !!

Yelp
This is a popular place among my coworkers for treat day or farewell treats. The apple pie is one of the best in town with good amount of apples stuffed inside. The sweetness level is perfect too.

Yelp
Decided to drop by for an apple cake as I was in the neighborhood. The owner makes you feel relaxed and comfortable as soon as you walk in. He makes light-hearted jokes with his customers and while I sat at one of the tables, it was clear that he has a lot of frequent flyer customers returning for either a whole apple cake or some other meal. The owner knew each of his returning customer's usual orders right when they entered the restaurant. I only tried the apple cake and it does not disappoint. For $3, it's delicious, perfect level of sweetness, with bits of apple on the inside. I would definitely return to grab another bite if I'm back in the area.
