This was our favorite meal of our weeklong trip to Portugal. After many days of meals that had failed to wow us, we were absolutely delighted with all the food we ordered here. We started with the fish soup, which seemed simple at first, but was flavorful and addictive. Much better than the other fish soups we tried in Portugal. We also got a charcuterie plate, which came with a generous amount of dry-cured hams and Portuguese cheese. It was a stellar deal, as even the small portion was too big for us to finish. We then got the black pork with poached pear, which was a wonderful combination of flavors and nicely tender, and the orange duck, which was cooked and seasoned to perfection. The portions were on the smaller side for the latter two, but we found that four individual items was enough for us to be pleasantly full. For dessert, we couldn't resist the sweet potato pudding, which tasted like someone had added sweet potato puree to a flan. It was delicious--smooth and deeply flavorful with its burnt caramel sugar.
The restaurant itself was empty for almost the entire time we were eating there, which we couldn't understand given how good the food was. The ambiance is more casual (it feels like you're eating in a general store), so maybe it's more of a lunch spot for locals. Our young waitress was lovely and attentive. We really had a stellar dinner here at this local gem, and I highly recommend you try it too!
