Forgotten we came here before Covid but upon entering then realised we were here before. Food is good but there’s no English menu. Perhaps owner chef Satoru will have one soon. However the very friendly staff told us chef can adjust the omakase accordingly to suit us. That’s a good thing. So in the end we had a 8 course quality omakase at a very reasonable price. I love in particular the king crab and the crab porridge Japanese styled. Will return soon with friends. Please note it’s a small restaurant so booking is always a must.

4.5/5 (5/5 food: 4/5 service; 5/5 atmosphere). We came here for dinner. Food was very good. Clearly fresh, wonderfuly balanced, with a fantastic mixture of meat and fish, and food was plenty. Good sake and beer as well. The service from staff was fantastic. No complaints, very friendly and helpful. The only reason for a 4 is that i would have still liked to see an a la carte menu both for food and sake. There is an assumotion that if you are not japanese then you don't know the food or drink. I can understand why, but there should be some form of flexibility. Either way doesnt impact the actual quality of food. The place was small but intimate and very cosy. Great night out!

Dropped by for a light post movie dinner. Asked for a couple of dishes recommendations from chef and went with it. the chef appetiser snack of macaroni mayo and marinated eel in ponzu was was really good and maybe the only star of the evening. The seasonal tomatoe was not at the peak with the right sweetest u usually expect, sashimi was not bad, the corn was really sweet but wished the tempura batter to be lighter. Was introduced how to debone the fish the “Japanese” way…. By the way the ayu fish was probably the best main dish we had. The wagyu beef was a bit chewy and over powered by the marinated sauce. Overall I feel that this place is good mainly for sake and food is secondary. Service was spot on and chef is nice as always!

Omakase in a small bespoked Japanese restaurant in cuppage plaza. Whilst ingredients used was fresh and unique, servings like sashimi and wagyu served on a shared plate/platter took away the ambience and experience of an authentic omakase. Ambience: 3/5 Food: 3/5 Price: 3/5

Delicious Omakase menu. Amazingly fresh seafood and a fine selection of very affordable plum wine and Japanese sochu. It’s a small intimate space with a hospitable team. Would come back again.

Atmosphere isn't really the best but if food quality is all you care about, come here. Nagomi is one of a few good dining places inside Cuppage Plaza. Chef Satoru is helpful in explaining the omakase dishes too. We were lucky to have the 4kg Hokkaido king crab that arrived earlier in the day. The Miyazaki wagyu beef was good as well.

The omakase experience was amazing. Great service. All the food are directly imported from Japan, and it's seasonal in nature. When we left, the staff knows exactly which were our shoes and put in place at the entrance.

Yelp
Quite easily some of the best Japanese food I've ever had. Full disclosure that I did not pick up the bill so every morsel of this omakase feast tasted even sweeter and more delicious. This tiny, I'm guessing 25-seater, is a hidden gem of a restaurant in Cuppage Plaza. Once you get past the "friendly ladies" of the many bars in the building, you are magically transported into a quaint and tranquil Japanese dining room. Leave your shoes at the door and pick between the table or the bar. Either way, order a beer or some sake, get comfortable, and prepare yourself for some serious eating as the chef prepares dishes from what's freshest for the day. We started with some Hokkaido oysters and they are seriously the largest oysters I have eaten but its size doesn't compromise quality or taste. Both my bites (yes it's that big) of this plump oyster gave me plenty of umami brininess and salinity. Next up is a treasure chest of sashimi. You are spoiled for choice with the variety of fresh fish. In particular, I just love the generous serving of uni that you can just taste the ocean. The meal continues to get better as you move onto cooked food. The snow crab legs were just incredibly sweet and the tempura smelt (I think it was smelt) had a delicate crunch. The beef was just melt in your mouth tender and a joy to eat with the lettuce and dipping sauce. My favorite mouthful though was the grilled fish. I don't know what fish it was but it was just so incredibly sweet. It must have been brined first in some mirin or sake then grilled. The meat is delicate but the skin is crispy and then bam the sweet flavors hit you with a punch. Ending our meal with some comforting, but surprisingly deep and complex, japanese congee was a nice homey way to end an otherwise gourmet foodie meal. Nagomi is pricey but it is really good so let's file this under special occasions as I dream about the sweet sweet grilled fish and look forward to my return trip.
