Google
One of the stranger parts of my recent trip to Tokyo. I discovered this place in a back issue of HUGE magazine, a now out of print fashion publication. Anyway found out it was still in business, checked them out and they’re a pretty standard art book store that focuses on recent editions and publications from the Tokyo art community. Very similar selection to the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum in terms of their store. I unfortunately came rather late in the day and didn’t view anything in the gallery but the space is wodnerful, tucked away through the back street so finding it is quite fun. Nice space I would come back again in future

Google
Such an awesome art book store/gallery space. A bit tucked away but that kind of makes it all the more exciting when you finally come upon it. A lot of unique publications by local and international artists. Was grateful to find they were hosting a collection by art-manga artist Yuichi Yokoyama, managed to score a folder of sketches for a great price.

Small hidden art library in the heart of Ebisu. The lower level is dedicated to rotating art exhibits.

Resourceful arts space with rotating exhibitions in a tiny gallery the spiral stare case takes you down to (you can always check Tokyo Art Beat ap for quick reference). The best part - profusion of materials on the subject, as well massive arts & photography books collection you can peruse forever. ;) Always stocked up on brochures on all kinds arts & film festivals going locally & regionally (Setouchi, Aichi & Saitama triennale, for that moment).

Possibly the best bookstore for photographers. This is my stomping grounds for any new releases. Prices are all marked at msrp so don't expect any sales. But the amount of photographers and books they have is massive. They do have some art books as well but I would say 65% of the shops is Art House photography books. It can be tricky to find the first time because it's somewhat tucked away in an alley. Definitely check this shop out if you're into Art House and Photography.

One of the best book shops in Tokyo! Great selection of books (a lot of art/design/comics). Sort of tricky to get here as it is in an alley. If you Google maps walking directions from the train, on the main street right after where the bookstore is located in the alley, take a left on the street right after (there will be Nadiff signs with arrows directing you from there on telephone poles). Enjoy!

Google
A nice big bookstore with a lot of modern, contemporary, and street art books. It's not traditional art or movie art. A lot of interesting books to see and I love that they are not wrapped!! I can flip so many books! This was so hard to find!! Oh Google! your directions are off.

One of my favorite art bookstores in Tokyo. The place is a little bit difficult to find, but once you get there, you would not want to leave until you spend all of your money. So, cut your hands off before you visit NADiff.

Yelp
This is a cool little art shop and gallery dedicated to mostly photography and some fine art. It's not the place to go to get reference, drawing, or game/TV/other thematic art books. The vibe in here is nice. It reminds me a lot of other artsy places I've been (Portland comes to mind) with a gallery that we didn't visit above and below the main shop. It's a little difficult to find. You have to go past the Starbucks on the left side to the end of the block and turn left, then make another few left turns to the center of what appears to be a number of apartment buildings. There are signs on the light poles to help guide you.

Yelp
Love this gallery! Once you find it though. The first time I came here, I was looking forward it with my friend and it was raining cats and dogs. We were soaked down to our pants. We had google map but it was in one of those backstreets where you think you can walk through an alley but you end up somewhere totally the opposite direction. So much for google map.... I'm not complaining, don't get me wrong, I love how hidden it was, we were just caught on a bad day otherwise it would have been a lovely walk where we would explore Ebisu and enjoy the exhibition in a well-hidden gallery. NADiff a/p/a/r/t is a glass building with white interiors and a lovely spiral staircase. The first time I was here, we came for Natsumi Hayashi's Levitation exhibition. It was quirky but awesome. We stood there tilting our heads and just admired the photos. When we were done, of course we went through the gift shop/bookstore and pondered on buying Natsumi Hayashi's photobook. The bookstore is actually quite well stocked with art books and a lot of fiction as well. Just a great place to relax and be away from the busy city to indulge yourself with creativity.
