"Around 9:30, I walked down to Nagle’s Bagels on Tompkins, and ordered the Veggie Nagle: eggs, baby arugula, feta, and chili jam on a salt bagel and then punched in my reward card. Their bagels are good, they’re filling, they’re all that stuff, but I was really coming for the chili jam. The chili jam is fantastic."

"I looked at a breakfast sandwich from Nagle’s Bagels, which is a bagel spot near my apartment, but then I realized that what I actually wanted was a bodega sandwich: a deli sandwich, a kombucha, and a bag of chips is one of my favorite meals."

Delicious bagels and interesting flavor combinations but the cream cheese is almost satire-level-skimpy. Compare this actual blue velvet to the press photo. Where’s that big dollop of blueberry CC!? Ended up going to another place and ordering a side of CC for this thing. $11 for two slices of bacon on a bagel, smh.

So I’ve been cruising through my new neighborhood getting bagels from random bagel spots. I have gone to 2 so far and 1 was great if I can say the least… the other was like eating jail food served in a soiled pamper. Nagels I must say is a good spot with tasty bagels. I have no complaints with the shop and I’ll go there again soon for more, and thank you for the positive hospitality also!

Google
The bagels were delicious, but their thickness overpowered the cream cheese, which melted too quickly. A bit more cream cheese would have created a better balance of flavors and texture.

Google
The bagel I got was amazing! Perfectly warm and lightly toasted and the cheese was just slightly melted. I will be dreaming about this bagel from back home in NC and will make sure to return every time I'm back in the area.

Google
service is a little slow but the quality of the product and service is why, it’s a bustling and quaint location amongst a bunch of cool little shoppes and the selection/ prices are all great. the bagels are super soft and not too chewy, tuna salad was well seasoned and overall loved this place. they also gave my friend a free gift just cause they inquired if certain things were for sale- love this place!!!

This is my neighborhood bagel spot. I had been wanting to try it out. Finally got the chance. It was delicious! I tried the Blue Velvet. There are many interesting combinations though

I work at Akwaaba, a black owned bed and breakfast in bed stuy. In summer of 2023 one of my guests who got married at Akwaaba ordered from your location as lunch for their bridal party. They were kind enough to say that I should look at the menu and they would order me something too. I ordered the blue velvet, and it was absolutely amazing! Often I would think about the bagel, but couldn’t remember the name of the place they ordered from, nor could I remember the name of the sandwich! I would get so frustrated when I would get the craving for it….Today February 3rd, 2025 I decided to do some research looking for bagel spots near me and I found you guys!!! And you did not disappoint!!! Thank you for the creativity!! I am a true foodie and that blue velvet sandwich makes me happy lol 🤣 it’s so fresh, sweet and savory!! It’s my favorite combination!! Will definitely be ordering from you guys for a future event I have!!! 🙌🏾🙏🏾✨❤️🥰 MY NEW FAVORITE SPOT!!!

Google
We wandered into this sweet little spot yesterday while visiting a relative. The young man taking our order was quite patient and pleasant as we were undecided what to order. The options all sounded good. We got The Jerusalem and a Sausage, Egg and Cheese. Delicious. Would definitely visit again when in Brooklyn. Go check them out!

Yelp
An incredible gem for Brooklyn bagels! This spot clearly is core to the Thompkins liveliness and contributes to the natural community built around Bed Stuy! The individuals who work here are some of the kindest and most amicable people I have been served by. Walking in and listening in on orders numbered in front of me there was always an anecdotal detail to be commented on, a kind complement or moment of interpersonal connection shared with the customer and the employee. Brandon and Quade have consistently been the ones to help me out and definitely carry a heartbeat to this spot- always guaranteed to be greeted with kind eyes and a smile! Not only is service lovely but the offerings from bagel sandos to delicious brownies are just perfect! I was devoted to the Veggie Nagel on a multi-grain with a brownie to accompany but am a firm believer you can't go wrong! All-in-all when in the area or seeking an exceptional bagel and some kind company, this spot is 100% the place to check out!

