Korean BBQ

Sydney
Myung jang and Obaltan restaurant

I tried their Korean fried chicken and it was SO good! The chicken was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with the sauce perfectly balanced — not too sweet, not too spicy. The portion was generous and the flavor really hit the spot. The place has a nice vibe and the staff were friendly too. Definitely a must-try if you’re craving proper Korean fried chicken! 🍗✨

Best Korean BBQ buffet i’ve ever been to, and trust me i’ve been to countless over Sydney. With this price and quality i doubt there’s anywhere else you’d want to go because it not only has the widest menu range i’ve seen in all of sydney but it is tasty as well. I highly recommend and the staff is extremely nice and checks up on you frequently and wait time isn’t long either often coming within around 5-10 mins max!

We had quite a large group booking and were seated upstairs, which was a good space for a group. Unfortunately, the overall experience was very disappointing and felt quite chaotic. The restaurant was seriously understaffed on the night. There appeared to be only one staff member looking after upstairs. She was clearly doing her best, but it was far too much for one person to manage. As a result, multiple food orders were missed, dishes arrived very late, and several items we ordered never came at all. Drinks we ordered also didn’t arrive. The food quality itself was fairly low overall. Two standouts were the kimchi pancakes and tteokbokki, they were genuinely fantastic, and we ended up ordering several for the table. Aside from that, most dishes were underwhelming. The grill tops weren’t changed during the night, and our grill also kept turning off, which made cooking frustrating and constantly interrupted the meal. There were also no sauces provided with the BBQ, which was surprising. Having been to many Korean BBQ restaurants around Sydney, sauces are usually standard. We ended up ordering sauces separately, but they arrived so late that we had already finished eating by the time they came out. On top of this, the restaurant itself felt quite unclean. The overall cleanliness of the space, including the dining area and grills was below what you’d expect, which really detracted from the experience. It’s uncomfortable to complain when staff are clearly stretched thin, but the lack of adequate staffing, organisation, cleanliness, and basic maintenance significantly impacted the night. With better management and resourcing, this place could be much better, especially for large group bookings, but on this occasion, most of our group left feeling pretty disappointed.

After 15+ years, this is still my favourite Korean BBQ restaurant. Go to dishes: Goon man doo (fried dumplings) Hae mul pajeon (seafood pancake) Youk hwei (beef tartare) Mul neng myun (cold noodles) Woo seol (ox tongue) Wash it all down with some beer, soju or my personal favourite, makgeolli.

A hidden gem for meat lovers! They serve both grilled meat and hotpot, with excellent meat quality and flavors that are rich yet refreshing. The place can be a little hard to find, but it’s so worth it once you dine here. Enjoying the meal with friends makes the experience even more delightful. Highly recommended for a cozy and satisfying food adventure!

It was hidden away in the alley. None of the staffs are Korean and the foods aren’t authentic Korean. The spicy cold noodles and corn cheese were quite a big disappointment. We had the premium bbq buffet, however a lot of things we ordered did not come out. It was an ok experience, not the worst Korean bbq out there however it’s not the best.

The ginseng chicken, fried chicken were great. Seafood pancake a bit oily and Tteokbokki a bit hard. Overall we enjoyed the lunch/afternoon tea and would come back again.

This restaurant offers a great menu with a wide variety of options. We ordered a selection of stews, including beef stew, pork bone stew, and tofu and beef stew. Each dish was served piping hot, with rich, bold flavors and a satisfying kick that made every bite mouthwatering. The broth was well-balanced, deeply flavorful, and absolutely delicious. One of the best Korean restaurants in the city!

Yelp
Fast service. Quick pork set menu for 2. Very busy. Need to wait. Good chili sauce. Complex dipping sauce for bbq . Cook yourself.

Yelp
Bibimbap 7/10. Big, but. It very hot and not enough sauce. Too much rice. Also had kimchi stew which was pretty good.

Yelp
Omg! The best BBQ that we have ever had. The ambiance is very different to a Korean place, this kind of modern and current, without going crazy. Food and service GREAT!
