On the Grid : N.Tran

"One of the cheap eats of Prahran, N-tran is does Bánh Mì right. A staple lunch when we are on the run. Traditional Bánh Mì options plus western rolls if you’re not feeling too adventurous, it has all bases covered. Great staff too. If the weather is good, walk down Greville Street to Grattan Gardens and enjoy the sun. Chilli optional." - Self-Titled

I entered the bakery on a quiet afternoon and was met with amazing customer service and lots of affordable options to choose from. Asking the staff for advice, I was led to the popular crispy pork, which only cost me $11.50!! Service was very quick and efficient and I was off to the nearby park in just a few minutes. I don't go out often, however I can confidently say that it was the best sandwich/wrap ( I don't know what they're called :P ) that I've had in a while, and mins you, it was only $11.50. I'm not from Prahran, so I don't know how it compares, but for me, that is a very good price, especially for the amount and quality of food/service you receive. WILL VISIT AGAIN 100%

One of the fastest and good quality Vietnamese food. They have pastries and coffee at the entrance and quick an easy Vietnamese takeout. I had their grilled pork vermicelli salad and it was soo good. The freshness of the salad you could just tell by the look and texture. Also tried their chicken skewers, looked very nice but it was quite dry. The fish sauce was quite good. Better with spicy fish sauce. Maybe worth working on the skewers flavour a bit more. I saw their grilled chicken snd it looks amazing. Haven’t tried it yet but will defiantly be back to try. Service was quick and particle reasonable. Will be my go to spot for quick bite.

Don’t let its humble exterior fool you! This place makes some of the most delicious Vietnamese street food on Chapel. BBQ chicken Bahn mi, crispy pork noodle salads loaded with flavour.

I am Bahn-mi obsessed and feel like I have some pretty high expectations for the amount that I eat. But wow. N.Tran is something else. I had the tofu Bahn mi + it was honestly so freaking good that I wish I could polish a second one off. Kindness staff that work there too!

Attended here for lunch on a whim, after walking past by chance. After seeing the line I suspected we were onto something good, and we weren't disappointed. You can get traditional Banh Mi, or other rolls with a modern twist. We had a pork roll and a lemongrass chilli chick roll and they were great.

I had a disappointing experience here. I ordered two Banh Mi —one with pate and one just the bread. The staff seemed fine, but the way they handled the food was unacceptable. The Banh Mi with pate was given a small paper bag, but the plain bread was handed to me without any cover and placed directly on a public bench where everyone picks up their orders. The area had sauces and other food items, making it completely unsanitary. I had to ask for a bag myself, which should have been a basic standard. For a fast-food spot, hygiene and proper food handling should be a priority. This experience was off-putting, and I won’t be coming back.

Tasty banh mi, $10.50 for the crispy pork banh mi. Meat was cooked just right and retained the juice and was not dry. Friendly staff and the kitchen looks very clean

One of the best Vietnamese bread around town . Delicious, fresh with bunches of topping and various types of bread, reasonable price also. Friendly staff, spacious place.

Yelp
This seems like a bit of a local institution. I only really know of it because a friend that I see a fair bit lives not far away, and she insisted I come in here, knowing I like good bakeries. Make no mistake, this place is a very busy little shop. Every man and his dog must come in here. It's so insanely cheap to grab a few rolls and other bits and pieces, and the quality is pretty damn good. I used to be a baker and pastry chef, so I've got very high standards for the stuff they sell here, but they do it really well. If you're nearby and need something for lunch, you need to stop here. Seriously.

Yelp
We dropped in to this bakery for afternoon tea and it wasn't the best experience. Our coffee was a bit too milky and the pastries we chose were a little dry - maybe because it was the end of the day. The staff were inattentive - they were too busy chatting to each other before serving us.

Yelp
This place is the bomb! Got $7? Get here and fill your belly with some magical vietnamese rolls or bahn mi. They are brilliant. There is a selection of bakery goodness available too. From Bread rolls to donuts. Coffee to a selection of hot pie and treats. This place is a Prahran icon in my eyes and stomach!

Yelp
I love this bakery. I am addicted to their Banh mi. So fresh and so tasty. I actually have to stop myself from coming here everyday. Service is really quick and if you're in the mood, you may want to grab yourself a sweet treat. Love N Tran.

Yelp
Holy moly this place is good! I don't know what they do here but you just want to keep coming back time and time again. The only logical explanation as to why it's so good is that they might put MSG in the bread, who knows. Something that I do know though is that they have the price right, it is incredibly cheap for what you get. By far the best place to come for a sandwich. I also really like the satay chicken they have. Don't be surprised if there is a big queue when you get there, you only have to wait just wait a couple of minutes as the service is very efficient.

Yelp
N Tran is the biggest bargain ever. Crunchy white rolls, tasty fresh fillings. Largely below the $6 mark. Seriously, what more could you want. After a bit of a re-vamp earlier last year I was worried that this cute little Vietnamese bakery would loose its charm (and low prices). But alas, it is the same as ever. And thank god for that.

Yelp
First impression: not authentic. This place is almost like a restaurant. There's seating inside and outside. Not like your typical Vietnamese bakery. The bread was nice although small. They have a range of sandwiches to choose from. I had to ask them to make banh mi (Vietnamese pork roll). Pate was good and their butter similar to Sydney Vietnamese bakery. I'm quite disappointed in the size and price. It was quite expensive for a small Vietnamese roll. They also used dried fried onions and the chilli was not hot at all. Overall I think this place caters for westerners.

Yelp
Fresh salad, bread and meat.. The rolls are great. Music in my mouth

Yelp
I tried a pie from here the other day and it was horrible, it had a big chunk of fat in it about 1 cm in diameter. Disgusting! Will never eat here again. The rolls look ok though.