Yelp
10/10 awesome bagels and a nice variety of delicious bagel sandwiches! Loved the Blue Velvet and the Veggie Nagle. Super cute spot - perfect for anyone strolling around the area and looking for somewhere with a good vibe to sit down and have a bagel or take to go. Definitely worth it! Great service - a small staff that are very friendly and make good sandwich recommendations.

Yelp
This spot has a lot of negative reviews on here, so maybe I'm one of the lucky ones. We thought it was great for grabbing a quick breakfast bite. It's a small joint, so the service was a walk up counter. Cute exterior. I got the Nagel's sunrise on a jalapeño cheddar bagel with the chili sauce and it was yummy.

Yelp
I visit here regularly because it is basically the only bagel place near by, and I'm always craving a bagel. The inside is super cute and homey, a little small but has plenty of tables and chairs to sit and eat if you're not taking it to go! The bagels are not bad, just super inconsistent, here below are two different bagels, both bacon egg and cheese. One of them has a good amount of bacon with very very very little egg. The other bagel, has an OKAY amount of egg, definitely not measured out, and just about one slice of bacon. Both have basically no cheese. For paying 9.00 for a bec, it would be nice for it to be consistent and appropriate amount of items on the bagel. The bagels have great potential but definitely need some work on proportions and love! It's been like this for a few months now so I really hope one day it changes :)

Yelp
Great local neighborhood bagel shop. Decided to stop by and grab a smoke salmon bagel while on a morning coffee date with my pup this morning. Normally my bf and I almost always religiously drive to bagel pub, but decided to splurge and get a smoke salmon bagel because I saw few people across the street eating sandwiches with smoke salmon. After looking at their menu, they do bagels, toast and bowl versions which is really awesome, and I love because sometimes I just can't have that many carbs. Since it was my first time visiting I decided to go with the Gotham City on everything bagel scooped out. I was super interested in the beets and horseradish cream cheese since thats something my bf and I love. When I went to order at the counter they informed me dogs were not allowed inside which is totally understandable, but I was allowed to I ordered quickly, paid, and waited outside. The guy was super nice and when I mentioned I usually get whole wheat but wanted to get regular so my bf would eat it he offered to do half whole wheat and half regular. I declined but really appreciated the offer! After walking home and offering half the bagel to my bf, it was delicious! The chili jam really comes though and the bacon, tomato, horseradish, goes well with the smoked salmon. My bf said he really liked the everything bagel flavor as well. Overall we had a great first experience and will probably stop by next time to give regular bagels and quick breakfasts a shot!

Yelp
Love the Veggie Bagel (the goat cheese and the tomato jam is an elite combo) been here a few times and the service and food is always great !

Yelp
Such a cute place with excellent service. The employees were helpful and extremely knowledgeable about the flavors of the menu. Delicious bagel. As a bagel lover, I will certainly be back for more and I highly recommend.

Yelp
I held off on reviewing Nagle's after my first time visiting last year. I waited nearly half an hour for a small, stale bagel with a smear. I said I'd give them another try (people have off days ya know), so I did recently. I placed an order for pickup. Lox on an egg bagel with tofu cream cheese. The app said my order would be ready in 15, I gave it 20. Arrived and waited another 10-15. There were others waiting too who were all frustrated. One family was there with their hungry kids, and they were still waiting when I left. To quote one of the babies who was screaming about his bagel when I walked out: "I hate them!" I honestly wasn't too bothered by the wait, myself. They had just two people working, it was a Saturday morning, things happen. But I do think after some years of being in business, they should consider a different approach to not only avoid disgruntled customers, but to also help their team members not be so stressed. Moving on to the bagel. Oof! This was the driest bagel that I've ever had in my life. That's not an exaggeration. I sent the attached picture to a friend without saying anything and their response was "the bagel looks dry." There was plenty of smoked salmon, maybe 4 capers, a tiny slice of tomato, and few massive chunks of red onion, and not nearly enough cream cheese. I couldn't even finish it. Also, there were a lot of flies inside. I know flies are impossible to fully control, especially with a door open, but there were one too many for my liking.

Yelp
Been here dozens and dozens of times over the years. This is my favorite spot for normal bagel order. These are not huge bagels with excessive amounts of cream cheese, so if you want that, go somewhere else. The place fills up, so at peak hours, it can be a wait, just like any other popular bagel place. I've gotten a dozen bagels or more for early morning sports events, and they're consistent and yummy. Service is always friendly and as speedy as possible. I prefer here to Greenberg's personally. Vibe inside is cute and cozy, but can get smoky as kitchen is right behind counter. Seating outside on thompkins is the move, but I mostly bring bagel to Herbert Von King.
google avatar

Anthony R.

Yelp
If you don't mind a long wait and have time to spare, this might be the place for you. I waited over an hour and a half for a salmon bagel, only to end up feeling unwell afterward. It seems the staff isn't trained adequately in handling the fish, which raises concerns about food safety. I wish I'd paid more attention to the other reviews. I'm now questioning whether some of the positive ones are genuine. Be cautious and dine here at your own risk.
google avatar

May K.

Yelp
Cute place and convenient walk from me. I always bring friends here when they come visit for a quick grab and go breakfast before we start our day. I like that they have an option for a hummus bagel because I'm not a fan of cream cheese

Branden V.

Yelp
Terrible bagel spot. Ordered a New Yorker, waited 40 minutes while people kept coming in and out, and being polite I didn't want to ask or rush. Finally got annoyed enough to ask, and they didn't even have my order that I paid for. Attitude from the one making the bagels and annoyed with me somehow. Finally got the bagel and it was dry, flavorless and awful. Threw it away immediately after one bite. Find any other of the 100's of bagel shops around.
google avatar

Mary Beth J.

Yelp
I don't know why the reviews on this place are so uneven! I've visited several times, and each time I have been thrilled with the service, and the New Yorker is next level! The space is super cute, the block is lively, and the turnover insures there's always a table in the (admittedly) limited space. I really love the energy in Nagle's and my visit is always rewarded. I highly recommend it!

Emily E.

Yelp
5/5 food, 4/5 service (bagel took awhile), 5/5 ambiance! ordered a toasted everything bagel with cream cheese & a toasted BEC

P. R.

Yelp
Sandwich was okay. This is more so about the I don't give a f*** attitude by foh which is obviously not at all what hospitality / customer service is aligned with. Do better. It's not cute

C K.

Yelp
I'm confused by the low rating. I live in the neighborhood and frequent Nagle's often. The people are always friendly, the service good, and the bagels delicious. I've had everything from a sesame seed bagel with a schmear to the BEC to their whitefish (which was mind blowing). They're open early enough for the morning commute and close after a late lunch. Nagel's is great!

Mollie G.

Yelp
I love this place so much! Best bagels in the area! Pleasant people! Cute little spot. In someways you could say nagles bagels is my favorite ever
google avatar

James W.

Yelp
Of course I have to show some love for my neighborhood bagel shop. And of course, when I saw the negative reviews, I got a little defensive. When I go into Nagle's, I'm greeted warmly and have never waited longer than 5 minutes for a bagel. It's cute and offers more than enough seating (with outdoor seating, too). Could their eggs be a little fluffier? Could their bacon be a little crispier? Yes. But that doesn't stop Nagle's from being the neighborhood bagel shop that I always bring friends from out of town to. They're inexpensive, reliable, and wonderful people and they will always have my service.
google avatar

Sarah W.

Yelp
I ordered the Nagles Sunrise and it by default comes on a poppyseed bagel. It was delicious but the reason I'm giving 4 out of 5 stars is because I ordered it with avocado and they didn't give me any. But they didn't charge me for it either so that's good at least.

Niko P.

Yelp
The bagel sandwiches are top-notch, so much so that I travel from Kensington for them. The coffee is also unusually good. Great ambience, excellent service, very homey. I only wish it were closer to where I lived so I could make it my go-to default breakfast spot.

Avideh B.

Yelp
My fam loves this joint-- sweet jelly jam on a savory breakfast sandwich is chef's kiss.

Franchesca R.

Yelp
Be prepared to wait 40 minutes for one of the most underwhelming bagels of your life. Cute location and friendly staff but not worth the wait for the bagel you will receive.

Jordan A.

Yelp
The Jerusalem is great. I wish there was more selection but for the size of the place I cannot expect that.

Camille B.

Yelp
I've been a few times, with getting the same thing. This will be my last though. My bagels in the past have sometimes been slightly charred, but never the whole thing. This is what i opened when i got home. Decent amount of cream cheese, but both sides of my bagel were burnt /: the bottom would've been fine if the top wasn't so charred but dang
google avatar

Sam R.

Yelp
I thought that the reviews were probably over exaggerating in describing Nagle's faults. It's a cute looking storefront and in a cheery, happening part of Bed-Stuy. However, this bagel shop fell super flat. They were out of lots of ingredients, so we couldn't order the lox as intended. I got the Jerusalem instead and was disappointed on all fronts. The everything bagel tasted stale even though it was just made - something is seriously off with their recipe. It was tough and thick, and the everything seasoning just tasted mostly of sesame seeds. The hummus was awful and not spread evenly. They added pickled peppers because they were out of one of the other ingredients in the sandwich, and those were by far the highlight of the meal. What a disappointing spot!

Yelp
Real deal in mid Bedstuy ! Fantastic fresh bagels , excellent options and some creative ideas for bagels and sandwiches . Sad to see a no one from LA (yes that fake city out west....) writing piles of idiotic comments and take the stardom down. Dont hesitate and go get yourself REAL bagels and maybe dozen?!?!

Robert R.

Yelp
Service is always fast and dependable. Bagels were fresh and tasty. Great neighborhood bagel shop

Jon S.

Yelp
Bangin' Bagel in Bedstuy. Great breakfast spot and friendly service. Nice little patio area out front.

Steven D.

Yelp
Best bagels in bed stuy, never disappoints, bagels are the best around, they have 13 flavors and one is better than the other

Charles B.

Yelp
Honestly a huge disappointment. Place has really gone downhill. Service and food quality. Don't waste your time. Go to Greenbergs instead
google avatar

Yelp
Nagle's has the best bagel sandwiches around. Excellent flavors fresh ingredients black owned business; this is the one!

Yelp
This is Brooklyn. The bagel bar is HIGH here. There is no room for mediocrity, or so one would think. Nagle's is a cute little neighborhoody spot on Tompkins ave. It's also the only pure "bagel place" within a several block radius. The vibe is gentrified (not necessarily a bad thing but let's call a spade a spade), the coffee is fine, the staff is generally pretty nice. HOWEVER, the bagels are just barely better than what you would get from a Bodega. They taste a "day old" to be honest. Stale, cardboardy. Edible, sure. Are you starving and dying for a bagel, Nagle's will probably be acceptable for you. Did you grow up in Philadelphia eating store bought bagels? Nagle's will probably seem pretty good to you. I'm not saying don't go here. I have nothing against the establishment. I go here occasionally as it's the only bagel place within reasonable walking distance to me. All I'm saying is, if you want a real, delicious, NYC bagel experience, Nagle's is not what you're looking for. Head down Crown Heights way and go to Bagel Pub.
google avatar

Yasi H.

Yelp
Nagle's is located in a great location in Bedstuy. Unfortunately though, the bagel that I had was just average. I got a bacon, egg, and cheese with chipotle mayo on an everything bagel. I thought the chipotle mayo gave it a unique twist, but everything else was subpar. The eggs were a little overcooked and the bacon was thin and sparse. The everything bagel itself barely had any 'everything' on it. I wanted to get the same thing with sausage, but unfortunately they were out. I was expecting a bit better for a bagel place in Brookyn.
google avatar

Rachel M.

Yelp
Went for the first time the other day but was a little skeptical because of the reviews but it's so close to me I had to try for myself. I was pleased with what I ordered. I had an everything bagel toasted with vegetable cream cheese. Definitely love that they veggies were thick and there was a good amount of carrots in there. Also the amount of cream cheese they gave was the perfect amount, didn't skimp out at all! My husband ordered an egg sandwich with white cheddar cheese and bacon but ended up having to get ham because they were out of bacon. The running out of bacon before 11am is why I had to take a star away. Based on other reviews I guess they often run out of items. All in all the food was very tasty and I will be back again because of such close proximity.
google avatar

Amanda B.

Yelp
Came in and ordered three bagels.. The cashier asked me if all three bagels were for me... Now I didn't want to be rude and reply to him in a nasty tone because they are making my food.. But seriously what type of question is that sir?? Excuse you... My husband opened his bagel and there was a long strand of blonde hair in his bagel.. He threw up immediately!!! There were only two men working behind the cash register so how could this blonde hair have wounded up inside of this bagel? There's only one explanation!! That means that where the bagel is being prepared at is completely unsanitary and dirty!!! Gross!!! This was my second time here and no I will never come back!! This place is dirty and nasty and I can't see myself having my morning breakfast with hair inside of it!!! Ewwwwwwww
google avatar

Lexa S.

Yelp
I ate here a good while ago and after seeing other pictures I believe I went to their old location but I will review here since that one looks to be closed now. Not sure why this place isn't rated higher but I had the veggie sandwich and I wish I had gotten 2. I loved it!! The jam was so interesting and it was so flavorful. The atmosphere inside is adorable. Theres was even a cute little timecard puncher machine and markers so you can make your own record of visits.

Yelp
Nagle's Bagels is such a great place that my girlfriend and I returned for a second bagel the next morning. Perfectly positioned a quarter mile north of the subway station it is in an ideal place for a quick morning coffee and bagel.

M N.

Yelp
Really yummy bagels and reasonable prices. Got a veggie sandwich with a poppyseed bagel and a cold brew for $12 - not bad. Fresh and yummy. Cute shop too
google avatar

Amber D.

Yelp
100% the earlier you come here the better chance you have of getting the items you desire. Once they run out of a bagel or a spread or a jam, the likelihood of them having it again that same day are slim..once they're done they're done. That being said, one might hope to get there while they still have the onion bagels so as to get a cheese eggy sandwich combo on it (pictured) with either their in-house jam or ketchup ( go for the latter because it is spicy). Staff there is always very delightful, and speedy with the to/go orders.

Shannie Y.

Yelp
I was sent the wrong order via Grubhub . The person who I spoke to was rude and could careless about customer satisfaction . There was no apology , nothing offered for my inconvenience .

Alvin M.

Yelp
I live on the same block as Nagles, and when Nagles first opened I was thrilled to have a new bagel spot on the block. Boy was I wrong! Nagles is a slightly below-average bagel that suffers from bad bagel-execution. Call me crazy but there are some core tenets of NY Bagel-ology that should always be adhered to: 1. Evenly cut bagel 2. Even distribution of toppings 3. Enough cream cheese such that no one bite should go dry or un-schmeared Nagles falls short on all these counts. Perhaps it is just a lack of training? A lack of understanding? Yes perhaps Nagles never will be Russ & Daughters or Ess-a-Bagel, but surely they could compete with Bergen Bagel or BK Bagels on Broadway? The staff has gotten less rude over the past year - perhaps in response to the torrent of honest Yelp reviews. With that in mind, let's keep pushing Nagles to improve, these are manageable changes!
google avatar

Lu M.

Yelp
Just tried them for the first time today. They're not excellent but they're not bad either. Satisfied my appetite at least! Their bagels were a bit tough to chew through for me though.

L M.

Yelp
First time trying this place. Beside it being expensive, but I knew that before buying, it was not worth it at all. I got the chicken salad on bagel. I was turned off by the third bite because I bit into a piece of fatty piece of chicken. So, I really wasn't crazy about the quality of the chicken. And it also lacked flavor. It could of be kicked up a little with some salt, or celery for example. Bagel itself was average. I will unlikely be visiting here again.
google avatar

Arlynn G.

Yelp
Bagels made in-house. Toasty, crisp yet soft yummy bite. Clever loyalty program with punchcard.
google avatar

April B.

Yelp
Don't understand the bad reviews, came here two days in a row because it was so good. The bagels are so fresh and they don't skimp on anything. Got the whitefish and the nagle's special. My friend got the spicy nagle and then a custom one. They were awesome and affordable. I am blessed that this is my local bagel spot. Way better than Bergen bagels!

Nomnomsammieboy S.

Yelp
used to be good years ago, but now is overpriced and lower quality. Prices have gone up, ingredient quality seems down. Got entire order wrong from ingredients in the sandwiches to the bagel choice itself and the bagels tasted old... At last seamless refunded 50%. I miss the good old days when the bagels seemed fresh and ingredients were tasty and correct. Smells like a restaurant struggling and trying to pass subpar food off for high prices to stay afloat. Sad.
google avatar

Kim B.

Yelp
Nagle's Bagels is certainly rather wonderful. Reasonable rates for this area. Every thing we ordered tasted wonderful. The servers are really courteous and accommodating. I'm giving 5 stars to Nagle's Bagels, only because I cannot give 6 or 7.

Yelp
1.) Stepped into venue-- not a SOUL acknowledges my presence as I stand at counter for at least 3-4 minutes plus. I literally had to say "Hello...? Are you still open or...?" A young gentleman apologizes briefly and asks for my order while the manager and trainee behind him remain completely unbothered by the concept of customer service. 2.) I order the Whitefish bagel sandwich (type: Everything)... requesting tomato and onion. Cost me an extra dollar amidst having the ingredients in my fridge. Literally, a single slice of tomato and two small rings of red onion were on the bagel. A bit petty considering no one greeted me initially but hey, good whitefish can be hard to find. 3.) Opted to add the pastrami style smoked salmon (big mistake-- an extra $5 for ONE piece halved in two on a bed of arugula... same style literally sells at Trader Joe's in a 4 oz package for $5.49). Total rip off. Disgusted by price gouging and lack of generosity considering at this point. 4.) Sadly, the Whitefish portion was extremely skimpy. The manager couldn't have cared less and was unbothered by the critique amidst the fact that THE BAGEL was Happy Meal sized and smaller than I had ever seen in my years as a New Yorker!!!!! I gasped when I unwrapped it!!!! (FYI Horseradish schmear does not denote Horseradish flavored cream cheese-- which I was excited about. It literally means a teeny bit of actual horseradish that I failed to detect after eating the whole bagel). $16 dollars and change later (and I even tipped the young man who took my order-- knowing that he is probably already tired of customers annoyance and complaints regarding the size and construction of the bagel sandwiches.. probably doesn't receive many tips), I'm completely perturbed with the experience and hating myself for not being more inclined to grocery shop regularly. 5.) The second star is ONLY due to the taste of the whitefish... it was pretty good but I really received no more than a tablespoon or two on a bagel that was HALF the average size but MORE than the average price. Oh. And I received a free coffee bc I checked in via Yelp.... but staff wasn't aware of that promo and tried to tell me something about 9 visits and your 10th coffee is free or something involving library check out cards!?!? So I literally had to show them the offer and it was accepted. 6.) Conclusion: Stock up on your favorite fresh bagels, condiments and veggie toppings at home. You may have to splurge for a few oz of whitefish spread or Nova Scotia Lox but atleast you will have several servings over a week and not feel like a dunce for almost dropping $20 on some nonsense. Sad thing is I love bagels and am local, but this was like a bad first date that your friends forewarn you about. "Nagles" is blocked. No interest in wasting my money for shoddy service AND the final product. (The white on top is more cream cheese since I was expecting horseradish schmear... not a large whitefish portion, fyi)

Yelp
Me and my daughter have passed by many times and finally got a chance to go in. The regular drip was great and the bagel breakfast sandwiches were delicious!! Friendly gentleman assisted us.
